Tonight's storytime will be on the shorter side of things since I have to go to bed early.
So who /totallyblueballedbyInjustice2/ here?
So, anybody here?
>>83733910
OUI
Sorry, my rommate wanted something. ANYWAY.
>>83733983
Très bien!
So, that E3 huh? Not gonna lie, pretty disappointing so far.
Granted I've never much cared for Bethesda, so...
>>83733910
I cant believe I guessed it was Romita JR from the lines in the face, I never read this before
>>83734525
Yeah, good ol' JRJR is slowly but surely evolving into his more well known style.
>>83733910
I hope they do another omni for all this early jrjr stuff.
Ah, now this is one classic issue.
>>83733400
Fair enough, sleep's a useful thing to have.
>>83734714
Does vol 3 have the Storm vs Morlocks stuff? would love that thru the Massacre in collections
>>83734715
Get hype!!
dumb young Pitor thinking with his dickkitty was too young for you so probably for the best
>>83733468
>Xavier orders Rogue to go check on Kitty and the New Mutants
>>83733495
>She asks Storm first
Damn right.
You know you're playing a true Japanese game when you can pair up a kid with a young adult.
>>83734995
I am totally fine with Mystique as a terrorist, as a mutant IRA, but the Evil in Brotherhood of Evil mutants is stupid, Hitler didnt think he was evil, almost all bad people dont.
>>83735102
We just roll with it as a relic from Magneto's crazy days
>>83734367
I'm watching it now. Having the guys from Giant Bomb commentating over it really makes the eSports and Fifa stuff in EA's conference bearable
> every time they cut to the audience and it's just people looking at their phones
kek
>>83735249
this is much better than jrjr superman or his avengers vs xmen, the last stuff I remember from him
>>83733811
>The X-Men have fans and good press in Japan
And yet, they're trying to leave.
>>83735249
>>83735289
Good ol' Juggsy
>>83735348
Not sure what was going on with Superman, especially since those Dark Knight preview pages look so good. AvX was probably a rushed job since it was a big event
>>83735348
I think his DKIII stuff looks pretty good. That Klaus Janson is a miracle worker, lemme tell ya.
>>83735312
Selene, Sinister and Cameron Hodge are like the only non reformed X-Men villains.
>>83733868
>A Politician that' not rabidly anti mutant
He's gon' die.
>>83735410
Klaus has been inking him most of his time at DC
>>83735329
Ah, I myself don't really care about eSports so I ain't watching that shit.
>>83735102
There's actually a bunch of theories about how that makes sense in-universe, ranging from "ironic snark intended to mock human morality" to "polarizing and manipulative use of labels", I personally am hoping it's because of some Professor X mindcontrolling jackass joke of his.
But IRL Stan Lee has admitted that it's just another example of lazy writing being more awesomely popular than deserved.
>>83735435
Wait, seriously? Huh, guess JRJR actually put some effort into this one, huh. Well, that, or it was Dean White all along.
>>83735478
It's terrible, but in a kind of funny way. They're really trying to add in human drama.
> these two are the top plays
. ...AND they're close friends, but only one can win the belt!
>>83735349
IS that fucking Selene??? I never saw her fight.
>>83735349
This issue is one of the first random ones I ever pulled out of the 50cent bin. I don't imagine I still have it.
>>83735515
Sounds like a riot. Wish I had time to sit down and watch dumb shit like that, but alas, all my free time goes to these storytimes.
>>83735511
I guess the difference is Last Crusade is a one shot and not a monthly title. So they didn't have to worry as much about a strict deadline, more of "when it's done it's done"
>>83735559
I love the ghosts thing, they should do that again. It's just so horrific. They kinda just turned/retconned her into a normal telekinetic. (Boo!)
>>83735592
Yeah, that makes sense.
>>83735430
How is there not a revolving door of stock bigot politicians? There are IRL, and we don't even have mutants IRL ... so far as we know...
>>83734968
Kitty had a pancake butt.
>>83735641
All i knew is that she could drain the life essence of others. This is really cool!
>>83735737
I don't think the X-Men have done much with politicians since Kelly got killed off in the 90's.
Rachel makes me sad, because she was created as a Jean replacement, and became obsolete when Jean was resurrected.
Betsy could survive by becoming an asian ninja, but Rachel never had a chance. They should have given her a good death years ago.
Or she should have become the Phoenix host instead of Hope, who should also have never been created.
>>83735819
Is she even in anything these days?
>>83735819
Excalibur was a good place for her, but besides Claremont only Ed Brubaker seemed to have any interest in her
>>83735855
She was in the all female X-Men title where she got romantically involved with JOHN FUCKING SUBLIME
>>83735750
She's the full monty of F'ed up mutation at it's worst. You're in for a treat here.
>>83735788
Killing him off was bad enough, it's that he got deathbed reformed that really pisses me off.
