Wild Child. I had the misfortune of discovering comics in the early 90's right when he first joined X-Factor and absolutely fell for him. What followed was the book dissolving into utter nonsense, and the character getting constantly shit on by life and finding out what a gruesome backstory he had. I picked up a bunch of Alpha Fight stuff to get more of his background and I'm a sucker for tragic characters with redemption arcs. But it killed me that his redemption turned into this epic failure with him becoming this pathetic dehumanized villain in Weapon X.
The only time things got better for him was when he became a henchman for Romulus, but the book was awful and I think it really made too many people hate the character or they just assume he was a Loeb creation.

Sam would fly up to the moon and lay out his grievances to him and even knowing that Uatu couldn't respond because of his pact of non-interference (which he would later break to cheer Sam up) appreciated basically having a shoulder to cry on and that helped him get through the hard times, and Uatu appreciated having a visitor. Yeah, the adults are the worst thing about the book. It's good when it focuses on Miles/Sam/Kamala but shit when it focuses on the rest. Even the Nadia bits are good. Waid has a good grasp on teen characters but his adults range from boring to assholes.
