Storytiming my all time favorite Spider-Man story. This is Spider-Man: Blue
>winamp starts playing It's The Same Old Song
It's like my computer knows.
The art in this is absolutely breathtaking.
My annual tradition is to read this on v-day
I hope that we get something this emotional and poignant in the MCU
Sale's Goblin is just as great as his Joker
>this bantz
Loeb writes such a great Spidey, shame that Campbell comic got scrapped.
Cocky as always Norman
First shot of the whole costume in color
Remember when Peter was actually funny?
Such a good Norman
That last panel almost looks Dr. Seuss like
>>83861175
When I look at the thumbnail, I see a dog
I love how the color series takes older issues and provides an on-going narrative through them
>>83861341
Gwenschach test
Oh Jonah
I miss the Bugle cast
If you only knew, Harry. If you only knew.
Love at first sight
>>83861254
You mean from Spidey?
I kind of want them to build him up. like a two movies worth of overall upswing. Then BAMN everything comes crashing down.
>>83861422
That would be fantastic. Bring in all the cast, Harry, MJ, Liz, Gwen, Flash, hell, even Kong. Peter has the Avengers as a goal, everything is going great, and then in number three Norman Osborn goes Gobby and it all turns to shit.
Love makes you do crazy things.
Flash is so full of it
Love this page
I REALLY want this scene to end the first film only for May to her Peter upstairs and find him in bed with the costume.
Be right back.
The post-death commentary really adds a lot of feels.
Again, this comic is perfect.
Uh-oh
>this dialogue
>Professor Warren
This captures that innocence of first love so well
>>83861502
I think they live in an apartment in this version.
Yikes
Jonah!
>>83861626
They do, I'm hoping they get the iconic Queens house.
>>83861575
Is that special fuck with the news vendor webbing?
He broke that kinda easy. It would be hilarious if he had to just let it hang there until it dissolved.
>>83861706
I think it was just really thin. Peter can adjust how the web comes out
>fat jokes
I wonder if we'll ever get that Kingpin moment from USM in the MCU
I will never not hate The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Rhino
>friendly cops
I'm trying to remember if the cops acted this way at this point in the Lee/Ditko run
OH NO DR. CONNORS
I hope they go into the science side in the MCU without making it a huge emphasis like TASM tried to
Let me know if my commentary gets annoying. I usually don't do commentary, but this is an all time favorite.
I can't handle the bantz, it's too much
>Rhino thinks he's being clever
>Spidey continues the rhyme
Here it comes
This is second to USM #13's usage of the famous phrase
They did this moment better than the original comic did.
>Do you like what you see
>See anything you like
The subtle difference is so much
I love MJ
>>83861864
He never took that suit off, what do you think he smelled like after?
Her just being so not into Flash without being a jerk is the icing on the cake
Ever the party girl
>>83861936
like a rhino
Gwen is so into him
OH DR. CONNORS!
MJ's got him wrapped around her finger though
As the new issue proved more than ever, Slott can't write MJ for shit
What a distraction
Whoever cut Connors' family from TASM was an idiot
>>83861967
she's not fixing her blush.
that's war paint son.
I love Sale's Lizard
>bantz
Darwinism Express
>>83861999
I gotta get a fucking bike.
Uh-oh
I miss MJ ;_;
>Spidey cheering himself on
MCU Spidey needs bantz like these
I love this feels like the Lee/Ditko stuff, but modern
>>83862076
Reading good Spider-Man comics these days always leads to more hurting than anything else. It just reminds me that everything we've got nowadays is complete ass.
>true believers
>>83862118
It really does hurt, god.
Guess Peter's choice is made
Man! Sale's fucking art!
Such an empty kitchen. This art man
>Awkward silences
>>83862141
Mate, I gotta go but I wanted to say thanks for storytiming this and I can't wait to get back to finish.
>Things went better than expected
>>83862178
Alright, thanks for reading!
I'd die after that food too
I actually really like this plot in the original comics
I need an MJ in my life
>everyone hates Harry
This place is surprisingly easy to break out of
Who is this mysterious man?
>Flash fanboying
I know Sale draws ugly people and that's what attracted Loeb to his work, but DAMN
Sharp wings
This reminds me, MCU costume is great
Classic Parker luck
>Gwen and MJ will never tease you
This would be a good plot for the first movie.
If I had a nickle for every guy who said that
Flash-hole

Speak for yourself Harry
Again, so empty, but it's not a poor elderly woman's kitchen which makes all the difference
I think Harry is drugging out at this point
Reveal yourself mystery man!
REVENGE!
>MJ will never bring you soup
>MJ will never feed you soup
>MJ and Gwen will never take care of you when you are sick
>you will never be cockblocked by Vultures
GET HIM MJ!
