Yes but you can see dark movies or video games about Batman or Daredevil. Just imagine if you make a dark movie or video game about TMNT now. People will whine because muh childhood destroyed.

IDk about that...through out the 90s the "edgy" angry looking version of TMNT existed through toys, video games, and comics
Only the biggest TMNT non fans would whine, but yeah there certainly wouldn't be anything like R rated...but a darker portrayal would actually be nostalgic for a lot of fans

I don't know man. The fail of the last movie is still surprising to me. It appeals to the main audience who only knows tmnt by the first cartoon. You have Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady, the Technodrome, Casey Jones. It brings almost everything people like but it seems they don't care after all. Is tmnt popularity begins to decrease again? We know the trend about this franchise is cyclic. Time will tell.
