The relevance of the character helps a lot. I don't mind pulling a Heimdall or two if it breathes new life into a character that desperately needed it. Allura was really forgettable in the original cartoon. Her main defining trait was having a vagina. I'm not complaining about them swapping her race because they also made her a halfway interesting character as well. I just get pissed when it's a character that didn't need a reimagining gets raceswapped purely so that someone can fill their brownie points quotas.