>>83735855
no
she is in limbo with Scott, Emma and the Cuckoos
The only mutant telepaths right now are young Jean from the past, and Martha/no girl, Ernsts friend. Well, Red Skull has the powers of Xavier currently.
In the Civil War 2 from last week or 2 weeks ago, when Tony Stark needed a telepath he called young Jean, she is the only telepath who isnt mia.
>>83735900
>he got deathbed reformed
Wait wasn't he killedby his former supporters because he became pro-mutant ?
Y'know Rachel could have a place as an Avenger or a Cosmic defender.
>>83735945
I mean Catholic limbo, not Magik Limbo.
>>83735863
WHY is she not a bigger X-Men character???
She's Omega Summers/Grey lineage with weird dripping off of her every time she opens her mouth to speak, she's everything that makes mutants insane and interesting without having to write anything original!?
It's a no-brainer. Does someone have exclusive rights to writing the character or something?
>>83735976
>a Cosmic defender.
Honestly she, Polaris, and Havok should've just stayed with he Starjammers. Since Rachel is just part of the Phoenix Force made flesh space is the right place for her
>>83735889
Oh yeah, I do remember that, meant more recently.
>>83735945
Damn, really sucks how many X-Men are MIA right now.
>>83736036
>Summers/Grey lineage
Apparently not. As far as Claremont is concerned Rachel is actually an immaculate conception between Jean and The Phoenix
That's all for today, more UXM tomorrow!
Selene is kind of like Dr Doom, he is half technology genius, half magic user, she is half mutie telepath, half magic user.
>>83735956
He died as ...um... Post or ... maybe Pyro(?) died to prevent the assassination "and in his last moments saw the error of his ways"... (puke!)
It was a suck story all around from the bad part of the '90s.
Then again it was wicked longtime sinse I read it...
>>83736181
*since*
>>83736097
Retcon headcanon -on the fly- alert: Cyke was Phoenix too...
>>83734767
Yeah, it has up through uxm 175.
>>83733842
Doesn't Lockheed turn out to be a girl in recent times?
>>83736313
damn. well if i can get the Essentials I want, all i need is to find the omnibus and something collecting issues 144-153
gulp, epic collection plz marvel?
>>83736379
The first omni is in print, goes from Giant Size to UXM 131. It can be had for about 55$ At in stock trades.
The third omni is also in print; it covers UXM155-175, God Loves Man Kills, Wolverine 1-4; Magick 1-4 and a couple of annuals
The second omni is getting a new printing in the fall, and will cover the stuff In between.
>>83736949
>first omni
Pic related
>>83736181
Post tried to assassinate Kelly and Pyro, dying of the Legacy Virus, saved him in his final act which caused Kelly to repent. Not long afterwards is when he got killed by an anti-mutant protester for betraying them.
>>83737091
Pyro was a great simple concept character.
They should find another firestarter to take up his name.
Why are there so few pyrokinetic mutants?
>>83735030
Was this before the drinking age was 21?
>>83736949
I want the Byrne run in B&W so i'm hunting for Essentials.
>>83733518
Panel 1 has got my sides in orbit.
>>83737547
Japan's Monster Island is a real thing in the Marvel Universe.
For some reason X-Men comics keep using it in stories, even in casual dialog, more than ay other book I know of.
>>83733330
HE LIVES
PRAISE BE TO X-ANON
>>83733734
Panel 1 doesn't look like Sunfire absorbed the brunt of the fall. It looks like he let go of Storm and she landed on her head.
>>83733925
>>83733952
>Boy, these powers that I ripped out of Carol Danvers along with a chunk of her mind sure are great!
>>83737539
Barely it seems. New York went to 21 in late 1985 because of the National Minimum Drinking Age Act withholding highway funding. Until then it was 19. 21 as drinking age is fucking dumb
>>83738079
But Anon, America's children can't be trusted!
And what we call an untrustworthy "child" in society must change to reflect how little we trust the young!
After all, how else is it going to be ingrained into the masses that they must obey the wisdom of the unyeilding past!
>>83734920
That is an awful lot of passing the buck from Storm considering how pissed she gets whenever Scott or Xavier give an order in the field.
>>83738271
How is it passing the buck? She's team leader in the field, not the resident ideal psychologist. And it's not as if delegation isn't an option for people in charge.
Also: shouldn't it be more troubling that she would opt for a dead Pete rather than upsetting her lez pedo target a little?
>>83735559
She was in the last New Mutants thread we had, which can be found in the OP.
>>83735478
>>83735410
This version of Mystique is QT as hell.
>>83735889
>romantically involved with JOHN FUCKING SUBLIME
So much of that book was terrible and objectionable.
>>83733454
We have a book on monsters and it lists tha X Men.
That made me smile.
>>83734482
I'm trying to figure out why Rogue would know an Air Force guy, and I'm starting to think she is running off Carol's memories. Well done.
>>83739281
Yeah, it took me a while to figure it out, but it was really well done.
