I have the day off tomorrow, so let's do a bigger storytime than usual and finish off Iron Fist!
>>83496393
>>83529391
That anon from last night who joked about all the times Danny was accused of murder... Cap isn't.
I forget, who does Jarvis work for? Tony Stark, right? Is he in the new Iron Man series, or is Bendis being Bendis?
So what, is this four people who think Danny killed?
Even Danny is calling bullshit on the whole "Hero vs Hero" thing.
It wasn't until decades later that Danny could go through an entire fight with the Iron Fist power. At this point, it takes a lot out of him to use it, even if it isn't to punch.
>>83559588
I thought he was the Avengers' butler, but he was paid by Tony.
>>83560050
Most of the classic Marvel I've read doesn't go into detail for the Avengers, so I don't know.
Finally, my favourite time in current nights.
>>83559523
Cap should know about misunderstandings. I mean, he has Hawkeye in his team by now, right?
So did every Marvel team of the time have a Danger Room?
>>83559588
>>83560050
>>83560103
He works for the avengers, yes. I'm not sure who pays him tho. For some reason, I associate him with Pym, not Stark.
>>83560185
>Finally, my favourite time in current nights.
Stop, you'll make me blush
>Cap should know about misunderstandings. I mean, he has Hawkeye in his team by now, right?
If I had to deal with classic Hawkeye, I'd assume that only he has luck that bad.
>>83560256
I thought Tony was the one who financed the Avengers.
>>83559588
They called him "Tony Stark's butler" in the earliest issues.
>>83560317
Lucky Iron Man and Tony Stark are such good friends!
>>83560317
Do you think Jarvis gets extra pay for working for the Avengers, or is that part of working for Tony Stark?
>>83560317
You're right. I don't know why I thought it was Pym.
From some wiki:
>The newly formed team assembled a short time later at the midtown Manhattan mansion of industrialist Anthony Stark (in reality their fellow member Iron Man). Stark soon donated the mansion to the Avengers for their exclusive use, and set up a foundation to cover all the operation expenses of the nonprofit team under his mother's name, creating the Maria Stark Foundation. The team put down a charter and by laws to govern their operations. The Stark family's trusted butler Edwin Jarvis was kept on as the principal regular domestic employee at what became known as the Avengers Mansion.
>>83560374
Who knows... How high is an avenger salary actually?
Ouch, Iron Fist to the balls. Even if you do have Thor-tier durability that's going to have to hurt like a bitch.
>Back again!
>Boomerang!
Back before his Superior Foes days, even before Parkerbolts!
>>83560648
Before he had a good costume!
And sporting a costume that's significantly lamer than his modern one.
>>83560714
He has to clatter when he walks, and those boomerangs on his ass must make sitting uncomfortable.
>>83560708
This is why I hate how disgustingly slow my modem's uploading is. Somebody else takes my jokes.
>>83560600
Danny, that's unfair, boy.
>>83560648
Oh, that was fast. Are they an item yet? Or this is still friendship?
And here's Misty Knight, sporting a costume from the Carmen Sandiego line.
>>83560766
I'm really liking the drawing of these issues. Not so much the color.
Wait, so are these boomerang shapes just designed onto the costume like here, or did he just tape a few of them onto his costume?
>>83560793
Still friendship, but hints at a relationship.
>>83560103
>Funny, I hadn't realized before tonight how much you mean to me.
So can anyone read what's on that crate? Is that a reference to another comic, or did they just make it up?
>>83560882
I think he actually taped them to his costume. Even Captain Boomerang didn't do that.
>>83560933
It's a reference to Modesty Blaise.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modesty_Blaise
>>83560882
>I'll shout my name in COLORED BOLDFACE! And speak a moderately long sentence while still hanging in the air!
Classic Claremont.
>>83560940
Something something butt stuff joke
>>83560979
I thought "Classic Claremont" was strong women and then demeaning those women with various fetishes?
>>83559251
>I have the day off tomorrow, so let's do a bigger storytime than usual and finish off Iron Fist!
Ah nertz. I need to get to bed early tonight. Oh well, thread'll stay open.
>>83559588
He works for Tony Stark, but got shifted over to the Avengers not long after they started, because for years and years, the Avengers were funded by the Maria Stark Foundation, which Tony controlled. (And which Kang controlled, through Tony) (Never forget The Crossing)
>>83561321
Yeah, I should be getting to bed soon too, I need to be up by 5.
Don't worry, we'll get to who this guy actually is tonight, I promise.
>>83561321
>>83561396
My normal shift ends at 11 PM, which is why I do them this late. Otherwise I'd do them like I did my Genis-Vell threads a few months ago.
>>83561395
There are people who CAN forget The Crossing?
>>83560517
Enough to keep Hawkeye flush with trick arrows and jetcycles.
