I'm fine with Thug Joker, and I think Leto will pull it off unless the directing was just outright asinine. I'm pretty sure Wol Smoth's required majority of the screen time combined with him being Wol Smoth is going to sink the movie, though. Like if I thought they could reign him in he might be almost passable as this version of Deadshot, but I don't believe there is a director alive who can break that bronco nowadays and keep him from mugging for the camera.

BvS hinges on Batman not knowing Clark's got a human mom or a secret identity or loved ones. That's the myopia I'm talking about. People defend it by saying he's blinded by rage and paranoia, and that's fine. But that's for that story. And it means that he's a detective that's handed all his information via second hand sources (Luthor, who is pretty obviously unhinged) and doesn't verify them himself.
He's not the perfect Batman/Bruce Wayne until we get a rendition or story in which he's deserving of the title of World's Greatest Detective; an aspect that the movies LOVE downplaying whenever possible.
