So because I had work, earlier, we're going to do two days worth of stories, and a little extra to make up for making you wait.
For those who weren't here last time, Luke was put through a process to reverse the Power Man procedure, and now he doesn't have his powers.
If you've ever been in a pool and tried punching a fat guy in the stomach, you should have an idea how impressive this punch is.
Huh, I guess I should've done Defenders. In my defense, I haven't read any Defenders yet.
Nice, my favourite time in the night.
I love how gripping on the side of a moving car makes more sense than hiding in the sewers.
Granted, it isn't easy to open manhole covers.
>>84063867
It's been a while since first grade.
>>84064105
I can't even count the number of reasons this shouldn't have worked.
Seriously, this issue had to have been inspired by watching three hours of Loony Toons.
>and then there was the time Luke Cage carried weaponry that would make Frank Castle pop a boner
Huh, Karma hit this guy quickly.
This guy looks like he's wearing a Beast costume and lost the mask. Does anyone else see it?
wut
>I guess I got my powers back after from electricity
This is some Silver Age nonsense.
I don't even know what this cover is showing!
>>84064514
Kind of looks like Charles Manson
>I just wanted to test and see how you react to me trying to kick you.
What was this guy's plan if Danny was twitchy and reacted by breaking his leg?
I guess calling his guards was his plan.
It wasn't a good one.
Here's a tip if you ever come in this situation, Anons. If you fear for your life, NEVER take the elevator. You WILL die.
>"You wear the mark of a dragon! That's a gook mark!"
Not... not really. I mean yeah, Danny's basically the biggest weeb in Marvel since Wolverine, but that's just a coincidence.
God damn it woman, keep your legs together!
How many capes actually have spare masks?
Remember when old comics would show off the settings?
Can you think of a modern Big Two comic that actually has this many supporting cast members?
>>84064283
You think they talked about it that time Frank was black and hung out with Luke?
It's a bit of a bummer that Misty and Harmony both have afros, because then it takes a bit to differentiate the two of them. Especially because early Misty hid her bionic arm.
>>84064514
Danny's got an Escher Girls pose going on.
>>84065457
We'll find out, since we're gonna do that trilogy of issues.
>>84065543
I didn't want to say anything, because I just assumed someone in better shape than me could pull that off, but yeah.
... See Hulk, this shit is why nobody likes you.
>>84065037
It's not even a particularly oriental style dragon.
You live in the Marvel Universe, there's a lot of guys who are big and immune to bullets. It's not like he's green.
>>84065542
Wasn't she previously drawn with straightened hair though?
>Fist-Man
So does Hulk ever get anyone's name right, by sheer coincidence?
Huh, I guess that one Anon who suggested using the Iron Fist to hypnotise the Hulk was right.
>>84065773
Oh wait, you're right. Wonder why they randomly gave her an afro...
Man, sometimes it seems like fucking anything will make Banner transform. Even shit that shouldn't make him angry.
>>84064308
Luke Cage driving a tiny golf cart running away from a gorilla with a human head . . . there's something you don't see every day.
I don't if it has happened but why Colleen, Misty and Luke never learned to use Ki? You would think hanging with Danny for so long he would past that knowledge on. Col using her Ki on her sword would be all kinds of awesome.
>>84066381
Because what Danny does isn't something that can just be taught. When he calls it "dragon's chi" he isn't being colorful, that's literally what it is. He punched into the heart of a nigh-immortal dragon until his fist absorbed its energies. THAT is what makes his fist all glowy.
Also, Colleen is the only one of those who would do that kind of formal training.
Colleen is surprisingly salty about not this
Where the fuck was Colleen hiding those things?!
Holy shit, little girl's surprisingly badass.
>>84066489
Ah. I see.
Still, Danny's origin is amazing in it's batshit insanity. Sure most Martial Art masters had to train to be insanely good.
Danny Rand? He trained to get that good to fist fight a Goddamn dragon, THEN put his hands into his burning heart to get his powers. Kenshiro might have 2000 years of history backing Hokuto Shinken but their masters never fought a fucking dragon.
>>84066024
Guess the artist just assumed she had an afro. I mean, most of the women in Luke Cage's comic had one, so he had a decent chance of being right.
