this comic was bad. and I mean really bad. Unpleasant and ugly. and Most importantly, Manco's art lacks the sort of speed and kineticism required for a comic about ya know racing. If they had gotten a Manapul type or hell Manapul himself it would have upped this from a 1.5/5 to a 3/5. But the comic, even for its mad max-ian approach, lacks any of what made mad max and its most recent sequel fun

This was just awful. Completely misses the point of both wacky races AND mad max, and tries to create some horrid Frankenstein's monster of the two that just looks disgusting. The personalities are even more bland and boring than the original's, and I didn't even think that was possible. The art is an incoherent train wreck that makes it near impossible to make out what going on. Future Quest is the only really good book out of this line, everything else is such a massive waste it's not even funny.

Art honestly isn't that bad. It's a bit grimy and dirty but it comes with the aesthetic, the characters themselves look like they were modeled off Poser but they have diverse enough body types and faces (Unlike say Janin's or Zircher's) for it to work. Characterization would be something that'll get better overtime, more or less expect the three main characters Peter, Dick, and Penny to take most of the characterization here.

I liked the idea of it being a satire of the cartoon by making it look so much like Mad Max. I had hoped thered be a degree of tonal dissonance between the art and dialogue, and it really seems not to be the case, and as though all the anons who said

turned out to be right. I think I agree with other anons that the book could benefit from a cartoonier art style.
You know I thought I'd give it a chance because it's Wacky Races and they're doing some kind of apocalyptic rockabilly thing with it but this kinda sucks.
It's ugly and messy and why the fuck do the cars talk? What does that add? The racers already talk to each other anime style. Did they do the jump back and forward thing to distract us from how the race itself wasn't very good or exciting?
I do like them all hanging out together as frenemies though. That's fun.
