Then during the 90s and early 00s, it became a fucking gorefest with laser blasters, big-titted babeliens, and so on. So there was a movement among the sci-fi community in Russia to go back to the sci-fi similar to what we had in the USSR. Despite being an American citizen and living here for almost 20 years, I've contributed - mine was a piece about two bases (civilian and military) who get cut off from Earth and supply lines, and how they're forced to depend on one another and develop in isolation and what it would look like 100 years from Loss of Contact.
