Why do people on here compare cartoons to anime so much?
Over the past few weeks I've seen about three threads about comparing anime to cartoons. They're completely two different mediums and in my opinion Cartoons are superior. With cartoons you have a lot more freedom and better animation while in anime you can only make moeshit or never have a show that lasts past 12 episodes.
Why do people compare these two?

They are both the same exact thing except one originates in a specific country and hence is a reflection of a different style/country. There's nothing stopping anime from having the feel and style of a western cartoon, and vice-versa. There are no actual differences unless you discriminate animation based on point of origin.