>dat Uncle Ben guilt
Beautiful page
God damn! This fucking art!
That had to have hurt
Here it comes
IT'S A CLASSIC!
And then Flash found focus in his life
I love Vulture
Yay Spidey!
Good for you Flash
Who could it be?
>>83862670
Your country will thank you, Flash Thompson. Not your legs, but your country will.
All these animals
I wish this series had been longer so we got these Ock and Scorpion fights
>>83862683
tis only a flesh wound!
>THE HUNT BEGINS
>Valentine's day
>wow
>Peter becomes the coat collector
>Norman loves Peter more
UH-OH
THE HUNTER ARRIVES!
Flash has such a quick turn around from being a massive tool to being great
LOVE IT
Bet Kraven feels salty
This fight is brutal
>>83862834
Man, Kraven is not the smartest guy on the block.
GO HARRY!
>>83862855
>SON, GET OUT OF THE WAY SO I CAN WATCH BETTER SON FIGHT KRAVEN
>>83862843
Toucan Sam was wrong
Not looking so good there Norman
>>83862866

Incoming feels
Such a great page
God I miss Mary Jane Watson-Parker
sure is dusty in here
The end.
And now the covers
These are gorgeous
The colors
The empty space
The composition
Sale is so good
Thanks for reading, I hope my commentary wasn't too annoying and that you enjoyed this as much as I do.
This is a MUST on everyone's bookshelf. Thanks OP
Had to stop reading after Pete was speeding off to find The Lizard with MJ. I've read A LOT of Spider-Man comics but this is up there with the best, there's nothing I don't like and it really highlights just how bad the current run of Spider-Man is. I stopped because I'm buying it right now.
Thanks OP.
>>83862174
oh man that sad milk 'stache is killing me
>>83862135
Fuck i miss tim sale man he was the fucking man
And this, grey, and yellow where fucking a plus comics
>>83862931
Can we just have this guy do more, his writing on spidey was amazing!
fucking 10/10
>>83861900
I forgot how much I love this story.
Thanks, Ulti-mate
absolutely flawless
>>83861235
I genuinely shed tears on my first read of this page.
>>83862528
But at least I'll never be sitting on the sidelines watching Peter getting taken care of by MJ and Gwen like Harry was.
>>83862827
MJ likely didn't
This honestly makes me cry
I think it's strange that I had my first true love in college and it was with someone opposite of me. I think it hurts more when you lost that person when you had good intentions but the situation made it an act of loss.
>>83861864
I miss when spidey used other web formulas
>>83863042
Thanks op , enjoyed every bit of it
>>83861175
>this is the same loeb who wrote ultimatum and limits the marvel animated series to just being toy commercials
Unbelievable
And then this happened
>>83861175
Why there is no wonder loli face edit?
>>83866342
>>83862902
Yeeeaaah boy
>>83861175
>>83863042
Ulti-Mate you're an absolute national treasure. This is hands fucking down my favorite Spider book. The art, colors, atmosphere, setting, character interaction, Peter's heartbreaking narration, MJ's words at the end.
It was nice to wake up to the sight of Blue getting storytimed. It really hurt to see such a beautiful story get curb stomped by Sins Past. And God knows what other new ways they'll find to shit on Gwen in Clone Conspiracy.
>>83866342
>>83862913
>>83862921
>>83862931
>MJ is so mature she just tells Pete to say hi too instead of getting jealous.
I love USM to death, but stuff like this is why you get sick of teenage Peter.
Also, fuck you Quesada, this is why their marriage was great. And why Slott is a dick who doesn't understand Spidey or how to write him.
>>83868515
>Slott
I'm pretty sure some things about his writing he has no control over, and I'd bet MJ is one of them. This has happened in the past so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.
>>83868654
Nah, Slott just really doesn't like Pete's normal side cast for some reason. Hell, some days I don't even know if he likes ol' Pete.
>>83862528
>that jealousy
How can one man be so lucky and so unlucky at the same time
Reminder that Gwen was badass
>don't talk shit about my husbando
All time favourite Spidey story.
Nice one Ulti-Mate, love you man
>>83861936
Quick question. How many Rhinos are there? Because I recall an excellent story where he was this former Russian mobster who regretted his life choices and it ended badly for everyone.
Well, I'm crying now. Thanks OP
>>83869975
Not sure about the exact number but there is a few. The one you're referring to is the original, Aleksei.
>>83861254
>Hello Gwen, my funny valentine.
>>83861991
Flash is just the best to read in this
you should do the other color series senpai
>>83861264
The guy's so fucking good at conveying insanity lol. Loeb said it best on Fatman, Sale draws ugly people incredibly well.
