Liefield is a good editor - look at the work he did back with Moore's Youngblood for example.
His art hit the spot back in the 90's - it was different and loud and big. He wasn't an illustrator, but a storyteller.

Don't know. I will say that his run on ultimate F4 will always have a place in my heart, even though it was despite his art, not because of it.
Liefeld at least can hide behind the fact that he is also a writer and some people might like his writing even if they don't like his art (i wouldn't know, never read anything by him). Land doesn't have that advantage.

I don't understand the hate for Greg Land whatsoever. UF4 is a God tier comic. He traced, who cares? The art isn't offensive at all.
Liefeld was a superstar back in the day and what he did influenced american comics, for better or worse. Land is just a nobody compared to him, without any real impact.

I dont mind tracing really, but when I can look at an image and know it's Land because he's traced that image twice before it's kind of an issue.
Liefeld's art may be a chappy product of it's time but at least it's his art. Land is just a chap artist who never got over Pamela Anderson.

Hating on him eventually became tiresome. He's on the same level as Dillon in my list. An infamously bad artist that I like just because It's fun to look at his traces. Maybe I'll start feeling that way about Erica Henderson once the novelty of her art wears out and reviewers turn on her.

The truth is that you only know Liefeld art is bad because you look at it now, as young adults or just regular adults. Back in the 90s, when you were the prepubescents this capeshit is supposed to be marketed to, all those bulging muscles and gritted teeth and oversized guns and pouched were just awesome and you couldn't care less about weird feet or impossible spines. So yeah, Liefeld might be a bad artist but he did good enough for his audience. Hating on him is a post-2000 trend, maybe even post-2010.

Not correct. Back in the 90s, when Land was actually drawing stuff, his art was pretty good.
In fact his art would be still decent today, if he wasn't just tracing the exact same four or five faces over and over again.
