I'm sorry burger but only you have audible reactions in movie theaters.
In my autistic culture, girls that scream during horror movies get shushed out of the theater

Watch the original again

It was short term memory loss

She gets excited when she remembers something for a long time

I thought the movie was great. yeah it was no Finding Nemo but it was still a great sequel. All of the new characters were gold

>Having a cute little kid scene about our protagonist is forced as fuck
You're right, she should have had the personality of a brick and done nothing, that would've been fun to watch. Or maybe she should have acted like a modern-day child and bullied someone to death, that would have fit within the narrative.

Name one fucking time a "our hero is a little kid backstory" scene in animation wasn't suppose to be fucking adorable. Maybe you meant you're sick of the trope, but kids who aren't screaming do tend to be cute.

To be honest, I found it really annoying that we kept cutting back to this version of Dory. It was really cute and funny in the opening, but it felt like a quick joke, not the sort of character design to carry a movie.

ACTUAL SPOILERS

~STORY~
Too everywhere. There wasn't a scene that ever felt like it was touched on for long enough. It felt like they had a bunch of jokes or ideas that would look good and used too many of them instead of trying to build upon them. Also the jumping between 3 subplots at the end (nemo+his dad, hank+dory, beluga+destiny) really solidified that they had too much going on and lost focus. Story is still entertaining though, I think the pacing was way too fast.

~CHARACTERS~
I want to befriend that whaleshark.
Beluga was memey
Hank was gr8
Sigourney cameo voice was funny

Another note I should mention is that they created a bunch of unnecessary characters. Those small crabs in the "Dory's old home" scene, those seals, that sneezing fish, that clam, those incompetent truck drivers all made for comedic relief. It was just more than necessary and sort of feels like wasted effort.

That squid was a shitty conflict. That whole scene was placed too early in the movie and never felt like a real threat at ALL.

~VISUALS~
Fucking incredible. Technology is neat.
Most technologically impressive moment to me was the scene with the kids touching fish. Dory's fishtank home looked good from an aesthetic standpoint, but I still don't think it required anything render-intensive as far as simulation goes.

~SOUND~
Music wasn't memorable and neither was sound design. Maybe that's a good thing, at least for sound, that you don't notice it.

~OVERALL~
They made a good film with lots of conflict but not enough tension for each instance. Some new characters were greatly welcomed but some were too reddit (like the lolsorandom seal and "LE OFF OUR ROCK" meme).

Looks fantastic and keeps all the original characters true to themselves, but has poor progression and useless characters (probably for toys anyways).

>~SOUND~
>Music wasn't memorable and neither was sound design. Maybe that's a good thing, at least for sound, that you don't notice it.

I gotta say, I felt like it was a major red flag when the opening titles visually mimicked those of Finding Nemo, but completely lacked DAT THEME TUNE that went with the original, which was so iconic and defining. Not only did Finding Dory's version not live up to it, I can't even remember if it tried to - was anything hummable even accompanying the titles, or was it just atmosy music?
>>
>>83967652

It's now my opinion that the Axiom's intercom was the Wall•E universe's Sigourney Weaver as well.
>>
>>83967797
well yeah

it's Sigourney Weaver

same one that knocked an alien queen out of the airlock of an attack cruiser with a powered exoskeleton.
>>
>>83965253
>To be honest I'm more excited for their shorts than their movies these days.
Same here. If I could have spent the value of a ticket to watch Paperman for 2 hours, I probably would have.
>>
>>83967638
It felt like a hollow movie at best, a mere shadow at worst.

It lost a lot of the charm and vigour Finding Nemo had in it.

Dory doesn't hold a lot of weight or content as a character of her own. Which is why the movie was a disappointment.
>>
Anyone else surprised that Sia's song at the end of the movie was a better Bond song then Sam Smith made? Cause it sounded a lot like a bond movie song.
>>
>>83967734

Are you implying the music of the first film was anything less than excellent, or just mocking me for being a pleb who doesn't know fancy words and describes beautiful music motifs or whatever with the same words I'd use to describe the Oscar Myer Weiner song?
>>
>>83955296
cute movie

how a the beluga went from not knowing what glasses were to knowing about police, jail, cars, freeways and traffic was odd tho.
>>
>>83967875
It was Unforgettable, originally performed by Nat King Cole.

It did feel like a Bond song in the credits. However, it wasn't as good a performance as Nat King Cole's. Nor the duet with Nat King Cole's daughter Natalie.
