I agree that "scientist" is pulled out of thin air, but the official Frozen storybooks goes into more detail than the movie about what a brainiac Elsa was. The line about being the "perfect girl" made more sense with some cut scenes, with Elsa being so bottled up she concentrated on her studies, she was the ideal student.
