Old Peter was just a stupid sitcom dad and bad stuff happened because he was stupid. Even when things got bad he still cared about his family.New Peter is a borderline psychopath who maliciously causes problems and they write off him murdering people as a joke
The "offensive" humor is also just lazy now. They were cancelled because they made an episode about Peter wanting a Jewish accountant and insinuating that Jewish people are all smart.
Now they regularly show big nosed Jews every week.

Many complain about how their parodies are just references and I feel the same about their black comedy - it has all the black, but doesn't necessary have any jokes.
It's still funny when it has actual jokes, but it's not as often as it should be.

This, it was always mediocre at best.
The last OK season was season 8. Anything above season 8 is total garbage. also the character's personality dramatically change after season 3
