There was a thread about how would /co/ made Green Lantern : Earth one
But was about pic rel? His case seems more complicated than Batman or Superman. How could you change his story without destroying the character?
More tragic back story? Different personality? Make him younger?

Watch the Flash on CW. There you go. Same goes for Arrow.

Well Barry isn't a character so it would be easy, Wally would be the tricky one to reimagine

CW Flash it pretty much N52 Flash with a few changes.
I've seen somewhere a fanart/concept who mentioned a crippled Barry cursed by the accident who has to fake being a cripple while being The Flash.

No need to read it to know that it will be shit. Has JMS written anything good in his life?

I think grant morrison was going to write a flash story and trying to apply real life physics to it but they gave it to JMS instead

Multiversity too will be a flash story. I think it'll be about flashes of the multiverse, the part in multiversity #2 where the flash gathers other flashes to fight the gentry.

Earth One Barry? Here goes.

It starts with Barry reading a Golden Age Jay Garret Flash comic in a forensics lab, it starts raining slightly, and builds. There's a clock on the wall and you see it progress further and further.

Barry gets a call from Iris telling him he's late to something (dinner, date, meeting her folks or friends, doesn't really matter. But he's late). She isn't being a nag about it either. She's quite sweet about in, putting him down in a kind way, like she understands that Barry is tardy but loves his imperfections. In a rush Barry runs to grab his shit, but being a clutz he trips up and a bunch of shit falls and spills on him.

Lightning Strikes. Barry sees a face made out of yellow light. He then passes out.

Barry opens his eyes and he suddenly finds himself at the appointment with Iris with no real understanding of how he got there. She remarks that he isn't late, which is weird of him and makes Barry incredibly confused as she had called him earlier and he was late. Iris is in a really great mood and she and Barry drink a lot, but Barry doesn't seem to be getting drunk. Later they go home and fuck, and Barry gives Iris the greatest orgasms she's ever had. In post coital bliss she comments on how good that was and it's the best they've ever had. Asking how he learnt that. But Barry's confused.

The next day Barry gets called to be the forensic investigator on something. Once at the crime scene he instantly works out everything, but Barry thinks he took just as long as normal but everyone just thinks Barry's great. He's confused and as he leaves for home he blacks out again (but the panels go yellow not black) When he wakes he finds a weird ring on his finger. Suddenly the ring shoots out The Flash suit.

End chapter one.

>Cont. Chapter Two

Barry is now in his Flash suit and being all WTF?! And he flees back to his apartment with Iris. This is the first time he actually really sees his new powers and understands the speed. He ends up not running straight home, but makes a tour through Central City. The tour also has him helping people out of dangerous situations. Not crime-fighting, but saving people from fires or being hit by cars and shit. Mostly though he's doing it for the thrill of doing it. but he isn't a dick about it. He is still a good person, but he's become a bit of an adrenaline junkie since discovering his powers. He arrives home before Iris (which is a first for him, being tardy and all) and realises what he's wearing so he changes his outfit. Also, throughout the tour of Central City there are posters for a new exhibition/enclosure at the Central City Zoo called "Gorilla City".

Iris arrives home to find Barry back before her (he's cooked dinner, done the washing, and cleaned the house) so she's a little taken back but isn't complaining. And they go to the bedroom to fuck. A green meteorite passes through the night sky

Due to Barry earlier doing the forensics (in a flash) some detectives go to arrest the suspects. The suspect kills the cops and escapes (we don't see how they die, just that it's fucked and chars their corpses). Barry arrives at work the next day with the police force basically on the warpath to find the cop killer. Barry does more forensic work, including some hands on investigation (by speedstering around). Throughout that sequence the weather is really weird. He tells the police chief/his superior that the cops were killed by lightning. The police chief says that's impossible.

We cut to the zoo enclosure. We see a Silver Back bull studying the patterns of some of the keepers. The other gorillas aren't problem-solving and we see the gleam of intelligence in this particular Silver Back's eyes.

>Cont.

Due to Barry's investigation even though the chief doesn't buy Barry's theory on lightning they do accept Barry's theory on the cop-killers location. And cops gear up to arrest him. Barry is concerned and rushes home to gears up as the Flash.

