Yes. It wraps up the series in a nice neat little bow with Barry preventing the death of his mother, the incarceration of his father, the murder of Harrison Wells and his wife, etc., etc.
It changes the season 1 finale from the nonsensical "STOP SPEEDY SELF" to Barry being too afraid of losing what he has to risk righting the timeline, but after self-actualizing and beating Zoom he was at peace enough to erase his timeline to right what Thawne had wronged.

Thawne went back in time, tried to kill Barry, killed Nora, Barry no longer became the Flash/his timeline stopped existing so he lost his speed force connection and had to turn Barry into the flash to get home. That's the entire reason he body snatched Wells and blew up the accelerator.
Barry stopping his mother's death and either dealing with Thawne or letting him run home DOES right the timeline.
