I think the animated feature will be alright, it could even be good. the comic suffered from what seemed like too much editorial bullshit. it had like atleast 3 soft reboots and gave John Constantine the worst fucking origin
I've read the first volume. Beautiful art but it's really just 'alright' at best.
Seems like it's going to be something really interesting but never gets really good through the first arc.

THIS. The writing is pretty mediocre to poor (one arc ends with them going full One More Day and having Zee and John "sacrifice their love" ... which would have made much more sense if they'd been a long standing couple rather than ex's who knocked boots back in the day; as it was it was just: "yeah, so?"); but the horrible stiff blank eyed uncanny vally posershite makes it so SO much worse.
It was a really good idea having the "spooky" characters running around in a Tardis (The House of Ideas can teleport itself; and is bigger on the inside, ect); but utterly lacking in execution.

I'm reading it right now and I'm not as happy as I thought I'd be.
For some reason I thought Justice League Dark was about Constantine, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Amethyst, Frankenstein and Zatanna all being on the same team. I don't know where I got that idea from so I was disappointed.
But I'm on like #4 or 5 so maybe it happens later.

Hey man, I love his art. He draws really good-looking people and it 'pops' visually, also thanks to the colorist(s) he works with. Reading JLD and Grayson both were a treat for my eyes.
And I do agree that the concept behind JLD was better than the actual execution of what I'd read of it.

It's literally a "dark" version of the New52 Justice League getting together. And it's obvious that that's going to happen from the start. I don't know how you're not getting that.

I'm still appaled that the worst run came from fucking DeMatteis. I fucking hated his run with the burn of a thousand suns. Jesus fuck. I was already mad when John Constantine tricked everyone turning them into his slaves thanks to the House's magic, but when DeMatteis came he started to focus on the terrible abusive relationship of Constantine and Zatanna, making Zatanna into this battered wife who's constantly giving John new chances to be used and abused knowing full well that's what will happen. Then the whole thing ends with Zatanna retconning their love for one another as a sacrifice and crying like a bitch.
I fucking hated that. Oh, and let's not forget Jeff Lemire's new origin for both of them where Zee was a wizard groupie and Nick Necro's fucktoy, with Necro teaching John everything he knew and then the three having an affair and magical orgies.