We then cut back to the Silver Back and one of the keepers is bringing them their food and calls out their names just saying "Hi" to them, none of the gorilla's react except the one who's been studying who smirks when the keeper says his name "Grodd".

Full fucking swat team is ready to take out the cop killer at the location Barry has given them. The weather is abysmal. The storm the location and lightning strikes the vanguard. Suddenly those cops find themselves outside the building and being seeing a red blur.

Barry rushes to apprehend the cop killer and it's the Weather Wizard who is basically keeping himself protected by being in the eye of a storm. Barry fights the Weather Wizard while the cops looks on helplessly. Barry defeats him and cuffs him so he can't use his powers. The cops sees the speedster properly and he announces himself as The Flash before speeding away.

Back at Gorilla City Grodd takes out the zoo keeper and eats his brains, learning in the process.

>Chapter three

Grodd buries the body of the now brainless zoo keeper.

The police chief comes to Barry and tells him he was right about the lightning and that he should have listened to him. Barry says thanks before and the chief leaves before another yellow out.

We cut to Iron Heights with Weather Wizard being kept under tight lock and key awaiting trial.

Barry wakes up in his bed naked sweating and Iris holds him close saying it was just a bad dream. He kisses her and they cuddle and she asks if he wants to talk about it. Barry says he can't remember the dream. Barry, now restless decides to go and watch some TV. Iris says once Barry leaves. "He can't be the Flash, can he?" Barry smiles as the Flash is mentioned on a late night news show.

Grodd keeps learning more and more about how to escape and begins to mentally influence zoo patrons and keepers into doing little things. Not some much mind controlling them as influencing them. He realises he needs "more".

The early hearings for the trial begin. Weather Wizard pleads not guilty and bail is refused. As he's taken out of the courtroom we see a man in a white-fur trimmed coat leave last.

Grodd interacts with a child at the zoo and is mentally influencing him to grow fond of Grodd. Later that night the child sneaks out of home and manages to sneak into the Zoo. Grodd kills the child and eats their brains.

(It's Earth One, some shit can be fucking dark).

Barry wakes up the next day and does another speedster tour though Central City helping people. People recognise him as the Flash and the people of Central City are warming to Barry and view him as their local hero. Also he stops a bank robbery this time, and watching the bank robbery from nearby hidden in plain sight (at like a cafe or something) is the man in the white-fur trimmed coat.

Gorilla Grodd tries out his mental control on a security guard working the graveyard shift. It works but very slowly and reluctantly, but works nonetheless. Controlling the child was about influence and Grodd befriending the child during his time there. He didn't force the child to do something against their will, but with the security guard he is now for the first time mind-raping someone. Again he eats their brain and in the process escapes.

Iris is sent to the zoo to determine what happened with the escaped Gorilla. She's shocked and sickened when she discovers the three brainless victims. A police investigation begins.

Barry is assigned to determine the forensics, but rather than risk the cops being taken out by a brain eating Gorilla he decides to suit up and take out the Gorilla before anyone else gets hurt. Plus Iris vented to him about the horror of discovering the child-corpse sans brain.

Barry rushes off to take out Grodd but Grodd begins using his mental control on Barry. He begins controlling Barry a bit but before he can gain full control over the Flash Barry GTFOs and arrives home. Shaking and visually disturbed about having an animal enter his mind.

Iris is there and she sees Barry realises he's still in his outfit. She tells him she knows. He looks confused and she mentioned that he talks in his sleep. They kiss and she begins leading Barry to the bedroom. He begins taking off his outfit and she says leave it on.

Grodd has a lair and has eaten many brains.

Weather Wizard is being transported to court when all of a sudden the vehicle he's being transported in crashes. Him and another cop are relatively unhurt from the crash. The cop goes to find out what's what when BAM he's shot with a cold gun. Leonard Snart introduces himself to Weather Wizard. They talk for a little while and Weather Wizard asks Snart why he helped. Snart replies that "rogues like us gotta' look out for each other."

>Chapter Four

The menace of Gorilla Grodd is not taken particularly serious by either the police department or the media. The more concerned with how the Weather Wizard escaped, and the media are treating Grodd like a funny story. Iris asks her editor if she can write something about how Grodd is leaving a train of brainless victims and wants to write a report about someone who was brain washed. The editor says people like Gorilla's, why not write a happy story about Grodd. She's has a "your shitting me" face as the final panel of that page.

