Good evening owls of /co/,

Tonight's guest star will be Grant Morrison
>>
>>83912521
also we're getting close to the end of this run--66 is the last issue, #67 has to do with Blackest Night, and there's an eight-issue mini

Hello Storyteller.

>War of the Gods
Well at least this tie-in actually has something to do with the event. Unlike the Captain Atom WotG tie-in issue... And hey, my girl Circe's in this one!

I know it's just a few shops and the comichron numbers are what retailers get but I want CW2 to fail

I knew I started posting Morrison's Doom Patrol for a reason.

Oh, wait, that was because of Young Animal.

>"Great week. Easily one of the best Wednesdays we have ever had. Only cause for concern? Civil War 2 had a bigger than expected drop off. Even Scooby Apocalypse 2 managed to outsell Civil War 2 here. We didn’t sell through half of what we ordered. Hoping the latest issues has some legs. People really don’t seem to care about the “deaths” in the latest event."

This is something I've been kind of noticing with movies as well, audiences can tell when something is some shat out cash-in and know they're being patronized.

But then something like Minions is a national sensation and I don't know anymore.

>>

Hey, thanks for doing that one. I'm behind, but so far it's really good. I need to buy it when I can even.
>>

I get why kids like Minions, what I understand less is why ADULTS like them so much

One of my college teachers and her husband were minions for Halloween, multiple people where I work have little minion figurines on their desks, it's fucking weird
>>

Yeah, I was at Finding Dory today and kids seemed to really like the various animated trailers, despite seeming very bad and phoned in.

>>
>>83912818
Grant's a nice guy, he wouldn't say to no something like that. Problem is, that run had a certain finality to it and I'd like this new run to be more of a reboot with callbacks to different era, make it a bit meta in that "it all happened, but maybe it all didn't happen exactly like you remember". It also brings up my original fear that he'll just try to ape Morrison(and maybe Pollack too) instead of doing his own thing.

It's just stuff like the open-ended magic system, more choice in what's available to the player. NPCs who you can't kill even where that really jars with a questline you're expected to complete. Morrowind even has secret ways of completing the game if you do kill some plot essential NPCs. And, personal taste, but I prefer it when you can't fully complete all of the guild/house/daedra stuff in one run-through. "The Dragonborn was head of the fighter's guild, then the mage's guild, then the thieves' guild" seems like pushing it even for in-universe fiction. I guess I feel that Morrowind is more of a world you're part of.

I think if the next TES game is Hammerfell, that'll work out okay. But I don't want them to do the Summerset Isles or Valenwood or Black Marsh, because there's no way it'd deliver on what I'd want and what the lore promises.

Barbara, pls.

>I can't get my brain around current 21-year old Babsgirl
Hate to sound like a broken record, but they've simply taken away everything about her that was interesting or even useful.

It all comes back to the slow death of supporting casts. See, recently people have taken this attitude that being a supporting character is a bad thing, that it makes a character less "important" or worthwhile. But Babs herself is an excellent example of why that's bullshit. Oracle was cool, she could give people the hook up and was major player in the superhero community. As Batgirl, she's just another cape.
>>
>>83913930
>>
>>83913958
They have made efforts to give her a supporting cast of her own though. I agree, it basically is a different character - but if it's one that they can market now, then eh.
>>
>>83913987
I can deal when I think of her as a different character and a different niche

I am curious to see if this BoP relaunch with her headlining can convince me of what the solo did not wrt Dinah, etc.

It’s not surprising that Dini would make this pitch. As head writer of the Batman shows in the DCAU, he was critical in keeping the image of Barbara Gordon as Batgirl alive. In 1994 he added her to his Batman: the Animated Series and she also appeared in subsequent The New Batman Adventures. This pitch was made in 2000, at the end of “Adventures” run. And just about the same time that DC told Scott Peterson to find a “new” Batgirl.

When DC decided to introduce a “Batwoman” they returned to the Ross who gave them this:

>>Denny shot it down, because, according to him, everybody loves Barbara Gordon as Oracle and as a handicapped character. The theory was that DC didn’t have enough handicapped characters, so they weren’t going to do anything with Barbara as she was. And the design went into the drawer.”

RIP oracle

>>
>>83914967
>When asked in an interview what happened to Nemesis (Tom Tresser), why he was killed in Catwoman #62, and was it true that his death was editorially mandated, Catwoman writer Devin Grayson explained:
Nemesis from the Justice League Unlimited animated series.
“ I was actually hoping to use Nemesis for the role in which I ended up using Trickster – cheerful foil and potential romance. But yes, I was told that he was scheduled to be eighty-sixed – an editor liked his name, but didn't like the character, and had plans, I guess, for a 'new' Nemesis.

He wasn't slated to die in Catwoman, but I figured that if he was on his way out, his death might as well be handled by someone who liked and respected him – I tried really hard to show what a great character he was before I killed him in such a way as to ensure that should anyone change their mind, they could bring him back without too much trouble.

I found bows pretty fun in Skyrim but - no point making a character you don't want to play.
>>
>>83915889
the big bad bow you get in Dawnguard is pretty fun

Ostrander was under some pressure from DC to go back to capes and he figured since the book was ending it couldn't do any harm

Power of Shazam was like 94

FYI, there used to be a character in Supergirl who was an annoying teen obsessed with dating her named Johnny O who corresponded to the years Ostrander hung around DC offices and bugged the writers.

/d/ IS what Wonder Woman Amazons were created for.

Wonder how they have a word for Meta-human though.

Who was it that came up with the Urban Legend crap for Batman again?

Because I think he was still doing shit like this when he was supposed to be an Urban Legend.

Looks more like Jimmy Olsen as played by CLint Howard to me.

This is my biggest issue with nuBabs.

It just fucking removes all those years of experience and triumphs and losses and friendships and leadership and leaves her a hollow fucking doll prancing around and giggling to herself as she inexplicably beats people up.

It fucking cored out her all her characterization that made her originally boring and dumb character from the silver age into a real likeable character.

And this is an improvement how?

Rgh, I still get so mad about it, and then I have people tell me I just hate her and must hate Batgirl in general and must be a casual or whatever other nonsense they have up their sleeve.

Didn't "The Writer" show up in Day of Vengence too?

Or did I just read both of those in the same day and conflate them somehow?

Also, why is John Henry white?
>>
>>83913596
I think he just wanted to have a giggle and recently read Animal Man.

Guess writer didn't show up in Day of Vengeance and I just read them both on the same day or some shit.

This storytime is reminding me how much I liked Count Vertigo when he was in Suicide Squad. I haven't read much in the way of Green Arrow comics though, does anybody have any recommendations for good storylines with him?

Henry is only his middle name.

hot, but she's way to much of a Domme for that to break her. Wondie and Harley on the other hand, are maaaasive subs and would be begging for more whippings.

Is Black Adam the only guy as blood thirsty and black as Waller?