>>83861305
I wish he would have kept the underarm web with the Romita Sr suit though.
>>83869396
Kinda like to know, Peter and Gwen dated for how many issues?
>>83871508
I can't say for sure because their relationship was really weird. I can't remember when they actually started dating because they'd always make some progress, then have an argument, then make up again. Lee actually said this was one of the reasons they killed her off.
>>83872166
Well, they also said that in their head MJ was really always the interesting one and they had no idea where to go with Gwen.
Relevant
>>83861864
Was he even able to go to the bathroom before? Did they ever explain that?
>>83861422
>Then BAMN everything comes crashing down.
Does he not suffer enough in comics?
>>83866293
He's in charge of marvel tv/netflix and they are good.
>>83872634
>As much as they hurt, we learn from them
You would probably want to tell that to Slott and Quesada, since apparently in their opinion you should be an eternal 16 years old that doesn't learn anything except "From great power comes great responsibilities"As much as it sounds hypocritical after having shit-talked Slotteven with all the problems of that story, the Peter Parker of Renew your Vows is the one we need
Goddamn I love this book. Haven't read it in a while but it's sitting on my shelf. A must own for any Spider-Fan. I don't know what it is but Loeb and Sale were just really good at capturing the same feeling that those original issues of Spider-Man had. The Long Halloween gives me a similar feeling. Such a good fucking read, it really is too bad Loeb lost it. And it's even more of a shame because Spider-Man today just doesn't feel like this anymore. I didn't realize it until re-reading this but I forgot how much I love good Spider-Man. Slott just isn't doing it for me. When do you think we'll get good Spidey again guys?
>>83861175
Is this the one where his suit gets split in half and we get spiderman red and spiderman blue?
>>83869396
holy shit the art. I forgot how good comics could look. Fuck this overly stylized bullshit that is today
>>83873409
wow nevermind, thanks Ultii-Mate that was a great story
>>83861925
Man its nice to see a spiderfag that loves MJ and Gwen without choosing sides. Just wanted to point that out. They both were and still are great gals for Pete.
>>83862113
The artist really captured the era perfectly. I want modern comics to be like this instead of weird ass contortions we get from some of the current artists.
>>83862118
Reccomend some good Spidey? I know Spidey Blue is one, JMS run is good in a few parts if you ignore Sins Past and whatever the hell the Other storyline was. Classic Lee/Ditko and Romita Sr along with Bendis Ultimate are amazing as well. Anything else am I missing?
>>83864364
Clearly, you haven't read anything Loeb is written in the last decade. The guy is responsible for many of the worst comics released this decade, including but not limited to Ultimatum.
>>83869975
>>83870087
There are exactly 1.
There was a second Rhino (some guy with a cyborg suit and a scythe) that showed up during The Gauntlet, but he was killed by Aleksei after the cyber-Rhino killed Oksana.
>>83861328
>You're like my son!
>I don't even know your son
>KEEP HIM OUT OF THIS
Norman goddamnit take a position.
>>83875046
> implying Ultimate X is bad
> implying New Ultimates is bad
> implying Nova is bad
>>83875577
Nice double dubs
Normally I'd chalk something like this up to bad dialogue, but it weirdly fits to make norman really feel as crazy as he's suppose to be.
>>83861396
Was the Tony Stark trial just a throwaway line or did I miss an Iron Man or She-Hulk story in my 616 reading?
>>83875577
>implying New Ultimates is bad
>implying Nova is bad
You're retarded if you think they weren't bad.
>>83875837
Not that anon, but how was Nova bad? "Muh dead son" is not an answer
>>83861669
>she died
Good ol' Jonah
>>83861782
I thoguht there were always some exceptions.
Like in the new runs even if the cops are offically against the spider there's always some old cop who knows Spiderman ain't that bad and gives him a hand.
God damn.That was beautiful.
Thanks OP, you're great.

>>83862902
I'm gonna assume that Pete banged her atleast once.
>>83878779you're wrong
>>83875267
>that build up as this new OC Rhino is going to kill the old Rhino.
>Old Rhino doesn't want to fight. Likely will get killed for this.
>New Rhino kills Oksana
>Old Rhino becomes pic related
>New Rhino gets first rekt beyond repair and then tear in half
I've never seen a charcter buried his grave faster that Cyber Rhino.
>>83878966
Why of all the things that get rectonnected this isn't one of them?
>>83879142
If anything, this upcoming Clone Conspiracy can retcon this somehow, which would likely be the only good thing to come out of the arc.
>>83861900
op thanks for the storytime, but your commentary is distracting as hell
>>83861175
Thanks for the storytime anon