Barry goes to try and take out Grodd again, but is unable to get anywhere near as close before his mind begins getting controlled. He yellows out again.

Captain Cold and the Weather Wizard have a talk and Snart is basically tell him not to be so trigger happy as it only brings more heat down on them. Weather Wizard replies that Snart killing multiple cops escorting him is going to bring heat down either way and that they need to worry about The Flash more than the cops. Snart says the Flash has bigger issues than them.

Barry comes too and finds himself back with Iris. He basically has a bit of a breakdown about how what it's like having his mind controlled, how invasive and violating it is. She calms him and he tells her how she's always there for him and calls her his lightning rod. Barry resolves to stop Grodd.

Weather Wizard and Captain Cold begin their thieving rampage. They rip off a bunch of banks, the museum, an art gallery, and STAR Labs. Barry continues trying and failing to take down Gorilla Grodd.

At work the police force is basically 100% focused on the Weather Wizard and his "accomplice" (they don't know it's Snart yet), but Barry is more concerned about Grodd as he's actually killing people.

Grodd's intelligence and power has grown significantly....

... We begin to see why Grodd has been trying to gain power. It's basically about how Gorilla's are poached either to be killed or put in zoos. Story you've heard a lot but Grodd is basically gaining power to help his people (gorilla's in this case). And it was the green meteor which gave him power. With his new found intelligence and mind control powers he's basically full on mad scientist now and is building something which can teleport his people to another dimension. And part of it it looks a like a treadmill, an almost "cosmic treadmill". He's able to see into other dimensions through someone he's mind controlling. A metahuman who can see strange shit through mirrors.

Captain Cold and Weather Wizard pull off a heist with perfect precision. It goes exactly as Snart had planned. But the Weather Wizard wants to flex his powers and basically kills a fuckton of people when they had already succeeded, much to the dismay of Captain Cold.

With this news Barry decides to take Captain Cold and the Weather Wizard seriously. The Flash goes to control them, but with Snart's cold gun he's unable to engage with Snart as his gun controls absolute zero where there can be literally no movement. Barry calls out to Snart that he's protecting a murderer and Captain Cold answers "What can I say? We Rogues gotta look out for one another".

Grodd stages a breakout of the other gorilla's and brings them to his lair. They lack the intelligence he does and uses his mind-controlled lackeys to work out a formula to give them intelligence. It takes time but they're slowly beginning to learn.

Barry, frustrated by not being able to stop either the Rogues of Gorilla Grodd has another yellow out. He sees the yellow face again and it says "Run Barry, Run!"

A shot of a woman with a knife in her chest. Red and yellow lightning circles her.

Gorilla Grodd gets the mind-controlled Mirror Master to show him universe without humans where the gorilla's of Gorilla city can go and live. The other gorilla's have gained significantly more intelligence, but still aren't very bright. Basically they're as smart as really stupid but not clinically retarded people.

Captain Cold and Weather Wizard and partying it up after their success in evading the Flash. Weather Wizard is having a riot while Captain Cold is still remaining pretty calm and chill.

Barry finds himself back in Iris's arms and she asks if he's okay? He answers that he is now and he knows what to do. She doesn't understand and he says he knows how to put the ring back in the suit now. She has no idea what he's talking about but suddenly Barry is able to put the Flash suit back inside the ring. He walks over to his Golden Age comic collection and says "Thank you Jay", before popping the ring out of his suit again.

The two Rogues are pulling another heist and it again goes perfect. Captain Cold can tell the Weather Wizard is on edge and tells him to relax and keep cool but he goes all thunderous and kills some innocent bystanders again. Captain Cold shrugs with frustration but doesn't act. As they're in the gettaway car Captain Cold puts on some weird headphones which Weather Wizard comments on being aren't those the headphones you took from STAR Labs. Captain Cold remarks that they're much better than "Beats by Dre". He directs Weather Wizard to take a different route than the planned one. Weather Wizard asks why and he explains that sometimes the shortest way isn't always the fastest.

Flash runs really fast and arrives at Grodd's lair. His mind is instantly assaulted and the other gorilla's have gained proper intelligence at this stage.

