What does /co/ think of the Dick Tracy movie?

I've been on a little DT kick after rediscovering a stage show I saw at Disney when I was like 5.

The movie gets a lot of flack for being similar to Batman, which came out the previous year. And it does have a lot of similarities. But I think it's pretty good on its own.

Robin wasn't bad at all for a kid being one of the main characters of a movie.

I don't think we'll see Selina's tits in a mainstream movie anytime soon, either.

And Stan Lee shows up for his short scene in the movie.

Surprisingly good movie.

Dat Madonna.

Also, fun fact, Warren Beatty bought the rights to Tracy to make the movie and still owns them

I'm a big fan, one of the more interesting comic book movies in the way they really captured the four-colour look, set/production design is superb.
>>
It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I remember liking it. It indirectly resulted in me wearing a trench coat to school almost every day for a few months in 7thish grade.

Yeah because of the legal battle over that, a planned Bendis/Oeming Dick Tracy comic got canceled.

I couldn't tell if we would've gotten good Bendis or bad Bendis.

Love it, it's one of my favorite movies.
>>
I love it. One of my top three when I was between the ages of 3 to 5. I have very fond memories of enjoying this movie.

Also, top form Madonna.
>>
I loved Al Pacino devouring the scenery and spitting it out as Big Boy.
>>
I don't know how many other movies get away with putting Dustin Hoffman in a bit part.

If you consider his showings in Kung-Fu Panda 3 that, I take back what I said.

That out of the way, I loved this movie. It was just flat out entertaining. Not sure why it was so critically panned, who went into the theater and expected Dick Tracy to not be Dick Tracy?

Because it was pretty Dick Tracy.

The use of color was a very respectful move in regards to the source material, it was very true to the source in its feel.

Comic book movies were seen as the newest fad back then, and critics who were in their middle-age by the early 90s would have a dim view of comics from what they remember of their childhoods. Keep in mind that Ebert disliked Batman '89 when it first came out.

are you sure thats stan lee?

I remember seeing it as a kid.

Seeing it again recently, it's like I've seen a brand new movie.

It was strange for sure.

I like the way that Big Boy spouts a lot of pretentious quotes like he reads a lot but still doesn't seem very bright
>>
>>83825141

Reminds me a lot of The Penguin, a brutal thug with delusions of sophistication whose classy facade keeps cracking and the monster underneath leaks out.
>>
>>83817698

It actually hangs together as a much more coherent movie than Batman 89.

One of the greatest comic book movies, and a damn fine pulp/noir film in its own right.

It's rubbish.

He brought in the bulk of Tracy's rogues & jobbed them ALL cheaply.

Beatty also made Kyle Baker redraw all of Baker's Dick Tracy prequel stories to look more like Beatty and not the classic strip version.

I'd storytime if I had them, they were decent.