>>83739314
It was a real strong piece of story telling. It leads you through "Why does Rogue know how to disable a Helicarrier?" to "Why would she know this guy?" step by step until your brain goes "Oooohhhh, fuck!" and then it spells it out for you to make it clear that is what they were going for and in case you didn't catch on. Then give you a high drama finale for good measure.
I just joined this X-Men run in last thread of Secret Wars, this is the first time I'm looking at them since they came out. Combined with the early '80's Thor Legionnaire did this weekend, it is such a reminded of how good these comics were then. I'm blown away.
>>83733910
I'm only here to check that the post numbers are it order X-Anon it's not as if I like your images or anything.
>>83734920
Storm's a bitch.
>>83733811
>>83733681
Is that kid ever brought up again?
>>83734995
I got to say, I really dislike the name Raven Darkholme. It sounds like a shitty OC.
>>83739281
It kinda makes me wonder if she's really-really an evil mutant who lost who she was entirely to the stollen good Carol identity and leaving Mystique, joining the X-Men, and becoming a superhero was all that Carol part's doing.
And when she (spoiler) finally got rid of the Carol part it was too late to reclaim her original identity because half her life was full of being a goodygoody.
I think this because these old issues are not showing the same Rogue as more modern comics do.
I'm thinking that if she had never touched 'Marvel she would still be a loyal Brotherhood member and bad to the core.
Hey, everyone take a look at this page: >>83734665
... and let's play a game of "spot the Hydra double agent!"
>>83740314
Is it Nick Fury?
>>83739944
It's a good theory really.
Though the discovery of how terrifying your power is, to yourself as well as others, could prompt a change of heart and seeking out Xavier for a way to control it (like Cyclops).
The Brotherhood never had very good training or that central caretaker like the X-Men had. Also not a lot of sympathy for the "omg I'm a monster I need help with my powers!" line of thought.
There is a lot of reason for Rogue to leave for the X-Men. Though Carol's mind pushing her in the right direction is a theory I like.
>>83740330
No (so far as I know...),
It's actually Countess Italianii Stereotypeii, who could have seen that coming? I'll tell you who: someone who wasn't blind.
>>83740342
>Xavier helped Cyclops control his powers
When the hell did that ever happen? Scott had glasses that stopped the blasts before he met Charles Xavier! Xavier did nothing to help him with that.
>>83740461
Yeah, I was just fucking around. Though considering the bedridden guy is a Hellfire Club agent, Fury is actually outnumbered by the traitors in that room.
>>83740461
>When the hell did that ever happen? Scott had glasses that stopped the blasts before he met Charles Xavier! Xavier did nothing to help him with that.
No, sorry, I wasn't trying to imply that. One of the Xavier Schools things has always been to help mutants train to control their powers so they weren't constant threat to everyone around them, an idea Rogue could appreciate. Scott was the only older mutant I could think of with a power that's dangerous if uncontrolled.
Now that I think about it, who has Xavier really helped in this fashion? I can't think of any that didn't turn out to be a disaster.
>>83740586
(GRUFF VOICE:) That's what it is to be Nick F#@%ing FURY!
>>83740621
I guess Wolverine- No... Jean, HELL NO...
Beast got totally furry-screwed over by the entire experience, Angel too, Colossus, Nightcrawler, even Kitty Pryde got stuck in a space-bullet because of joining the X-Men! Dang!
You're right. I can't think of one he actually helped.
>>83740757
To be fair, Hank turned himself into a blue furry after leaving the school because he was an idiot.
>>83740757
So what we're saying here is a young mutant is better off trying to join the Avengers. Maybe do like, "high school" at Xaviers, but then fuck off to learn and train elsewhere.
>>83740810
>So what we're saying here is a young mutant is better off trying to join the Avengers.
Yeah and end up like Wanda.
>>83740810
When did the Avengers let teenagers join before Waid's All-New? Were Wanda and Pietro supposed to be teenagers?
>>83741565
What about Firestar and her boyfriend? I remember them being in that big Ultron series.
>>83739475
Multiple times yes.
I think the last time she showed up was in Wolverine Goes To Hell.
Keep posting OP. Its been a long time since i had a good storytime. Its appreciated.
>>83739475
Yeah, occasionally. Last time I saw her was in Jason Aaron's Wolverine run. IIRC she was dating the new teenage Silver Samurai.
>>83735511
Forge!!
>>83742388
I was going to comment on how awful his outfit it, but we all dressed like that.
>>83742435
People still dress like that, men wearing short-shorts regained popularity a couple of summers ago before disappearing again.
>>83739478
It is, Mystique made up the name when she was younger and trying to be edgy. Next retcon of her origins it will be from a fan fic she was writing.
>>83740810
It's not like being young is any safer. Illyana was 6 and got hit harder than pretty much anyone
I play tennis and see nothing wrong in Forges clothes.
>>83736164
So like Magic or the Scarlet Witch but a bad guy?
>>83744674
>Scarlet Witch
>not a bad guy