>>83561464
And to think that we will have Faramir for Meachum... What a world we live in.
>>83561464
I'm usually up pretty late too, I just volunteered to work at the polls this year.
>>83561496
It was so confusing that most of the details slipped out of my mind. Wasn't there a kid in a potato sack that predicted the future and a lady that looked like a gorilla got murdered?
I can't imagine it's easy to climb onto the top of a building, just to jump through the cieling?
>>83561059
Well, it is.
But so is the page long monologue delivered midair as a character does a 5 foot jump.
>>83561515
>He's a terrorist! He gets people killed!
>He''s not! He's a good man and he'0s my friend!!
Classic.
>>83561408
Man, that is some jumpsuit he's rocking there.
It's like a white version of Rightclops.
>>83561626
Remember, this was before 9/11.
Combine the fact that he's a terrorist with the fact that he's actually bombed things, and I really want him to be in the Netflix show JUST to see if they can do it.
>>83561655
>White
Oh, just you wait, Anon...
>>83561464
It's not usually a problem for me. I have a downright unhealthy sleep cycle.
Frankly, I'm just happy you're running these stories.
>Rocketrang
Do you think he had to take the time to think "Rocketerang, or Rocketrang?"
>Snowfire
He's also known as something else. That name is FAR more famous.
brb, just gonna post in another thread...
>>83561730
Snowflame, right?
Introducing, for the first time in the Marvel Universe, the arch-enemy of Wolverine, SABERTOOTH!
>>83561700
I was actually going to post this very same question.
That and how he pays for all those fancy boomerangs. Now we know Hawk probably has some indecent salary. But how the hell do these villains pay for their stuff? It never crossed my mind until now. I guess suspension of disbelief is really necessary for this stuff to work.
>>83561730
Marvel Canada isn't nearly as interesting as it will be at this point.
Wolverine's around, and so are the Wendigo, but it wasn't really until Alpha Flight that the GoC became a perpetual monster creation machine.
>>83561776
Now that was unexpected.
>>83561764
Nope, he's DC.
>>83561778
A lot of the powered, rather than gadget based ones go into debt with the Power Broker, who gives them powers, but at prices you need to break the law to afford.
Back in the 80s, various Iron Man badguys like Justin Hammer or Obadaih Stane would bankroll tech based villains, like say the Beetle or Blizzard, with a similar arrangement.
Other times it's World Conqueror types running the Masters of Evil like Zemo or Egghead, who have money to begin with.
>>83561802
Sabertooth was apparently just a Byrne design for an unmasked Wolverine, only to find out that he was already drawn unmasked. But, rather than get rid of it, he used it on a brand new character. But before he ever tangled with Wolverine, he battled Iron Fist.
>>83561776
It's not that surprising. I mean Mystique and Rogue were Ms. Marvel villains at first.
>>83561778
Bendis tried to answer that once with the original "Secret War", where he revealed that they were being funded by Latveria.
Speaking of, when Bendis comes into the picture there'll be a LOT more Luke Cage in the Marvel Universe.
He's in Alias, The Pulse, a major player in New Avengers, and all the stuff the New Avengers are involved in, with Iron Fist getting involved in the second volume of New Avengers.
>"SURPRISE HUG!"
And here he is, the man we've all been waiting for!
>>83561984
You say hug, but it looks a lot lewder than that.
>>83562048
I can't see his waist, so I'm going with hug.
>>83561959
Secret Wars wasn't a book I read. I did read New Avengers for a while, if only for Clint and Bucky. I must be a masochist. I must confess that I find Luke rather bland, unless he's with someone who serves as his foil. And Jess isn't proper foil.
>>83562080
The way Bendis writes him, he's pretty bland.
>>83562080
When we finish this story, we all will be able to argue if the fault lies with Luke as a character or with Bendis for defining who he is.
So does modern Sabertooth say "bub" often, or is this more Sabertooth-Wolverine bleedover?
And does this argument about Sabertooth having no technique still hold true, or did they retcon in some ninja training or something BS like that?
As I'm sure you can notice, I'm connecting to a different nearby modem. This one isn't nearly as shitty.
Speaking of power creep, here's Danny beating Sabertooth without using the Iron Fist, and while blind.
>>83562114
>>83562119
I hope the one to blame is Bendis. I want to blame him again for something. I really want to.It's funny that my first read was Ultimate Spider Man and I liked it, but since then the road has been stoned by pain.
And now, my favorite issue of Iron Fist's solo series!
>>83562232
I like USM too. Hell, I'll do you one worse and admit to liking New Avengers.
Somewhere along the lines, he stopped giving a shit.
How can Danny tell what kind of kick it was from behind? He's not Daredevil, all he should feel is a boot to the back of the head.
>Surprise Hug 2: The sequel!
