That works. Only other complaint is this idea that Mera simply tolerates living on land when during Johns' and Parker's runs she was all for it. 1. Aqua really is lame. People say that he's only useful underwater which is completely disconnected from the rest of the heroes. The comic kind of enforces this idea. I guess it's cool when he's not on the surface, but since he's in a shared universe with surface heroes it's distracting.
2. Aren't the Deluge sympathetic. If the leader of my country was foreign born, with a foreign father, and showed more care for literally every other nation on earth I too would want to kill him.

Well the way I see it the Deluge thing isn't a case of good vs bad. If you were a human you'd probably want to exploit the Atlantians and think Aqua-man is awesome since he's on your side. If you were an Atlantian you'd probably be pissed off at humans taking your ocean's resources and traveling all over it. You'd probably be pretty xenophic and having a war with humans would seem natural. I guess ultimately the humans would win since they have more super heroes and the Deluge would be nationalists trying to pick a fight with a foreign power they can't win.
I think the idea of having a hero that operates in a different world is neat, he seem's more meaningful in a solo comic than in something like the justice league.
