Everyone on /co/ likes to recommended series only but with original Venom and with a lot of characters you're gonna man have to jump around multiple titles and issues, but I'd recommend you make it easier by purchasing the trades: Birth of Venom, Vengeance of Venom, Maximum Carnage, Venom: Lethal Protector, Venom: The Enemy Within, and the new Carnage Classic. These will cover most if not all of the early Carnage and Venom stories.

This. Venom works best with a character who is at their core flawed and morally grey liked Brock. Flash is too much of a hero which leads to pointless plots of "will he be consumed by the symbiote?" Or "will he fall back into drinking?" when the answer is always going to be a strict "no."