Grodd mind controls Barry into running on the cosmic treadmill to power it up. As he does that The two Rogues arrive within Grodd's mind control place and Weather Wizard is effected and begins creating a crazy lightning storm.

One of the gorilla's is watching a report on TV and sees Iris commented on how Grodd ate people's brains and in particular the brains of a child. The gorilla is appalled by Grodd's actions and leaves the TV is disgust.

Through the Weather Wizard's lightning and Barry's speed a portal begins to form Grodd goes to summon the other gorillas so they can escape to their new home.

Captain Cold leaves the car after parking it outside Grodd's lair. The Weather Wizard is still mind controlled into creating lightning. Barry is still running on the treadmill.

Captain Cold sneaks through Grodd's lair. Grodd has summoned the other gorillas but the one watching TV accuses Grodd of being a monster. Saying that he's no better than the people who captured them for indiscriminately killing people. Grodd is taken aback by this.

While the gorillas have congress Snark pulls out another pair of headphones and pulls them on Barry.

Barry uses the cosmic treadmill to its full potential now and runs back in time to just before Captain Cold and Weather Wizard left on their heist. Barry tells convinces Snart to help him, basically Barry has caught Snart without his cold gun and could take him and the Weather Wizard in now if he wanted too but he needs Snart's help. Snart says he'll only help if Weather Wizard proves to be a liability. Barry then flashes off and we're back at the present.

Snart and Barry together take out Grodd with Snart even killing the gorilla saying he needed to be "put down" before leaving and saying that the Weather Wizard is all his. The gorilla who accused Grodd of being a monster says his name is Solovar and asks the Flash what is to become of them. Flash goes back on the treadmill and makes it work again...

>cont.

>>84005540

>Cont.

Flash explains that while Grodd's methods were monsterous his intentions were noble and opens the portal to the other universe. The Gorillas collect the materials they needs to gives intelligence to the other gorillas on this planet and tells the Flash that he isn't only the hero of Central City but also Gorilla City. They go through the portal.

Barry drops the Weather Wizard off with the police to again put him under tight lock and key before going home to Iris where he tells her that no one has to worry about Grodd again. They go to fuck.

>Epilogue

Weather Wizard is being transported by to Iron Heights and again the vehicle he's in is stopped. This time two of the cops are fine but both are quickly taken out, though not by a Cold Gun. "G'dday Mate!" is heard and Weather Wizard sees Captain Boomerang and Captain Cold have rescued him with Snart announcing "We Rogues gotta' look out for each other."

At STAR Labs there's a new arrival. The security lady asks for ID which she presents. She mentions that's an interesting name almost like its "from another time". The new arrival smiles and the final panel on that page ends with the name being revealed as Eobard Thawne.

A Flash of Red Lightning is the Final Page.

Fair enough. I was viewing each chapter as a single issue so to speak and other than the final one I can see the others all fitting into a single issue.

The reason why the "yellow outs" aren't explained is that they're obviously connected to the speed-force in certain ways and the Flash mythos as well and I don't think that shit should be done quickly but rather over time. Hence not introducing Eobard till the epilogue.
>>
>>84005638
That's pretty good, man. Better than Superman E1, at least, and potentially Batman E1 which I did like, fuck y'all.
I dunno about Cold going back for Weather Wizard - one of the hallmarks of the Rogues is that they've got a code, which your Weather Wizard seemed to breach, multiple times - but that could be fine if it was followed up on in volume 2.
All in all, seems pretty well structured, and a good way to get the Rogues, Grodd and foreshadowing of Reverse Flash into one volume.
>>
>>84005818

If I'm ever writing a superhero comic where the superheroes get to fuck they're keeping their costumes on!
>>
>>84005861

The reason I'd have Captain Cold go back for Weather Wizard isn't so much so Weather Wizard can come back rather it's to point out that Captain Cold gives Barry a headache. Like they've teamed up to take out Grodd, with Snart "sacrificing" Weather Wizard, but Snart still fucks with the Flash by rescuing him.

Also, with more story I'd deal with the aftermath of both Weather Wizard and Mirror Master being mind controlled by Grodd and how that has basically fucked with them psychologically, especially Mirror Master.