I feel like Danny is the one who should be fighting the ninja horde, and Luke should be fighting the giant.
>>84066779
That's the thing about the Iron Fist. We never hear about it happening, but it can easily be implied that we've had people train for their entire lives, beat everyone else in K'un Lun in a tournament, finally earn the right to face Shou Lou the Undying... and then get fucking killed without ever gaining the Iron Fist power.
>>84066780
Sad thing is, most of them did.
Okay, that didn't work, but you KNOW that guy wishes he managed to kill Danny with the fish. He would tell that story until the died, the day he stabbed a man in a bar with a Swordfish.
>>84066685
Handbag?
Okay, Luke clearly isn't wearing the silk shirt under his amazing Hawaiian shirt. Where was he keeping that and the rest of his costume?
>>84066890
It was a popular look then. But I also think it's also partly that the artists didn't really know of any other natural black hairstyles. The only instance I can think of where another black hairstyle was used was that lesbian vampire story where the vampire in question had cornrows.
This guy looks so evil, it'd be more of a surprise if he WASN'T evil.
>>84067085
Also a handbag.
>>84066860
Davos was pretty banged up when he challenged the Undying Dragon so I'm sure there is quite a few bodies. I can envision quite a few Martial masters tipping their hats in respect to Danny after hearing his tale.
Hey Anons, remember when Colleen was put through Claremont's corruption fetish?
>>84067262
Of course!
>>84067219
It's completly unrelated, but I'm listening to an LP/podcast in the background, and one of the guys just mentioned a story about ejactulating in a girl's handbag,JUST when you mentioned it the second time.
>>84067328
Man, I hope Luke doesn't notice any stains on his shirt.
Does he not have any pictures of her?
>>84067262
>Claremont tried to take Collen into X-Men for a Jean-Scott-Wing triangle cause he created her
>PM/IF office wouldn't let him
>That's comics! dropped plot point
>>84067454
It can't be easy to clean stains off silk shirts.
>>84067462
And yet they basically let him take Mystique and Sabertooth.
This is a top tier story time
oh no the general was evil all along, who could've guessed.
Seriously, unless the hero is in the military, is "the general" EVER a good guy?
>>84067575
Was Mystique Iron Fist? I thought she and Rogue were both Ms Marvel things he ported over to X-Men.
he also claims he had plans for Sabretooth's employer to be Mr Sinister and this whole Sabretooth clone thing. (Which imo read like an attempt at a Doombot retcon for him so that the only "real" Sabretooth was the guy fucking with Wolverine on his birthdays)
>>84067690
She was Ms. Marvel, I was just bringing up other examples of "Claremont taking elements from other stuff he wrote and made the X-Men things".
Sabertooth, at least in these Iron Fist stories, seemed to just be a generic merc, in the sense that his boss was never important.
Credit where it's due, the bad guy's shooting at the guy who's NOT immune to bullets.
It almost worked too.
>>84067462
>Wing shacks up with Scott for a little while.
>Cyclops starts packing a Katana.
>Misty and Col get involved in more X-Craziness
>This drags in Luke and Danny
>Somehow this leads to a tale with The X-Men, The Defenders, F4 and the Heroes for Hire beating the ever loving shit out of Limbo because A) They tried to take over Harlem and B) they Stiffed Luke Cage.
Samurai with a wooden oar. If these twits knew about Miyamoto Musashi vs. Sasaki Kojiro, they'd stay the fuck away.
Yes, I've seen my Samurai movies since Deadly Hands of Kung Fu.
>>84067896
You know those N'gari demons that occasionally attack the Xavier mansion? They were first mentioned in a Deadly Hands of Kung Fu arc with Danny, so that could've worked too.
Aw, happy ending.
We're halfway through tonight's stories!
>>84067682
Even when the hero is in the military, generals are usually at best out-of-touch higher ups. Often they're huge assholes, like in Captain Atom.
>>84068164
Eiling was more than an asshole, he was a PETTY asshole. Like, he married Nate's wife and then got rid of every picture of Nate just so his kids wouldn't know what he looked like.
