I remember one time my dad took my brothers and I to the a local water park one summer while my mom was away on a business trip. He forgot to remind us to put sunscreen on and we all ended up with sunburns so bad that I actually fainted from dehydration in the hotel bathroom the next day.

Nearly fifteen years later later I think he still feels guilty about it.

i'd say i'm depressed but my bed is so awful i rather get off it when i wake up. plus it usually takes alcohol to get me to sleep. i don't remember when i got more than 6 hours of sleep in a single night without waking up.

you should exercise (or better yet, lift) if you don't already. it forces you not to be depressed.

I can only get to sleep now if I throw my arm over a second pillow. I never thought I'd understand so deeply what drives people to get body pillows.

Really the main reason I'd like a gf would be to sleep with them, quite literally. I can't imagine anything nicer than sharing a bed with a soft, warm girl to have your arms around. To fall asleep and wake up in that state must be bliss.

I almost slept through a dnd session this afternoon because I didn't want to get out of bed but everyone kept texting me to get online and eventually it annoyed me too much to stay in bed.

I hate waking up, my life is legitimately terrible and even though I don't dream very often, I feel better just being in bed wrapped in blankets, like I'm secure and safe and nothing can harm me, I can just relax and sleep forever and everything might be okay.

Sleep pretty much is the greatest thing. My system is; two cheap pillows, the expensive pillow on top of those and my nearly deflated feather pillow I've had since I was a kid on top of that. Smaller fuzzy blanket folded in half behind my back(I have trouble remembering dreams as it is but they actually don't happen unless that blanket is there) And finally bigger main blanket thrown over me and kicked and tucked under my legs.

But my reality is I could sleep standing up in my workplace if I want to and am fairly comfortable in any position. I think that's my mutant power.

I relate to this one
>>
>>84070981
I've just recently beat six straight years of clinical insomnia. I now sleep from 3 or 4 AM until 11 AM (although my alarm won't fucking go off so I'm gradually fading back into the aggrivating nothingness of insomnia). Stealing this from some flick (Fight Club?) but having insomnia is like never being either really awake or asleep and it gets worse and worse as time goes on until I was quantifiably insane considering it worsened my BPD, OCD, dissociation, etc.
ANYWAYS, my layout is a blanket I've had for a few years in the prime of its life. Not "firm" yet not deflated. Not like a beanbag of cotton yet not like a sheet of almost nothing. Not hot and not ice cold yet naturally cool. This is THE example of the perfect blanket and it's huge.
A pillow I've inexplicably acquired over the years (usually no pillowcase). On my bed I'm about 14" off the floor which is nice and of course the lights are turned out except whatever comfort show I've seen one million times I have a kick for. I either fall asleep <5 minutes or get wrapped up in the show and watch a few more episodes. Thankfully it's now voluntary and not the result of insomnia.
Sorry for my ramblings but being AWAKE after so many years is like a constant state of euphoria. It sucks because when I try to explain it it usually comes off as a cliched metaphor.
>it was like I was asleep for years and am just now waking up
>my eyes were half shut for years on end but they're finally open
>for six years I averaged under three hours of sleep each night and a half hour of "real" sleep with not one single break in all that time but not anymore which is cool I guess

I think it's entirely reasonable to get edgy around cops, regardless of race. A gun-carrying person in a position of power who is often only educated at a high school level and can kill you or ruin your life at the slightest provocation with little or no consequences is pretty terrifying.

I was in the vicinity of a car chase/crash and an officer got out of his car with his gun drawn and told me and a few friends to get back.
Waved his gun across the group of us. Completely innocent bystanders. Really uncalled for.

Reminds me of the bubble trick my friends would play on people their first time smoking pot. Basically one would mime blowing an enormous bubble around the victim, and then everyone outside the 'bubble' would pretend to have conversations, speaking silently as though there was a wall between them and the victim. It went on like that for a while, some people fell for it others didn't. I remember being aware that i was being tricked and that there was no bubble, but not being able to articulate anything, and i guess i was unusually open to suggestions, because i started to go along with the joke. I think i started panicking, then they popped the bubble.

>>
>>84074150
They're glorified as symbols of justice, how could a police officer ever do anything wrong? As a result people would rather bend the rules than admit that cops are only human. Power corrupts, especially when you appeal to their ego. A person who sees themselves as powerful or important will sometimes start to see themselves as superior to others, which can cause them to see others as disposable, or to stop seeing them as human, they become sheep in the eyes of the lawman, and a shepard has control over whether the sheep live or die.

