His cartoons never worked. Was he supposed to be the protagonist? Were audiences supposed to be rooting for him to hunt down and molest the girl trying to get away from him?
The cartoons present the girl doing things like cowering in a corner, trembling and whimpering in fear as he tries to catch her. He's not the protagonist, yet he almost always gets her at the end and it's presented as a happy ending to the audience.
I remember one ended with him kidnapping the cat from her family and chaining her up in his bedroom.
The cartoons were always bad and tone deaf. The only ones that worked were the ones that ended with the girl turning the tables on him (like the one that won an Oscar) because it was a case of the villain getting his just desserts. Those were the only "good" ones.