But yeah, whenever a General is a good guy, the hero is usually in the military or somehow in the chain of command.
>>84068245
>got rid of every picture of Nate just so his kids wouldn't know what he looked like.
that's still just amazing
>>84067971
>Demons decided to fuck with Cage
>They inhabit The Soda Machine at The Gem
>It gets Luke's order right with no strings attached.
>Cage instantly trashes the Machine and the demon inside(unknowingly) because he knows something is up.
>D.W. grumbles about getting a new machine.
If you're gonna shit yourself every time you see a superhero, why would you stay in Marvel New York?
>>84068245
Wade Elling was special kind of asshole. The fuck Nate do to deserve him, I don't know.
>>84068273
Seriously, check out the JSA storytimes. That storytimer does good stories. They just finished classic Suicide Squad, after doing the 80's Captain Atom series.
>>84068301
i'm picturing a person who moved to Jersey to escape the heroes and then flipping the fuck out at Kamala traveling by
>>84068380
And then he moves to Houston, and runs into Kaine, who is totally still active there with Aracely, no matter what Marvel says otherwise.
... Okay, what does Doctor Doom get out of this? He's got enough super science and magic that it isn't inconcievable that he could help Parasite take out Superman.
But why in god's name would Doom need help to beat fucking SPIDER-MAN?
>>84068353
Well he was framed for killing his commanding officer. I forget if Eilling was involved in the frame-up, but if not, that'd explain why he hated him.
>>84063631
Luke is not for bully.
>Ten Grand for a Quarter
Here's why you should occasionally explain to the heroes what the MacGuffin they have is. Sometimes they genuinely don't know what you want.
See, this is why you should at least CHECK the damn thing before giving ten thousand dollars for it.
I'm sure you can recognize what the coin does by now.
See, if he just asked nicely for his money back, without explaining what the deal with the coin was, he may have actually gotten it back.
>>84068829
>ooga booga
They aren't even trying
Those bottom panels are great, where Luke and Danny take the time to figure out how to get up after him.
>>84063876
Ah, the old Good Cop Black Cop trick.
>>84069020
Hey, it worked, didn't it?
I haven't read much pre-Miller Daredevil. Did Daredevil really climb walls, in addition to swing around with the billy club?
Yeah, Harmony gets a lot of different hair styles.
>>84063950
Someone ran the Headmen storyline like, last month. Many of your readers will have read it, I hope.
Worst Gorilla Man is not as fun a character as Ruby Tuesday, in any case. Definitely worse than Ken Hale too.
Shit, right in the damn wrist!
>>84064018
Man, that is some limbo dodge there in panel 2.
Gud read op keep it comin
... Presumably there's people IN the building, Danny. Wouldn't it be easier to knock and hope they let you in?
And thus the war between Luke Cage and Soda Machine continues.
Also,
ROM
O
M
I guess the Rom issue is going to be the next one. That blows.
>>84064162
So I've started watching Jessica Jones, about a third of the way through. I don't like how they implemented Reva in Luke's backstory so far.
Or how Luke is being run. Actor seems pretty fitting, but bringing him in his Alias storyline as Jessica's boyfriend just feels like a misstep to me.
For those of you who weren't here for the Iron Fist series, these guys were a street gang who operated exclusively in Chinatown.
>>84069165
I don't suppose you have a link on desustorage onhand? Seems like it's down at the moment.
>>84069096
I don't remember him ever climbing walls, although Danny might just be talking about them recovering easily from death-defying falls.
>>84069313
You can get away with Luke having a dull backstory in Jessica Jones because he's not the main character. Tying her into his story though, makes it iffy, because Reva's death was one of the biggest parts of Luke's conflict with Willis Stryker, along with framing him for drug dealing. Making Jessica the one who killed her would dramatically change how he'd treat her.
Here's the details of original Chaka and the Golden Tigers arc.
>>84064474
Eh, makes enough sense. His powers were chemicals + electricity originally to begin with.
>>84064514
A Vietnam veteran with LSD cloud powers threatening Luke and Danny?
>>84069571
But it was the chemicals that were electically charged, not Luke himself.
I really like the color work in these.
