And yes, as long as there was agreement on not diverting too much from Alex's intentions with it and Alex still wrote most of Weirdmageddon, he could have had another writer fill in for a season's worth of shows if Alex was so out of ideas. Both the show's format and multiple other aspects of it easily allowed for it.
