Today is Morbi's birthday which means this marks the 3rd anniversary of the webcomic Poppy O' Possum since it was started on his birthday.
I know we usually have threads on updates but I thought it would be nice to discuss the comic overall. Has art and story telling gotten better or worse? Have the characters become more interesting or dull? Are you more invested now than you were before or were you more invested earlier? And most importantly: Have its fans become more insufferable as time gone along or were they always that way?
I didn't really want a start a recurring general. I just thought it would be fun to discuss the three year ride thus far.

I like where the comic is going, the sudden marriage proposal from Kit was jarring, but in this day and age is it really not to be expected? I don't mind it really now once I realize this will help lay ground for Lilly to not be so mopey and give Poppy distraction rather than counting the candles on her final days.
Yeah, its a lot of wish fulfillment but it's Morbi's comic, he can make his characters suffer, successful, dead, alive on a whim. I've just learned to respect that now.

Taken from the Poppy tumblr, this is where I think Morbi is gonna take Poppy and Kit's relationship. Their love for each other isn't gonna be entirely selfless. Poppy wants Lily to be taken care of and being married to a rich Queen is the perfect way to do that. Kit wants to help out Opossums and make everyone see that they're just regular people and she wants them around so she can actually see people instead of just blurry particle mush. In addition, things aren't gonna be fine and dandy for the two of them. The Darling family isn't gonna be happy, Kit's subjects aren't gonna be happy, Kit is under threat of Chicadino and the Specter of Fate and many of Kit's issues regarding the cure and her family were left unanswered at the end of Poppy 6. Poppy just stopped herself from destroying herself physically and emotionally.
Now does this mean their relationship is doomed? No. I think they really will love each other enough to endure the obstacles.. Poppy isn't one to give up on something and neither is Kit. She's the type to spend spend 45 hours straight in the lab. But I do think there is gonna be a lot of tension in the relationship, and they are gonna have to get past the "5 day dates" period really quick and move onto the "lets sit down and work this out together" period really damn quick.

I’ve fallen out of love with Poppy after the last couple of chapters. Chapter 5’s dragon fight is still confusing as hell even after Morbi went back and fixed it. The thing that really bugged me was when she ripped off the top off a mountain and threw it at the dragon and started falling down all nonchalant like she’s a Dragon Ball Z character. It would be alright if it was the finally of the comic but where do you go after that as a character. You know when the bearboar fight in the beginning of the chapter was more fun than the actual dragon fight something’s wrong.
Chapter 6 was all over the place with tone. Why did Poppy not catch Kit when she fell down the stairs, when it’s been established earlier in the chapter that she can move very quickly to protect Kit.Besides Morbi getting off to Kit suffering

Well, she's about to start training with Petunia. Poppy's whole thing is that she's just all brawn and instinct. She's ridiculously strong but her fighting style is self-taught and messy. That's why, according to Morbi, Friedrich would kick her ass even though he lacks her raw power.
Also, even as strong as she is, Poppy's lost quite a bit. She (almost) lost against Boris and just got lucky. Fazzi kicked her ass. Poda kicked her ass. She was a big fish in a small pond before she came to Eggton and now there are lot of people who could murder her.
I agree with some of the other points. I didn't think the dragon fight was confusing though.

I think this has less to do with the panel layout and more to do with the placement of Poppy and what's going on with the dragon. In the first panel it looks like she's on the ground, and in the third she's in the air. With the foot winding up there's no build up. It just grows an eye, has a twisty motion, and then swats Poppy out of the air.

The leg also visibly bulges before it shoots out? By this point, the comic's thoroughly asserted that Dragon anatomy is fucking batshit freaky, so it's really not hard to accept a limb snapping and whipping around like a tentacle.
I was in one of the other threads reading through the people saying whether or not Morbi is a shit and whether or not the yuri plot was justified when I kept seeing Endtown mentioned, so I decided to give it a go.
2 Days later I'd binged through the entire fucking thing.
I'm still looking forward to the Freddie story arc but somehow it's harder to care about the characters in Eggton anymore.
