The only person in the episode who seemed OOC to me was Harvey and that's because he was having a panic attack, also his OOCness was the cause of the whole damn plot.
And I think they did the reveal this way because they just wanted to get the hatching over with so they could actually begin to utilize and develop her character instead of dragging out the reveal, sure it was maybe a little rushed but they only had 11 minutes. And there were certainly emotional moments in there. I personally wouldn't have made the episode so wacky in general but I'm sure the boarders/writers of this episode were simply making what they wanted to.
I dunno, all I know is that we definitely have to see more before we can definitively say there's been a shift.

Everything they've built up about her (her demonic stare after the "Angesl" comment, the ripping apart of the pancake, her eyebrows, even all the misery she caused to Jermey as an egg) seems to be towards her being a demonic, destructive sociopath that will be the opposite of Harvey's angelic nice guy personality.
I think what the anon meant by Michelle not being an annoying child character is that unlike other ones who are only selfish due to them being too young to understand the wrongness of their actions, Michelle seems to already know what she is doing is wrong and she loves doing the wrong things. It'll probably become much more obvious once she starts to be able to walk and talk (if they get to that).
It's always nice to see Harvey doing something constructive, and the grandparents were great too.
