I think the main reason OP is some people just cant fathom that other people have different sexual preferences than a typical chad has. blonde valley girl bimbos for example.
Another reason could be that shad's art is quite "visceral". as in you can almost feel the sweat and dirt covering his typical tattoed hoe. Some people may be used to only having clean looking hentai where the sweat looks like beads all over the skin like after a shower instead of a realistic sweaty gloss.
He gets human proportions right, which is important for good porn, but he always gives them weird angles that try to show off every curve. It looks good on pinup but it looks uncomfortable most of the time.
the content is also debatably bland. He used to make EVERY character look like dirty streetwalkers. maskara heavy,smoking cigs, tattoos, long nails, ripped skimpy clothes. There are very inherent flaws in his work but he has improved considerably from where he was a few years ago.
Shad himself seems like he puts a lot more effort to be edgy than he probably should, but it's what makes him money at this point. Can't fault him for that. And it's probably something he enjoys doing.
It's not my flavor of art, but at the very least I appreciate that he attempts to cater to different tastes by not making art with just a specific fetish. He at least understands that people can appreciate wet t-shirt girls washing a car with boobs pressed in the window but may not appreciate the dick.
He's just very polarizing. Even when he first went on Sleepycast people had no idea how to react to him.
the problem with shad as an artist is he does it to cater to his own fetishes and not other people. We're not talking mistakes like drawing a muscle an inch to the right of where it should be, we're talking mistakes like attaching a torso directly to hips with no waist or spine in between (which I've seen him do, as one memorable example).
