For me it's the breakdown. The others are usually normal with a couple odd things in the middle (story of micheal, clock telling them off, notepad destroying the painting) but with the Food one it just drops the Green bird lying on an operating table on you in the middle and goes right back to the food lecture. The "wait, what?" feeling of watching that the first time really sealed it for me.

DHMIS is about a single dad teaching his stupid/really young son (yellow dude) stuff about life, and the episodes are criticism about our current education system
1. We don't teach kids true creativity, since we keep applying arbitrary limits (green is not a creative color) and tasks, instead of letting them do what they want.
2. We can't make kids follow rigid schedules and at the same time tell them to not worry about death and decay.
3. Religion is bad, and we're not actually teaching kids about love if we just tell them the end goal is a religious construct (marriage) and there's only one right way (heterosexual marriage, etc etc). There are other forms of love and we should teach kids about them.
4. Don't restrict your kids' internet, just teach them the dangers and supervise. Also, teach them the difference between the Internet and the real world.
5. Don't ignore your kids' personal problems even if they're something stupid like losing a favorite toy. Also, the way we teach nutrition is outdated and wrong, but that's not the main point of the song. Mostly: do research before teaching something.

I'm bored with this high school level analysis. Surreal and disorienting art exists to be experienced, a shock to the senses that invokes the cruelty of the human condition. It is not an elaborate disguise for a parenting lecture, you don't come out of one of the shorts thinking "Wow what a well-argued point, I learnt something today".
Yes, an absurdist and gory parody of children's education shows carries with it a suspicious and critical view of the genre. But these are ideas and feelings that inspire the creation of the art, along with influence from all the other genres and techniques they blend into the series, not some "hidden code" that everything else just exists to communicate.
I want to read analysis of DHMIS that actually delves into what it represents as a product of today's culture, what its genre inheritances are, why it's so popular and what we actually get out of watching these spoopy funny musical shorts. Not "it's about how you shouldn't restrict your child's internet!".

No, DHMIS is a project involving puppetry, animation, digital animation, music and camerawork. It's an experiment with themes and expected tropes.
In true post-modern fashion it lacks a message, allowing people to project whatever they want onto it.
The educative programming coupled with the dark twists invites interpretations on corrupted childrearing but other than that people's interpretations vary.
Look at all the DHMIS explained videos on youtube, you'll see that most single out an ideological enemy that is trying to corrupt the youth (the government, corporations, etc). It really says something about the people watching it more than the vids themselves.

My personal worry is that if the UK leaves, it might weaken the EU in such a way that it might break the few good things that it has made.