So this is five guys who came out of nowhere to attack him, but only two of them were from his room. How the hell did he not notice the other three?!
>"I'll take Iron Fist!"
>Jumps at him, and immediately kicked in the dick
I forget, did the original Chaka weaponize Kirby Dots as well, or is that a talent unique to the new one?
One hit, and Luke's shirt is fucking DESTROYED.
You can tell Bob doesn't consider himself part of the Sons of the Tiger because he's wearing red instead of Yellow.
>>84069436
I think desustorage is dead for good.
They have an embarrassing new URL.
Gimme a minute I'll see if I can find it.
And now we know what happened with Colleen after Marvel wouldn't let Claremont do >>84067462
>>84069862
They're not dead; they're accepting new URL suggestions.
>>84069862
>>84069906
Found it.
http://cuckchan.org/co/thread/82675669/#q82675669
Like I said. Embarrassing URL.
>>84069923
Where can we send suggestions? The new name just makes me groan. 3chan (get it, it's the stuff that's on older 4chan) would be less cringy.
>>84064785
This feels like a tontine murder circle situation, or Nat Turner here using Cage and Fist to truly challenge his freelance murder skills.
>>84069754
This seems new.
>>84064830
>What was this guy's plan if Danny was twitchy and reacted by breaking his leg?
Lawsuit?
Man, if being a friend of one of the gang member doesn't get you out of paying the tolls, even while you're with him, then why bother joining the gang?
>>84070058
See I'm JUST half asleep enough to read Nat Turner as Ted Turner, so I imagined that Robot Chicken bit.
>>84069965
Or just something basic like archivechan or something.
>>84070215
Even better, since it doesn't have my nonsense pretentions of being clever.
I can't tell if that's a sinister laugh, or if he's just laughing at his brother having a stick up his ass.
ROM
O
M
>>84065379
They used to put thought into them, like they did supporting casts.
Although I guess the concept art you get in some trades are more or less the same idea.
Holy fuck, Rom's going on a rampage!
>>84065395
That K'un Lun citadel looks oddly like a rocketship or a giant robot Yellow Peril villain.
>>84070330
i loved this era when like ROM and Micronaunts and other listened stuff showed up across other 616 stuff. like it sucks that there's all the issues in reprints but it's fun
>>84070345
It's a problem I'm noticing even when I go back to some older runs. Like, I've been reading Swamp Thing, and as soon as Nancy Collins's run ended and Millar/Morrison's run started, the first thing they did was basically get rid of the entire supporting cast (including killing off the whole Cajun village).
>>84065568
The Hulks Have Eyes?
>>84070405
Speaking of, are the IDW series any good?
>>84070330
Well, given how much Mantlo we got in Power Man, it's a good choice.
Huh, you don't expect a pimp to care this much about his hoes. Like, he's on his knees crying.
>>84070447
Yeah, even some really top tier runs are guilty of that- The first thing Simonson ever did on Thor was 'kill' Donald Blake and that entire side of his story.
Luckily, the Asgard side easily made up for the loss.
>>84070447
Duffy deserves credit for not only remembering both Luke and Danny's supporting casts but also resolving their plot threads, like Thunderbolt's quest for revenge, or Colleen's father forgetting her.
>everyone else is looking at the play
>Danny and Misty are just looking into eachother's eyes
>>84065597
>Carmine Infantino
THE TRAITOR!
This is going to be a semi-acquired taste issue I think. But I like Infantino, so I'm hype.
>>84070473
Y'Know......if Rom explained shit, maybe this would go smoother. I mean Doc Stange lives in NYC and the Dire Wraiths are evil space wizards.
Instead he looks like a killer and the Bugle blames this shit on Spider-Man
>>84070532
Don't forget that she even brought up the Jean-Cyclops-Colleen love triangle here. I mean, Slott barely addressed the Carol-Spidey thing, for instance, yet here Duffy is making it a plot point.
>>84070507
Well pimps are ostensibly supposed to be protection.
>>84070655
Yeah, but now he's paying a literal wad of money to get revenge. That's a bit above and beyond a pimp's duties, you know? Shit, even Luke remembers this particular ho.
