Gonna story time one of my favorite stories by long time Spider-Man Writer Dan Slott. Hopefully he can return to this quality eventually. (even though I don't think he is as bad as /co/ makes him out to be)
Here's New ways to Die (The birth of Anti-Venom)

aaah yes, menace. The goblin of that period. What even happend toher?
>>84005314
It's actually a great story.
I just can't call it canon though.
>>84005704
If I'm not mistaken the last appearance of Menace was during Hobgoblin Axis asQueen Cat

Do you think New Ways to Die could work in a movie? I think if they go for Thunderbolts as the next post-Infinity War Avengers it could work but they'd have to change the story around a lot, do you think they'd go for Flash Venom immediately and just skip Brock in the MCU? I think if GOTG 2 introduces the symbiote or it is introduced via Infinity War then the next post Infinity War Spider-Man movie could be the US government getting their hands on the symbiote and giving it to Flash.

When did /co/ become a 500/250 board? I never paid attention, but I thought it was 300/150 for the longest time.
>>84009313
Oh, Norman. You unrelenting prick.
I'm glad you quit, this was just terrible.
>>84009980
It's a fun one. Dying Wish and that Mysterio story will always be Sport's best work on Amazing though.
>>84010035
I've read all of slott Spider-Man up to the current volume , it's all crap.
>>84010035
Stupid autocorrect. SLOTT not sport.
>>84005350
>Menace
Holy shit I forgot about that. The laziest villain humanly imaginable.
>We aren't using the Joker anymore for Batman! Now we have a brand new Badguy named Chuckles! He's crazy, uses comedic gadgets, is a serial killer, and no one knows his identity! Totally new villain!
>>84010071
Wouldn't you have reacted that way the first time they introduced Hobgoblin too?
>>84010054
Even Spider-Man/Human Torch: I'm With Stupid?
>>84010106
Huh, I didn't even know this existed.
>>84010095
No, because it added a different approach to the idea Norman didn't touch. Hobgoblin had a very ongoing role with the crime lords that was different to Norman's more antagonistic standpoint. Also, HG's secret identity became a much bigger point than GG's, and didn't get explored nearly as much.
Menace gave us nothing new than muh grill. Everything else was a retread.
>>84010183
It's way before Slott had his run on Amazing. Many consider it the best work Slott has done with Spider-Man. Even people who don't like anything he's done with the character since Amazing.
>>84010054
Is there anything Slott has written (besides Spider-Man) that you do like?
>>84010254
There's also that story he did about the Symbiote going out at night with Peter's sleeping body to fight crime.
>>84009313
>>84010368
Right! That was a backup he did in the nineties. Almost forgot that one.
>>84010385
>>84010399
>>84010306
His DC work/comics made for children stuff. You know, Dexter's Laboratory, Ren and Stimpy, Batman Adventures, etc. He's a solid children's writer, so is Mark Millar

>>84014823
He was some weird character introduced at the begining of this run. He was basically a drug addict doomsday. He shot up with some shit he though was meth turned out to be some experiment serum from Dr Connors and it gave him super strength acid saliva a healing factor and whatever killed him he came back adapted with some kind of defense for it
>>84014929
Ok, thanks. And thanks for the storytime too
Thanks for the storytime.
>>84010578
So is his DC work, like this anon pointed out:
>>84010454
This was amazing.
How do you think New Ways to Die will be looked at in the decades to come, how will comic historians view it?
Thanks OP, back when slott didn't suck at spidey. even then my fave of the BND writers was Kelly, however. He should've have gotten the keys to the car.
>>84014509
This was a good page.
>>84013714
Damn that's harsh, even for Normy
>>84016949
I found it to be quite Spectacular!
How the fuck did Slott go from this to the fucking driveling garbage that he's putting out now? What happened? Was Alpha the turning point?
>>84006029
>Venom! Over here!
Okay, what? I don't care how fucking loved Osborn is, not a single person in all of New York would cheer for fucking Venom.
>>84020402
It's post Civil War/pre Siege America.
The perception of who is and isn't a hero has been flipped on on its head. Besides, Venom saved people during Maximum Carnage.
>>84005339
Why does Venom look like Spawn?
>>84005314
This was quality? Really?
>>84005314
This is the story that got me into modern Spidey... Now I gotta reread it to remember what it's about!
>>84022728
That's the version of Venom that's not Eddie Brock anymore.
You know the Scorpion? That guy was given the symbiote to play with, so that version was part Scorpion themed powers too.
The white mask no-eyes were always a holdover from Peter's version of wearing it. two generations later the symbiote is changing it's look to be more like the Scorpion costume and less like the Spidey costume.
>>84022782
Just say something mean about Bendis and then magically this quality level will seem just so much better han anything we have today...
>>84014780
Thats a pointless story.
>>84013714
Hisashi Ouchi
>>84017386
It will be seen together with Brand New Day branding, which is to say utter shit.
I mean damn they regressed Peters character from a teacher to a photographer in his 30s living with his aunt in the basement. On top of that the attempt to reclaim Spiderman's golden age is so blatant that its infuriating.
And by golden age i mean the college setting with Flash in the army, Harry, MJ as hhis gf but pining for pete and Gwen.
Replace Gwen and MJ with Lilly and Carlie (who happened to be Gwen's friend if it didn't go thru ur fucking skull that she's the one). Flash is still in the army except fighting in Afghanistan this time around... it's just ugh..
Seriously there was barely anything memorable done by BND save for Mr Negative and Anti Venom. Both were underutilized and were soon butchered by Slott.
Maybe to the casual reader it might appeal to them? To me it just seems like a mistake.
That being said I enjoyed parts of the gauntlet when it was done being edgy. its follow up the Grim Hunt was shit.
>>84013714
jesus fucking christ, norman.
>>84025754
>its follow up the Grim Hunt was shit.
Don't listen to this guy his opinions are shit
>>84027837
Nah, he's right.
All Mephistoverse era crap is crud and non-canon
>>84005314
This is the only genuinely good story Slott has ever wrote for Spider-Man.
>>84013608
Somebody as strong as spiderman could loot shitloads of treasure from museums and live like a duke, everyone in new york thinks spiderman is a huge asshole.
>>84027837
Oh right ressurecting Kraven was soooo important and essential for the spidey mythos. My bad.
Wait actually, how have the Kraven family been utilized since? Only thing i recall is the admittedly mildly amusing scene in Avengerd Standoff.
Thats what it was all been leading upto. Thats why we had to ruin Kravens Last Hunt. For Kraven to have a fucking tea party with a young cosmic cube.
>>84014366
>Greatest Dad cup
Oh Norman.
