Cloud Galactus case at least besides being a cloud was closer to the comics than Fanfourtic Doom. I honestly don't know why people hate FF1 and FF2 so much. Wasn't the greatest films but it had a certain charm to it and besides Alba and Doom it had good casting.

well the cloud while kind of stupid at least isn't a complete slap in the face to the character, since the way galactus appears is based on what the creature looking at him is able to comprehend. so his true form very well could be a giant space cloud

I think he was supposed to be, but they never found the right look with their VFX, and so just had SS go into the centre.
I liked the helmet horns glowing in the cloud, and I think the shape of the cloud could be done to be terrifying in modern VFX.
I actually really like the concept and even think that those fantastic four movies did a lot right tone-wise, but were too silly for the 00's brooding and sarcastic times. Also the plots were generally to soap-opera, but when they had torch and the thing interact and pull shit on one another it was hillarious. We will never have a better or even as good Thing. Probably the same for Johnny and Reed.

My hope was the cloud was just how Galactus travelled through space, he'd reach a planet and assume the form of the dominant life form. We see him envelop Earth, and in New York it's black skies with purple lightning pulsing through. A foot shape steps from the cloud, and walks down as though it's going down a stair case, with each step more and more of his body is formed, gathering the cloud from across the planet, finally pulling together in to his full Galactus body, still a head taller than the Baxter building with the FF on the roof looking up at him.

Galactus has always had that selective perception trick. Maybe he always WAS a cloud and we feeble humans saw him as human because we couldn't possibly comprehend him as anything but. As H.P. look at him as a new character all together, as Weapon XI, since thats what he is in the movie. Stryker just calls him a "dead pool" because all the powers were put into him, making him a dead pool of mutant powers. That wasnt Stryker calling him "Deadpool" all that was, was a little nod to Wade becoming Deadpool at some point.

The cloud around Galactus was just the result of the ship's gravity. It's a debris field. Which makes perfect sense and added to the effect of him being an ungodly huge threat
