We're nearing the end of our month long journey of NEW Harvey Beaks episodes with STEAMPUNKS. A 1 hour musical special dedicated the world of steampunk airing in 2 parts, the first today, and the rest tomorrow.
It's been one hell of a ride this past month, with 18 brand new episodes given to us in the past 3 weeks. But we're ending this marathon with this Steampunks musical special, and it feels like the perfect note to end it on.
Synopsis for the last two:

The Steampunk two-parter consists of the first two episodes produced in Season 2 and the episode was probably written to take place before the rest of the season. Similar thing happened in Say Uncle where Garnet was in her original form despite having regenerated to a new one a few broadcast episodes beforehand because the creators of the episode thought the episode would air before Garnet regenerated (foiled due to the first StevenBomb).

Not true at all. We've seen as much earlier this month with Why Are You Even Friends? and in episodes past like Old Fashioned Dade that Harvey still considers Dade to be his best friend and that they hang out all the time, they just don't get into episode-worthy antics like Fee and Foo.

I'm pretty sure that established that Harvey appreciates all of his friends immensely and doesn't put them over each other. When he becomes aware Dade is hurt that their relationship may mean little he reaffirms how much he means to him as a friend. He's still much more visibly close to the twins than anyone else, though he and Dade were apparently much more tightly knit when younger.

I think that originally, it was planned that the rest of Season 1 was going to be bombed off earlier (there were five episodes left after Bark Kart), a hiatus would happen afterwards and they would start airing Season 2 episodes staring with a one hour airing of Steampunks in July.
Some of the conceptual Steampunks posters literally say the episode was planned for some time in July.
Also, does this special seem like it's like Atlantis SquarePantis done right (first TV movie of SpongeBob/ZombieBob and a musical too).

iShowU HD for capturing, Quicktime 7 Pro for splicing, Handbrake for encoding, and MKVToolNix for syncing and muxing (I use VLC and my eyes to determine sync). I'm on a Mac obviously, there's probably simpler ways to do it but this was the first solution I found that worked consistently.

Man, this special was a fucking blast, solid jokes throughout and some real interesting visuals. I was rather apprehensive given it was supposed to be a musical, but the Beaks team made it work in that charming way the usual episodes pull off too. Moff was definitely the standout, which is great to see even in a feel-good show like Harvey Beaks. But most of the characters who had lines were great as were the visual jokes throughout.
I'm not really sure why Moff just flat out says he did it, but hey I can let it pass for clarity. Shame about the random animation errors though, nothing too huge again so I'm glad they tried such an interesting special.

Oh absolutely when he was gloating to him it made sense, I mean that's exactly what he'd do when it was to Harvey, his perceived 'problem'. I meant when Irving asking him about it, usually in that situation you'd expect him to just say "No I didn't do those things" and the heroes wouldn't really be able to prove it. I could have sworn that a similar thing happened in a movie called Robots, though I'm not sure, if so it's rather fitting and I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the inspirations for this special given all the steampunk similarities.

The July premiere dates just came out and Harvey Beaks isn't on it, so it'll be at least a month (can't say anyone should be surprised or disappointed by that though, we had a hell of a run).

Yeah, I'm counting like five phases that Moff's been through. The guy just never really grew up. It's pitifully sweet that Irving has shown interest in these phases despite not seeming to understand, or even like them (Steamgate). I can see why Moff is super bitter.
On another note--I wonder if Moff was always intended to be such a joke character. Carl posted him four years ago and I got the impression with his Mignola looking design that he would be a serious character. But maybe that idea fell on the wayside and the crew just played up the quirkiness of steampunk.
