>ITT Comfy cartoons
No shame edition,
It helped that most of the series seemed to be during Fall and dealt with some more adult topics.
Hate the style or not Then She Was Gone was GOAT
Annoying Orange was pretty comfy
>>83937027
I actually like the KC style. Its ugly as hell, i admit.
Ginger was great, tho. Ahh real monsters holds up pretty well, in my opinion.
Brambly Hedge
EEnE is kinda comfy. The cast is always the same through the entire run and the bizarre place where they live, where there are no adults, is a pretty comfy setting.
I always found Hey Arnold! to be insanely comfy

This and ginger had lots of foot service.
it seems incredibly rare to have a cartoon about normal kids doing normal kids stuff these days.
Now they have to be magic, super heroes, or super geniuses.
Something like As Told by Ginger seems to only happen in anime lately.
>>83939153
They really did.
Please stop labeling cartoons as comfy, they aren't couches.
>>83937027
WHY DID KC PUT NIGGAS MOUTHS ON THEIR CHINS
FOR WHAT PURPOSE
>>83939837
Because this is the iPad generation. If it isn't bright, colorful, and filled with random shouting its not going to get noticed next to all the YouTube videos out there
Gingerbros are cool and underrated.
>>83943045
Did they have ipads and youtube in the 80s when cartoons were like that too?
>>83939837
This. Out of the lot of cartoons I've seen on tv nowadays, Harvey Beaks and Clarence are the only two cartoons that are normal.
And that's kinda stretching it, because Harvey Beaks is full of talking animals, and Clarence is full of mental ward patients.
Mostly because of the artstyleand also because I still find Lenore funny.
>>83943832
Good point.
>>83943045
I think western audiences are simply not attracted to that sort of thing compared to the east. I wish there existed more "realistic fiction" series.
There was this one web cartoon that I absolutely loved to watch on rainy days. It wasn't very comfy thematically or in presentation, but just watching it curled up in a blanket made me feel really content.
It was about a retired hitman named John or Johnny or something like that, drawn with a gray rectangle head, who tried getting a faceless job at a big company to drop off the radar. I can't remember the name of the web series to save my life. It had this really sketchy art style that wasn't really 'good', but worked well enough.
I'd love to watch it again someday though. So much nostalgia on a rainy day especially.
Steven Universe may qualify as "comfy action". It's like, pastoral myth and shit.
mandatory

I watched a few episodes of this a few years ago and couldn't tell if I liked it or not, so I stopped. Looking at this picture makes me want to watch it again, so I guess I liked it.
>>83944682
Yeah it's pretty hard to find. I was hoping there would be a bigger selection of it in comics once you get out of the Big 2, but it seems like even smaller publishers just love the capes. I ordered some Archie, so I'm hoping that's kind of what I'm looking for.
>>83944474
>Mental Ward patients
I'm late as fuck but you misspelled 'children'
>>83937225
Whenever someone asked me my favorite cartoon, I would scream AHGHGHGHGHGGG!
then quickly say real monsters.
Good times.

So Ginger was barefoot a lot?
>>83939039
I really enjoyed the school eps of EEnE. It was super comfy
I couldn't stand the Ginger art style when I was a kid. To this day it makes me cringe. Kind of makes me sad that I can't look past it, because apparently it was a good show.
The only part that I remember ever watching involved her mentally challenged friend sperging about Ginger having her first kiss or something. That little cunt's voice sealed the deal and I never watched the show again.
>>83937027
Just here to say that Ginger's friend Doddy or whatever was SO fucking annoying and I couldn't get over that when I was a kid. Also Miranda was my favorite character.
>>83947347
I've gone back and watched some of Ahhh real monsters recently. I still love the character designs and animation, but damn the episode layouts are all over the place, and Jokes were only funny as a kid. I feel like I should just rewatch it without the sound or something.
>>83946807
I really liked this one, though I experienced it late while I was in high school so I kinda watched it in secret.
I own both seasons on DVD, I am beyond feeling shame. In all seriousness, it really upsets me how people act like this show is A LOT worse than it actually is. Believe me, I've seen much worse.
>>83950001
wait, did they steal the dude from Final Fantasy 9 or the other way around?
my vote for comfiest cartoon goes to Madeline
>>83950064
Please be trolling.
>>83950209
Madline is no joke

Everything done by Klasky Csupo is an insult to the miracle of eyesight
>>83939153
>>83948858
Not THAT much. If that's what you're looking for try The Simpsons.
Lisa hardly ever wears socks.
>>83947391
>imagine yourself as Ginger
>realize later in life you're actually Macie
>yfw
> So well scripted, edited, and themed it felt like an actual cartoon despite being live action
>>83937027
Third season sucked.
>>83945855
i think i vaguely remember that too. was Johnny described as "suppish" or something?
This show introduced me to jazz.
Doug, 70's Paddington Bear, and 80's Moomin come to mind
>>83939837
>only happen in anime lately.
And is fucking shit.
>>83953260
I heard that's gone downhill.
Maybe people could go for that psycho girl in Bob's Burgers.
>>83950806
All Grown Up wasn't that bad.
Ginger was a GOAT protag I honestly think the show was fantastic.
>>83959818
The writing was.
>>83939837
As Told By Ginger was aimed at teenagers, mainly teenage girls, not kids. That's also why it didn't do very well because most teenagers who watch cartoons want superheroes and action. There's a viable audience for shows like ATbG in nostalgic adults (the same kind who watch SoL anime in Japan) but there's not really a market for it in American TV.
>>83939837
>As Told by Ginger
>Rocket Power
>Hey Arnold
>Weekenders
>Recess
Man the late 90s and early 2000s were full of "slice-of-life" cartoons.
>>83960819
As a non-American I found these shows fascinating windows into American culture. A shame they aren't a thing anymore.
>>83937027
Someone edit this so that the mouth is higher up on her face not so puffy

Underrated post, truely underrated.
Its not beautifuly animated, more like a sory book, easy to follow and reminds me of the old days, 2006-09. Lenore is adorable, along with the other characters, like the string bean.
>>83950064
>Final Fantasy 9 came out in 2000.
>He-Man came out in the early 80's.
Gee, I wonder!
>>83950064
>my vote for comfiest cartoon goes to Madeline
Yeah that was comfy.

These. There was a comforting feeling watching these shows. They weren't overtly silly or zany and had a sense of realism with their topics and subject matter.
>>83937027
>>83937027
>that episode where ginger gets slut shamed
This show had it all
