...Grail as a concept sounds like a 13yr old made it up. The hot daughter of Darkseid and a previously unmentioned Amazon super assassin, who was born the same night as Wonder Woman and was raised and trained in secret.
Grayven I think he was called was just too generic. He made much more sense, just some Darkseid bastard, like many villains, in his first appearance he is a big deal but after that he just became more and more irrelevant.
I have to say he is less worse, but much more trivial. She just came out so she remains a big deal, but she is just a crass and inelegant idea, like a fanfiction.