It seems too complicated to me.

The process involves somehow recognizing patterns in your dreams, which is very hard to do when you're dreaming, and constantly checking if you're dreaming or not, like a crazy person.
>>
>>84076535
Yeah, it's pretty crazy, but it works and when you get it, it's great.

Just give yourself a tell. Do something that you can only do in real life, like read a specific line from a book every few times a day, specifically read it, don't just remember it. Since written text doesn't work in dreams, if you get yourself to read the text but it fucks up, you can realize you're in a dream, and then do anything. If you don't shock yourself into waking up.
>>
>>84076535
>not checking all the time if you're dreaming or not
It's really easy. Just shitposting in 4chan, rereading your old posts and checking the hour is enough to confirm that you're not dreaming.
>>
>>84074315

Naw, one of the best parts of a relationship was being able to fart in bed real loud and have them react by laughing and punching you in the back. Or stealing the covers (because I roll up in them) and having her unroll me and then hit me in the face with a pillow before going back to sleep.
>>
>>84076535
Convincing yourself that you want to be aware that you're dreaming worked for me, but it's not consistent. I have little control over my dreams though, but I'm pretty sure it's because my brain just goes "no, fuck you" combined with a bit of uncertainty that maybe its not actually a dream so I don't want to do anything particularly idiotic and the fact that I'm a light sleeper. It gets weird when you start worrying that moving around in a dream might cause you to move in reality.
>>
>>84076535
>constantly checking if you're dreaming or not, like a crazy person.
Nah, it just takes one or two clearly unreal events or circumstances to let me know. I'll be having a dream about being at work and realize that one of my co-workers is someone I haven't seen in years and is the wrong age. Or that I have no memory of the place that I'm working, or something completely absurd happens in the dream. Once that happens, I get this feeling like being underwater (sense of balance and gravity not matching what I see) and start to come out of the dream.

When this happens, stare at your hands. This grounds you in the dream, because of deep-seated hand-eye connections in your subconscious. Once the underwater feeling subsides, I just grab the nearest female in the dream and do whatever I want.
>>84076598
>written text doesn't work in dreams
This is false. I saw that episode of Batman too, but it's bullshit. I have read things in my dreams before.
>>

>what the fuck is happening here
>is this a dream

>proceed to wake up in sleep paralysis

It fucking blows that the only thing I can do is wake myself up and then not move for who knows how long.
>>
>>84076855
I heard that looking in a mirror while you're dreaming makes scary shit happen. Is that true?
>>
>>84076869
Sleep paralysis is the worst, I get it every time I manage to fall asleep on my back, which fortunately isn't that often. Try caring less, don't expect anything and don't be surprised at anything. I'm pretty sure that when you're aware enough to know it's a dream you're close to waking up so that's not going to help but you can usually tell just how close you are to being awake.
>>84076899
Dreams are different for everyone. Every "fun fact" about dreams is just bullshit.
>>
>>84076899
Dunno, I don't think I've ever looked into a mirror during a lucid dream.

>>84076941
Some of them are consistent among people. Like reading, you may be able to read normally in your dreams but if you try to read it again the text will change. The same thing happens with clocks.

Only ever had sleep paralysis once I think. It was like last month. It was like I woke up while still sleeping. But it didn't feel like I opened my eyes. More like a second pair of eyes opened. I was just looking at my sleeping body. I wasn't scared or terrified, more curious at the fact that I was still in deep sleep yet awake.

I learned I snored that day. More of a semi out of body experience than sleep paralysis. Wish it could happen again. Maybe the fact that I'm a heavy dreamer helped evoke that situation.

That's not a "fun fact" that shows that dreams have some set rules that apply to specific things, that's just the consequence of the way dreams work. They aren't logical and have to change so things like text will likely change or be unreadable for most people. I usually have dreams based on concepts rather than fully visual so I can't see the details but occasionally I have very HD dreams where I can see everything very clearly, imagine a blurry video where you can't see the faces but you know who each person is.

Worst part of my dreams is that nobody's identity stays the same. Not even my own. Sometimes I'd be in a first person perspective and then shift into third. Every time I recall the last dream I had, some significant character will always change into someone else. The lack off consistency is frustrating but it's always good idea material. I need to keep a journal nearby.

I managed to have a dream starting out on a date with a (fictional) girl from school, walking round a coastal version of the town I lived in. The pirates who ran it then captured her and drove off in their pirate truck, went to rescue her and inside the truck was bigger than outside, and it was like the mine in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
