Can anyone give me the skinny on empowered?
Does it do anything interesting?
From what I've heard it's like Captain Marvel with a slice of cheesecake.
the world it makes is great, with some really compelling character arcs.
the whole thing is slowed down immensely by huge portions of random cheesecake fluff, and by characters occasionally just talking.
Worth binge reading, but each volume moves the story forwards so slowly it can be frustrating.
Most of us started reading it for the fap material, as we were genuinely surprised that the characters are really likeable and the story really interesting. You almost feel guilty for fapping to emp.

It starts off as this weird softcore bondage superhero parody and then it turns into humiliation porn where Warren sees how much he can shit on the heroine and everyone she cares about before they crack. The turning point comes in the first volume whereher cute professional hecnhman boyfriend turns out to be a former domestic terrorist who targeted superheroes and he's om the run from an invincible flame elemental supervillain who's sworn to skullfuck everyone he's ever loved.
It's a pretty interesting take on a world where supers are basically TMZ level celebrities, but it isn't for everyone. It's pretty annoying when Warren hints at all this plot stuff going on that won't get followed up for the next five years while he works on the next book.
Aren't one or more of the characters coal burners?
It looks like pure fap material, but it's got a great deconstruction under it.

It doesn't really have anything to do with Captain Marvel other than being about superheroes.

It noodles around for a volume or so before it settles in its style. It remains weird but most volumes are actually whodunnits and Emp is sandbagging it big time before cracking the cases.
The author is serialising it on Hiveworks and comments each page in detail, well worth a read if you want to learn more about how these things develop. A lot of coincidences condense later on into proper plots.

Make it through the first few volumes, and then it gets good. I'll admit i grabbed it as prospective fap material, which incidentally it was no good for, but i stayed on because hidden under the gratuitous fan service were some intriguing plot hooks.
