If your referring to taxes every first world country has some taxes for its citizens and taxes aren't exactly synonymous with healthcare

>>83886356
>not knowing the difference between socialism and social programs
Germany is probably the most anti-socialism country in the world, yet I keep seeing it cited as an example of why socialism is good in support of Sanders.
Canada isn't unique in these laws, apparently.

hes talking about there tv laws some absurd percentage of everything on canadian tv has to be made in canada
>>
>>83890049
not just TV, all canadian media has to have a fairly significant percentage of canadian programming. I'm in college for radio, and we have to learn about the broadcasting laws.

even my teachers think the laws are bullshit.
>>
>>83890140
revolution when
>>
>>83890670
never. the government is able to convince the masses that having all these jobs go to canadian studios is a good thing, even if competition also breeds quality.

have you ever seen CBC programming? It's fucking TERRIBLE. You think canadian animation is bad nowadays, try and watch canadian-exclusive programs that aren't corner gas.

>>
>>83890749
Wouldn't just having more people trying to produce Canadian content fix this? Competition breeds quality, and shit Canadian stuff gets through because it has to fill a mandatory niche, but what if there was so much Canadian stuff it actually had to compete to get those sweet gov bucks? Or does nobody creative want to work in Canada anymore because of our shitty dollar?

>I got a TV viewing habits survey last year. I did take it and made it clear I don't watch any canadian-original programs.

Do you think there's hope for Canadian-original programming or should they just sell their entire industry to America and get it over with?
>>
>>83892668
red green was a show made for canada by an american.

>>83892809
ive seen a few episodes here and there. it's not amazing, but it's not horrible.

>>83892850
the problem is that there's very little quality control. I've seen the canadian animation programs in college, even debated applying for one where several of the students went on to animate garbage like Grossology.

Now I'm going into Radio, hoping to make the jump into professional voice acting, and I gotta say, I've never met a single person in the industry, even in canada, that likes the CRTC laws. There's talent in the industry, definitely, and a lot of good people, but as long as people can get by doing the bare minimum, johnny test will be the standard.
>>
>>83893130
actually, never mind what I said about red green being made by an american. I'd heard that somewhere, and upon researching, neither steve smith(who played Red) or the co-writer Rick Green(who played Bill) are american.

The thing with corner gas is the entire episode is going to be a series of either running gags or references to whatever happened in the first couple of minutes.

If you missed the beginning of the episode, you're not going to get any of the jokes, and you're just going to be left sitting there going "why the fuck is any of this supposed to be funny?".

When the jokes actually land they're good, but the structure of the show hamstrings itself.
