Not so much evil evil but more Red created the DHMIS universe. You saw: those were his songs; he was at the computer; he made the calls; he could pull the plug. He wanted to create DHMIS as an escape so badly and he ended up falling into it. likely madness.
The only question is Yellow kid and if Red guy forced him to be part of the project.

What if Roy is actually intended as a 'good' character as Yellow's father, but seen in the creepy way he's shown because their reliance on lessons from the media has distanced Yellow, and previously the other characters, from responsible adults. This would explain why he has been present in all but 1 episode, but mostly forced to stand at a distance.
Many believe that Red has represented a teenager, Yellow a child, and Green an elderly person. When Red 'grew up' into adulthood and left the series, he tried to reach them with the phone call in Episode 5 to warn them against listening only to the media as he had seen the effect it had had on him in later life. This effect is seen in Episode 6, where the real world is monotonous and the cutesy life lessons have not prepared him properly, instead giving a warped view of the world which does not work when applied to reality (hence the weird stuff in each episode and him being denied by the other workers). Red then goes on to realise that he, as an adult, has the ability to influence the lessons taught to Yellow, but cannot directly interact due to the stronghold the media has on him, in effect being put in a similar position to Roy. He can instead only flip switches on a board, choosing lessons like channels on a TV. When Roy taps him on the shoulder Red realises what has truly been happening across the series and they come to a mutual understanding about what must be done. Red does what Roy was too afraid to do; he tries to free Yellow by removing the influence of the media entirely, unplugging the desk. We do not see whether this is successful.

I still really dig the theory from last thread that the office scene was a flashback to Red developing the idea for the show, and then the night club scene was Roy discovering Red and then offering to help him produce the show.

Yellow is Roy's self insert, and punishes Yellow as a way of punishing himself. Green is an actor who fucked off in the middle of production and Red was both a director and actor.

I think I know the answer. ..
Red wanted to show off his ideas to people. He tried but failed. Then he met Roy. Roy saw his son as an idiot so he wanted to punish his son while teaching him at the same time. So both Roy and Red created a show. But then Roy took over and used Red's ideas to force his son to learn through song.
The Green Bird is not real and is made to keep his son from freaking out but then became self aware. So Roy killed off Green Bird. Red meanwhile somehow forgot and by the forth episode he was so mindblown, he blackout then went into a dream to remember his past then woke up near the control station. That when Roy tried to stop him, but red pulled the plug to stop him. But as for the last part... I dont really know.