>>84070532
>>84070654
Jim Shooter ran a TIGHT SHIP.
You would ship on time, keep new readers accessible, and finish storylines.
You know, this isn't a bad look for Danny.
>>84070739
You say that, yet in a few weeks we'll get to Secret Wars II, which he personally wrote, and that's a continuity clusterfuck. I respect the man as an editor, but he had his problems.
>>84066584
Wait, did they just steal a child?
>>84070697
She might have been his girlfriend, not uncommon.
>>84070804
Does it count as stealing if the child goes with you, even if you say otherwise?
>>84070837
Pretty sure it's illegal to transport a child across state lines.
>>84070804
Man, I could totally see that crazy old man just signing her away because it meant less mouths to feed.
Man, Rom's clunky equipment really shows that he was designed as a toy first. That said, it's got a charm to it.
So yeah, it looks like Rom DOES try to explain.
>>84070896
Rom foreign language translator attachment sold separately, batteries not included.
>>84067159
What if he's evil, but a "brutally crush political dissidents for smuggling drugs in exchange for CIA weapons" kind of evil?
Was that a backhand, or a throw?
>>84063867
Take that Kanye!
If they just waited, they probably could've taken Rom out.
>>84063950
You know you're in trouble when you're about to get stomped by a member of the Headmen.
>Master Khan!
Unfortunately, the reappearance of Danny's greatest foe will have to wait until tomorrow. However, we WILL go over to Rom's series to finish this crossover tonight.
>>84064183
>Deadly disease
I thought he was injected with a cold.
>>84068132
It strikes me that Denny O'Neil as the series editor may be another source of all this narrative consistency.
>>84064308
How did he even talk to ape man to sell cage out? That was just one hell of a heel turn.
>>84070447
hell that goes back to Moore. who does takes it to the extreme and includes the lead
Friggen JJ...
>>84068607
>I forget if Eilling was involved in the frame-up
I don't know if he was directly involved in the frame, but he WAS the head of that particular drug smuggling ring, planning on using the profits to fund a coup d'etat in the States.
>>84064330
We all see it. It's better than a severed human head stitched onto a gorilla's neck. That would be nasty.
>>84071148
Moore's thing was weird. He got rid of the new supporting cast, to bring back the old ones, with his unqiue twist on them, but then by the end he brought the cast he replaced back, again adding his own twist.
>>84071185
Holy fucking shit! Moon Knight? How is old Moon Knight? Is his craziness downplayed/nonexistent?
You're seeing the future and seeing your 2016 team-up book, Luke.
Credit where it's due, it's not often you see a comic book try this, and they point out that it shouldn't work.
>>84068607
Oh hey, it's the cast of Maltese Falcon ft. Bogey, Peter Lorre, and Sydney Greenstreet.
>>84064708
>Came to warn them of danger.
>Smashed the door to get in and beat the shit out of everyone.
>Came to warn them.
Luke Cage is not a very social person.
Huh, so Turbo from New Warriors was a legacy hero.
>>84071222
This far back he might still just be a werewolf hunter.
>>84071222
I've actually read very little Moon Knight. Since I got into this hobby recently, and I'm an OCD little shit, when I get into a series, I start from vol 1 and move on, which frequently takes a while.
>>84071286
No, no he is not.
>>84064737
>>84064785
>Eyepatch
>International mercenaries operating in the 70s and 80s.
All that's left is Huey.
That shouldn't even work, Rom! The back of the truck should be falling off!
>>84069112
This guy's mountain climber gimmick is fun.
Does he get much traction? Or just disappear/die?
Has potential.
>"Solar system, galaxy, what's the difference?"
Somewhere, an astrologist is crying, and doesn't know why.
>>84071406
I like him too. It'd be interesting to see him in the Netflix series. Unlikely, but interesting.
>>84071431
Hopefully by the time the Netflix show drops, I'll be finished, and /co/ can actually have an informed discussion about Luke Cage.
>>84064969
>>84065037
What Alex Jones did before YouTube.
>>84069436
What are these yahoos doing with Lin Sun's talisman?
Well, finished with THESE storytimes. I've got other series I intend to do post the Heroes for Hire.
