Khalid still has a couple of issues left in his own series, and then I don't know what they have planned for him afterwards. Maybe tie it into the JSA coming back in general?
He's also quite a bit older than Jaime (Khalid's starting med school, Jaime is still in high school as far as I remember). Other than the connection of "dealing with an unknown artifact with ridiculous power levels that might be manipulating them", they don't have a lot in common.

This was back when Didio was lobbying to keep smaller books afloat still too, so a callback to Jaime's old series would've gotten at least one or two solid arcs in before he got shipped off to an ensemble book.

I don't know how literal the cover is meant to be. There's a scarab on his front too, so it might be an older Fate from a flashback of some sort.

Considering that we have Rip, Booster/Waverider and Michelle still around from before the New 52 revisions, it would be silly to not involve them somehow in what's going on with Rebirth now. Maybe they have some insight into what the fuck is going on.
It's the rebirth book I'm most looking forward to. The scarab being magic is worrying me though.

When it says that Kent has given them "dire warnings" and asks whether he's trying to save Jaime or kill him, I think it's pretty damn obvious that he's the Dr. Fate who showed up in Rebirth to give them dire warnings.
Also, you are reading way too much into Fate's costume when Kolins didn't draw the BB section in Rebirth, nor Khalid's book. He can give Fate whatever redesign he wants.
