Love this stuff. Planning on getting the Secret Warriors and Secret Wars trades. But did Hickman give up on Manhattan Projects? Sun Beyond the Stars was pretty lame, what with following the least interesting of the cast.
>>
>>
Fuck this run is so good. Vintage Hickman. Shame it ended the way it did.
>>
>>
>>83830018
>Manhattan Projects
That any good? I really should look at his indie stuff at some point.
>>
>>83830018
Apparently he had some sort of falling out with his artist so it might be a while until we get more MP.
>>
>>83829833
Rhodey got a suit. It's not as good as Tony's but still
>>
>>83830046
I don't care what anyone says, Humphries is the worst thing that ever happened to Ultimate. Even Loeb had some good stuff, but Humphries was just out right garbage.
>>
>>83830103
I thought he made that himself. The Card minis aren't canon.
>>
>>
>>83830069
Manhattan Projects is great but after a while it loses momentum very quickly. I think Hickman had more grand plans for it but Pitarra got pissed at him or something.

For the record I liked Sun Beyond the Stars but it doesn't serve well as an ending to the story.
>>
>>
>>83830162
I only understood half of what you were talking about there. Doesn't he have more?
>>
Something with gods I think. Avatar publishes it.
>>
>>83830069
>That any good?
Certain parts of it are brilliant, especially the Oppenheimer stuff.
>>
>>
>>83830211
Sound like you have a big "but" there, anon.
>>
I miss her /co.
>>
>>83830069
I really like it, all the geniuses are their own flavor of crazy and the atomic bomb is the least of their achievements. Like, Daghlian, the guy who dropped the plutonium "Demon Core" got turned into atomic skull, Oppenheimer is a cannibal with split personalities, Werner von Braun is a cyborg, etc. It sounds edgy but it's actually pretty humorous and a bit lighthearted. The entire series is just plain madness though.

But yeah like anons said it sort of lost focus in the end, and he did a spinoff with Yuri Gagarin looking for Laika.
>>
>>
>>83830189
He also does East of West which is also pretty good but decompressed as fuck. Luckily he's pretty far into it and the story is picking up in speed.

I think he has a new ongoing coming up with Image soon.
>>
>>
>>83829992
He needs that too, and to smash things
>>
>>83830239
Fuck I remember this reveal being so mind--blowing at the time.
>>
>>83830284
I've been told to check that one out. How many issues are there?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>83830318
I think he's up to 24.
>>
RIP ;_:
>>
>>83830027
Backhand throw with his left hand and catches it with his right hand, nice

Hmm. Might have to storytime that.
>>
>>83830372
One of the few things from Ultimate I'll miss
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>83830140
Rhodey built his own suit in the Ultimate universe?! I always thought Tony gave it to him
>>
>>83830284
>I think he has a new ongoing coming up with Image soon.
It's called The Black Monday Murders. Described as "crypto-noir."

Tough to tell sometimes with Hickman whether or not it'll last though. He has a habit of starting books, going like 3 issues, then forgetting they exist. I still have my issues of the Dead and the Dying and he hasn't done shit with that in at least a year.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>83830154
You tell him Big Daddy Odin!
>>
>>
>>
>>83830488
>>83830498
Interesting how Falcon was actually useful in Ultimates, but in the Avengers Hickman barely acknowledged his existence, making me wonder why he even added him to the roster.
>>
>>
>>83830543
diversity
>>
>>83829845
Why does it feel like these covers have no rhyme or reason? It just feels like Marvel just had a huge cabinet of cover art pre-made and they just randomly decide what becomes the cover for each issue.
>>
>>83830239
*dun dun duuuun*
>>
This will forever be my favorite part of this run and I'll be very disappointed if it;'s not in the MCU.
>>
I recently finished reading the entirety of the Ultimate Universe. Evil Reed Richards fascinates me, and he was easily one of the most awesome villains in comics right up until the cop out ending. Words can't describe how angry that ending made me.
>>
>>83830575
The roster was already pretty diverse, I recall a lot of complaining from /co/ at the time.
>>
>>83830582
You should see the ones for Ultimate X-Men. I love the costume Jimmy has, but it doesn't show up until LONG after Spencer is gone and it's never actually used in the comics.

>>83830596
Yeah, Cataclysm was bullshit. Fialkov managed to salvage him a bit before Ultimate FF was cancelled, but Bendis really fucked the pooch good on that one.
>>
>>
>>83830647
>>83830596
Ewing is bringing the Maker back in full force over in New Avengers, with his trusty Computer along for the ride.
>>
>>
Weird just how casually they destroy Western Europe and nobody really cares much.
>>
>>83830675
I really should read Ewing's books. Post-Secret Wars Marvel scares me though. I read Vision and read Cho Hulk.
>>
>>83830675
Oh yeah thanks for reminding me. All I've read the past few months was the Ultimate Universe and now I've got some catching up to do. Is Maker just as wonderfully awesome in Ewing's New Avengers as he was in Ultimate?
>>
>>83830701
There really wasn't much left after Ultimatum.
>>
>>
>>
>>83830726
He's okay. Kind of a mustache-twirler because Ewing's New Avengers is deliberately pretty cheesy. Definitely not the scary-ass threat he was in this run.
>>
>>
>>
>>83830712
It's not that scary, just avoid most X-Books and Bendis.

>>83830726
Yes, in fact I'd say he's even more wonderfully awesome. I'd post images but, you know, storytime
>>
>>
>>83830732
I've always wondered how the Ultimate Universe would have went had Ultimatum not been so shitty. Perhaps if it hadn't happened at all and so many "important" characters not died, would the Ultimate Universe have survived a bit longer? Would it have survived even if Ultimatum happened, but was written better?
>>
>>83830816
There will be room after.
>>
>>83830795
They really don't seem as concerned as they should be over Europe getting blown up.
>>
>>
>>83830789
I'm okay with that as long as he fits into the overall theme of the story.

>>83830816
I'll have to check it out. And yes, we must keep with proper storytime etiquette.
>>
>>83830826
Probably not. So many deaths.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>83830372
Is that Ultimate Razorback?
>>
>>
>>83830919
So the pinacle of civilization and evolution is a dictatorship lead by a 1000 year-old mad immortal? You'd think they'd have a better form of government.
>>

>>83830934
In the pic fighting Miles? Ultimate Kangaroo
>>
>>83830957
Keep reading.
>>
>>83830962
I still can't believe someone thought it was a good idea to bring fucking Xorn and his brother into the Ultimate Universe
>>
>>
>>
>>83830999
They made it fucking work though. Even if it was a lame Ultimatization of Celestials and Eternals
>>
>>83830999
I can't believe just how useless they ended up being. If I remember correctly, Zorn just up and disappeared off the face of the Earth after his brother died. It was never explicitly stated that their lives were linked together.
>>
>>
>>83831048
They played a bigger role in Nick Spencer's Ultimate X-Men
>>
>>83830989
Dat ass.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>83831037
I wish Hickman had written the Eternals at some point, they seem to be the kind of thing he would be good at.
His portrayal of the Celestials in FF was pretty lackluster though, and he made the Builders be bargain bin Celstials, and then had the actual Celstials die off-panel.
>>
>>
>>
>>83831156
Isn't Eternals the book he's rumored to be returning with?

Say what you want about Hickman and the artists he's paired with. But damn they do choreography some fucking awesome stuff.
