Can we just take a moment and appreciate that, for whatever anyone thinks about the quality of DC Rebirth, DC has had ZERO PR DISASTERS so far.

I don't know if anyone remembers 2011 and the lead-up/first months of New 52, but it was a fucking shit show.

This alone makes me more hopeful that we're in for a better era of comics.
>>
>>83850993
Please provide some examples.
>>
>had ZERO PR DISASTERS so far.

way to jinx it, what are they gonna try to rush out late friday to avoid the news cycle now
>>
>>83851057
Wonder Woman pants.

Superman/Lois breakup articles.

Whatever the fuck Teen Titans was supposed to be.

Supergirl's diaper.

The first few months of Red Hood.
>>
>>83850993
2011 through 2013 was basically a daily PR disaster for DC. Everyone shits on The Outhousers for being anti-DC clickbait, but there was a very good reason that they made that "__ days since DC fucked up" thing, and its because during that period, it felt like every week there was a new case of a writer walking out and screaming about editorial incompetence or issue with someone saying something at a con or what have you.

DC kinda got their shit together since then though.
>>
>>83851057
People were upset over the Superman trunks.

People thought Batman would be starting all over with Dick as a teen Robin.

Wonder Woman: Pants? No pants?

52 titles are way too many. (This is I agree with, DC Explosion all over again.)

It's too edgy.

Rooftop sex!

Too edgy!

Lost character histories!

Edgy!

Just to name a few. I agree with some. DC didn't find their footing again until Forever Evil brought back the campier elements of the DC universe and DC You, while a failure, brought some really solid titles.
>>
>>83851145
Plus all the creators who thought they were the creative teams but were actually just pitching actively aired their shit in public.

No one is doing that now.
>>
>>83851145
That's only sjws and casuals crying

You for real?
>>
>>83851173

Oh god, I forgot about that Catwoman title.

Plus cancelling Batman, Inc.

Plus Amazon rapists/murderers (which immediately followed that whole Wonder Woman has a father stuff).
>>
>>83851212
Yeah, sjw's were complaining about Superman getting "cucked."
>>
>>83851248
I don't mind the Zeus retcon, but the rapist amazons felt like it was trying to go Game of Thrones without any real substance. Liked the run, but what the hell?
>>
>>83851301
I don't mind the father stuff either, but it definitely caused a bunch of negative press.

There was some good stuff in the New 52, but all the bad PR was like a wet blanket.
>>
Anyone remember when DC had a contest to draw Harley Quinn committing suicide, but they accidentally held the contest during Suicide Prevention Week? Good times.
>>
>>83850993
>the lead-up
If we're counting the lead-up then the Shelly Bond and Eddie Berganza PR disaster took place during the lead-up to Rebirth.

You have been proven wrong.

Apologize.

What? I seemed to have missed that particular fuck up.
>>
And yet the initial 52 output had three black male leads, a good number of female leads, a latino led comic, 2 if not 3 lgbt led comics, and diversity in genre. All of that was squandered by the likes of Janelle Asselin and DC Women Kicking Ass and Comic Alliance and Chris Sims and others with a grudge because they couldn't or no longer could get work from DC.
>>
>>83851395
Also the Harley Game boy story came out in 9/11

>>

The SJWs were happy about Wondy pants and no one but us nerds were bitching about Supergirl's ugly costume design. I don't even think the SJWs were aware of Slut-fire.
>>

>Zero PR disasters

That's not saying much on DC's behalf considering how the internet is liable to jump down their throats and overreact about goddamn anything. Tumblr could wake up on the wrong side of the bed and decide that DC's dogwhistling for MRA guys based on nothing.
>>
>>83851469
It happened. Jim Lee had to come to P&C rescue. Palmiotti wrote a long as fuck apology on FB and the Harley #0 Director's Cut issue had ANOTHER apology. Man what a shitfest that was

So what does Berganza edit in Rebirth?
>>

Aside from the cartoon, Starfire was always sexualized, and a reboot is as good a time as any to change a character's personality. I'll agree that they should have made her more like Toonfire, which they eventually did with her solo.

They still employ Eddie Berganza so they're just one consistent fuck up until they oust him
>>
>>83852634
Just the first few issues which is when people complained.
Then Lobdell "explained" why she was like that, changed her sleeping with Jason to Jason just lying about that, and started to tease a relationship with Roy.
>>
>>83852589
Ron Marz's villain protagonist Voodoo was all right, then they ruined it.
>>
Adding one more Eddie Berganza comment.

He is literally the only bad thing at DC right now and I'm still pissed that he's employed.
>>
>>83852753
I'd say Harras too but then I remembered that Johns is basically doing his job.
>>
>>83852753
Weren't there cases where creators went out of their way to not have their books edited by him? Like, wasn't there something with Rucka? I'd say that's a huge fucking problem if your writers pointedly avoid on of your editors, but I'm not sure about the facts.
But even if that's untrue, his office did fuck up the Superman line and the Teen Titans.

>>83852840
Humphries has an exclusive for some reason. That wasn't a Berganza decision, that's above his paygrade.
>>
>>83852853
Let's not forget the fact that she literally had goldfish memory where she only had short term memory. Another thing that was quickly retconned away, but drew a whole lotta hate at the time.
>>
>>83852858
And people didn't like that she had to "get better" when she could've been just fine in the first place.

And they were right to get mad since Lobdell is too shit a writer to do it convincingly and well enough.
>>
>>83851595
You're forgetting how this was supposed to be looney toons level of cartoony violence.
>>
>>83852903
Goldfish memory is what fans called it. Her deal was that her people remembered senses, but not names. She didn't forget any of the experiences.
>>
>>83852893
Is it? Berganza could easily have been the one who wanted to bring Humphries on board and requested Didio offer the exclusivity contract. I imagine Humphries actively seeks exclusivity contracts considering he got one at Marvel after only like one comic which is kind of abnormal.

>>
>>83853046
Evidently people did otherwise there wouldn't have been nearly as much outrage and the need for the writers to do an interview to clarify. People are generally pretty stupid and need things explicitly spelled out for them.

Superman was decent, but far too decompressed. Not worth getting in single issues.
