The ancient space race of the universe sends an emissary of each natural element on Earth to the planet to recruit Supers for an Element War.
Each Emissary can sway the minds of those with powers based on that element; Fire Elemental can recruit Human Torch, Water can recruit Namor, Earth recruits Ben Grimm from outer space (he's made of rock, it's a stretch I know) and so on.
This can include Electricity, (all the blacks with said power, kek), Forest, I guess just Groot, there aren't many Supers with plant based powers, and so on and so forth.
All of the non-elemental Supers including villains, must fight them all in a globe spanning war to determine the strongest element. The winner can choose to banish one other elemental race from existence. So if the Water Elementals win, and ban hammer Fire? No more Human Torch, no Sunspot, etc.

First halfwould be finding who has their powers, and helping them/training them eachother to use them, we could get to see interactions and bonding betwen characters that never do.
The second hald would be the heroes fighting minor goon that got cosmic powers in the trade and became final boss or whatever solution Tony invetend for it and decide to be evil.

It could also work with the Inhumans. Some Old Attilan Inhumans are pissed at how Medusa is prioritizing the Nuhumans and cooperation with Earth, so they decide to break away and try to take over the Kree Empire again, like in the good old days before Black Bolt ruined it all for no reason.
The villains create a device to steal all the powers from the heroes. Before it can succeed, the heroes manage to sabotage it, so instead, everyone ends up switching powers and gear.

"Echo of Madness"
The new Quasar, Starbrand, Nightmask, Captain Universe are meeting with The Ultimates and discussing cosmic awareness, etc.
The inexperienced group are in meditation when they discover a ripple in the universe, an echo from the past trapped in the collective conscience of the universe. Foolishly they reach out to the echo and tear it from limbo, in a burst of energy Korvac has returned to the Marvel Universe. His first volley disintegrates the heroes that foolishly brought him to life, their collective power is absorbed by the mad God.
Korvac spreads his newfound cosmic awareness across the universe. The heroes that once opposed him, along with any other self-styled hero is brought before him. Korvac reveals that he was trapped in an infinite loop, experiencing his defeat over and over again for all eternity. It has driven him mad and fended any last vestige of humanity from his ego. He has devised a fitting revenge, the heroes will be sent hurtling through time reliving their failures and defeats for all time.
The Ultimates are the only ones left immune and they fight a losing war in the present along with a powerless Wendell Vaughn and various champions from other alien races against Korvac.
The Avengers, Xmen, spiderman, guardians, etc. are forced to relive their own tragedies but anytime Korvac falters in the present a crack develops in their time prisons.
Eventually the time lost heroes realize that even though they are powerless to fix their mistakes they can swap with their peers and defeat their metaphysical challenges.
In the present Galactus calls forth every herald he has ever had (resurrecting the dead ones) and distracts Korvac long enough for Wendall to recall the ill-gotten powers stolen from those in the beginning. Now with the combined powers of Starbrand, Quantum Bands, Nightmask and Captain Universe Korvac is obliterated.
The heroes return with a few unexpected results from a result of their time adventure.

Thank you, I was shooting for better than awful.
The story was just me spitballing things I like about Marvel. It's a love letter to the history of Marvel (particularly the 70's and 80's), an exploration of the cosmic landscape and a chance to play with little utilized characters.
I would love to find a way to incorporate elements from Marvel Horror/Magic but I don't want it any more unwieldy than it already is.
Currently cosmic marvel has a glut of overpowered nobodies, why not wipe a few away (like Starbrand) and reintroduce characters that never really got a fair shake like Wendell (and personal favorite Air-walker)?
Also, the ramifications of the shared experiances while traveling through time would be interesting to see and would set up the next few years of stories.
Would some characters bond over these experiances? Would others resent the fact that others succeeded where they failed? How would Jane deal with the fallout from failing in the face of overwhelming threats from Odinson's past?
Throw in a few villains like Doom and Magneto for more fun. How would they deal with these deeply personal reversals? How would Doom deal with the knowledge that Monica Rambeau (or some such) could rescue his beloved mother? How would Hobgoblin protect Jean Grey? What would it do to Spidey if he succeeded where Zemo failed and defeated Captain America?
Since it's a fantasy anyway I would bring in former writers and artists (Starlin, Stern, Romita Sr., Englehart, Simonson, Shooter, Byrne, Perez, Steranko, Claremont, Adams and the ole' man himself Stan Lee) to team up with the best and brightest current writers/artists for the main book and tie-ins.
