The thing about superhero stories is that structurally, they're built around one character (teams being the obvious exception), but The Flash is so out there in terms of concepts that without a narrator or internal monologue, you need other characters around just to explain all this shit to the audience, and THEN you have to keep them from drawing attention away from the hero.

What if Flashpoint was just such a colossal fuckup of the timeline that all Barry can do is cut it like a Gordian Knot, and threads from it pop up randomly. Similar I guess to the Breachers, but also localized as events, companies, locations, etc all synchronizing with the Flashpoint fuckery. Season finale actually wraps it all up while remaining in continuity to preserve any character growth as a result.
