Ok fuckers, thanks to the Rogues Gallery thread you all make me wanna read Sonic the Hedgehog comic. What should I expect?
>>
>>83619356
A lighthearted adventure comic with a few dark moments sprinkled here and there filled with action, comedy, and some memorable characters.
>>
Skip to #160 and go from there
>>
>>83619356
Just don't start at issue one, somewhere in the 170's is were I hoped on.
>>
I assume you mean Archi, not Fleetway? Because those are very different books.
>>
>>83619551
>>83619565
I read number #1 and it was pretty boring. Did nothing important happens on the first 160 numbers?
>>
Never seen this asked, but where would you recommend starting in the Sonic Universe comics?(the side series about everyone but Sonic)
>>
>>83619598
Yes, Archie.
>>
>>83619356
>Sonic carrying Sally.
>That surprised Amy in the background.
>"I don't ship Sonally!" Ian said at that time.
>>
>>83619640
There was a soft reboot, and later a hard reboot in like issue 200 or something. It was in the 160's that they got a new writer. There's a good story to that itself but other Anons can better tell it.
>>
>>83619640

Important things happen here and there but the quality is all over the place.

Anything that does reference the old comics 160 onwards does have citation plugging the old comic because the old editor got a ragging hard on for putting as many in as he could.
>>
>>83619743
>>83619760
Thanks anons. I think I`ll jump to 160.

but you'll miss out on robotnik dying, being replaced with a robot version from another universe, tails fulfilling his multiversal destiny, sonic travelling to space to become a god, and knuckles' adventures in becoming a demigod and turning green.

This is such a confusing family tree, it goes UPSIDE DOWN

>it says I have to read 125.
God dammit.

Slowly becoming a furfag?

It goes like that: you read the first issues for silliness and once it gets bad you stop (but not earlier than you hit #50). Feel free to skip as for the most of time there was no overarching story yet.

And now he never will.

Ha.
>>
>>83620901
Would Sega ever change their minds about that?
>>
>>83620967
Probably not.

And even if they did, Ian got so fed up with the shipping wars he said no SonSal anymore even before Sega's mandate.

We all know Sonic's one true love is Blaze anyway.

Depends if you're okay with reading stuff that's tied with the pre-reboot universe. If not then just read #21-24 then skip to #55. Personally I think the good arcs are #1-4, #17-40, 46-50 (51-54 are part of the first MM crossover, which is usually agrred to be the good one) and 55-74, then 79-current.
>>
>>83621500
Thanks for the input!
Personally, I'd love to read more about the origins and backstory of one of my favorite characters in the comic, Nicole, as well as stuff with her in general. Is the "Spark of Life" arc a good place to start, or would you recommend something else?
>>
>>83622092
I would start with the backups of #260-262 then proceed to Spark of Life. She hasn't really gotten that much focus post-reboot yet.

>Read issues 226-229 first. Those issues are a self contained adaptation of Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 that sum up the nature of what the series is like currently. Your enjoyment of those issues will determine your enjoyment of newer issues
>After that, go to issue 252 and start reading there
>After issue 256, start reading Sonic Universe from issue 59. Switch to the other series after each arc. Keep reading until you get to the newest issue
>If you enjoyed what you read, go back to issue 160 of the main series and read from there
>Start reading Universe from issue 1 after you reach issue 197 of the main series
>Go back to issue 1 if you still want more after that
>Don't read anything from issue 88 to 159. Just don't. (Well 138-141 is okay I guess but nothing else from that period)
>>
>no one will ever storytime all the Sonic comics
Feels bad man
>>
>>83623200
Almost considered storytiming Sonic Boom #1 out of boredom.
>>
>>83623220
Also, read the Sonic Boom comics. They take place in their own universe and are absolutely amazing.

Too bad it was cancelled......
>>
>>83623168
That`s very specific, kinda what I was looking for, Thanks man.
>>
>>83623200
We've waited long enough to justify another *ahem* "ongoing Sonic story time"; but the thing is, nobody has the patience to do another one.

Meanwhile, some guy is still going story timing the entire run of X-Men
>>
>>83623311
Well there's only about 11 issues of Sonic Boom, and I think 2 of them were part of a crossover.
>>
>>83623200
>>no one will ever storytime all the Sonic comics

We've done that twice.
>>
>>83623525
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkkr8VgUv-o
>>
>>83623311
I would do it but

1. I don't have the time to commit myself to doing a storytime thread every night.
2. Captcha would get on my fucking nerves before too long.

>>83623390
We're talking about a gigantic marathon for every issue of the series
>282+ issues of the main comic
>85+ issues of Universe
>16 issues of various miniseries
>At least 25 various special issues
>32 issues of Knuckles
>40 issues of Sonic X
>11 issues of Boom
>7 issues of Mega Man from crossovers
That's nearly 500 individual issues right there. It would take a long ass time to get through the whole thing.

The comic is a widely varying beast. It was silly fun, then grim derp, from 1-50, then full fucking retard from the spinoffs and 51 - 159. Then the new team hops on after multiple 2006 tier disasters and horrendous art and the quality bumps are immediately noticeable.

It starts out as an extension to SATAM that barely shoehorns game elements into rebooting the universe into a expanded game universe with elements picked out of all of Sonic. Part of the charm before the reboot is how the new team tried to fix the clusterfuck the comic became in interesting and clever ways. You can enjoy the comic starting from 160 as well. It's designed to be easy to get into as possible. There's a lot of shit you will not fully appreciate unless you suffer through those early issues. In the end the majority of the side characters and universe get fucked into a fate worse than death because the autism of the old writer, but ultimate it is for the better in 252 soft reboot. You can start from there as well, but you'll miss some of the better bits of the comic.

The usual advice is to read from the start to 50. I guess you can skip the super specials, but the Knuckles Comic is so comically bad that it might be worth reading as most of that bullshit later comes to fuck up the main book. Pic fucking related. From there read from 50 to as far as you can go before it gets so fucking bad that you cannot continue. Then skip to 160 and continue from there. Also pick up the Universe sister comic when it starts to supplement the main story and side stories.

>>83623200

We need another few years. /v/ or /co/ may not recover after another ride.
>>
I'm interested in the storytime, you could skip the bad parts.
>>
If someone can give me a download link I'll do it. Might take a few weeks because I have plans, but after that my schedule is free until September
>>
>>83623597
>>83623714
Well I meant only Sonic Boom for now.
>>
>>83623597
Yeah, captcha is a bitch for storytime

You guys said that a few years ago.

If you want it to be a taboo, just say so, and stop stringing everyone along.

To the anon that is thinking about story timing, you can follow this guide. Lists pretty much everything in canonical order.

It's not the most up to date version as I don't have that saved. I'm sure somebody else has that and can post it here.
>>
>>83623284
Oh, and start reading Mega Man at around 230 also. There's a crossover starting at #248. You might be able to get to the crossover at both issues at the same time.