>>83562254
Daaamnnn! I feel nostalgic. My dad had this issue, I think. Here it was published later, in the early 80's, I think.
... Man, Wolverine was a beta when it came to Jean back in the old days, huh?
>>83561730
>He's also known as something else. That name is FAR more famous.
Snaggletooth? Rapierfang? Sebastianclaw? Apollo Creed?
>>83562323
So was this second panel why your dad kept the issue for all those years?
>Bushmaster
I can't even come up with a stupid joke, that name is just dumb.
For those of you who are wondering why Wolverine is dressed like this, this takes place almost immediately after the original Shi'Ar arc where Logan straight up stole this costume. In the next X-Men issue Wolverine had changed back, so this takes place between issues.
>>83562332
>... Man, Wolverine was a beta when it came to Jean back in the old days, huh?
Did he ever stop?
>>83562308
Surprise hug nothing, he's clearly trying to absorb Danny's chi through frottage.
>>83562365
I'm not sure. I'm going to bet on the x-men stuff. But you never know. It's a plus, clear as day. And he had some wonderful drawn conan-esque comics with some very nice ladies. My dad had a curious collection of comic books . We had Spider-Man too, and some national comics people outside probably doesn't know. I started to read with all those books.
>>83562273It was enjoyable. But there were places in which every character had the same voice. Antagonists included. Ah, btw, when I said my first, I mean my first Bendis experience. I am not that young, even if I wish I was.
>>83562332
He was such a creep, I don't see how anyone unironically ships it.
This issue takes place between 108 and 109 over here:
>>83562254
Is this the crossover where Stormgets a potato salad to the face?
>>83562448
He definitely did, eventually. I clearly remember her kissing him in Morrison's New X-Men and he flat out said "This never ends well."
He may have even called him Darling.
>>83562365
Looking pretty Bond Girl there, Misty.
>>83562510
You don't have to be young. Maybe you got into comics recently.
Danny's doing pretty well against three X-Men. Probably the worst showing they have as a team until the original Secret Wars.
>>83562544
Yes
On the other hand, unlike Spider-Man, Iron Fist quickly gets overwhelmed when he has to fight the entire team.
Something tells me that physics calls bullshit on Iron Fist's stunt right here.
>>83562598
Oh, right. Didn't cross my mind..
>>83562677
That was dangerous, man.
You decide!
Did Jean read Iron Fist's mind to discover who he is, did Misty spill it during a girl's night out, or is Danny's disguise that bad?
Also, I love Storm's embarrassed reactions.
>>83562721
I like to think that Danny is just that bad at keeping his identity secret.
>>83562187
>And does this argument about Sabertooth having no technique still hold true, or did they retcon in some ninja training or something BS like that?
From what I can recall, Sabretooth's always been portrayed as being this wild, all-out brawler. With the (much-later) revelation that he used to be a member of the elite covert operations unit "Team X" alongside Wolverine, though, one would assume that he's had extensive hand-to-hand combat training.
This page is another reason this is my favorite Iron Fist issue. Between Claremont and Byrne's cameo on the first panel to that "Oh, so you've talken to some bean counter from Rand-Meachum? I'm Danny RAND."
And that's the end of Iron Fist's solo series. However, there's a few plot threads left hanging that get resolved in other titles.
Who is the mysterious masked man who keeps hugging Danny?
Will Misty survive her assignment? Let's find out!
Okay, we can talk about him now.
>>83562721
Danny is the cutest. I cannot stop smiling.
Oh yeah, "Rand-K'ai" is his K'un Lun name. Yet another thing that isn't remembered anymore.
>>83562823
If he were an X-Men character, Singer would've already cast and had sex with his actor.
So do real women's clothes actually have a Power Girl-esque tit window, was that a 70's thing, or have I just been with the wrong women?
You picked the wrong superhero to try to kill!
>>83562788
>Steel Serpent
Less dirty sounding than Solid Snake, but not by much.
>Danny Rand looks like the head of HYDRA
God damn it Spidey, how can you make such a claim!
Actually, holy shit. Looking up what he looked like when he was young, he'd actually make a good Iron Fist...
So he insults him, yet still bows before the fight.
>"Holy crap, I've got to save him before he gets killed!"
>"But first, I'll take a minute to set up my camera and make a few bucks out of this."
I could storytime the issue he's referring to, if anyone wants me too.
>SURPRISE HUG 3: THE SORCERER!
And whoever gets THAT joke without google gets my applause.
>>83562886
They're a real thing, it's just something you don't wear every day.
>My place is with MY MAN.
So either she thinks they're an item, or this is just another weird 70's thing.
Iron Fist got his power stolen! Can he ever get it back? Toon in...
... right now!
>>83563003
I was going to sa that he's a serial hugger... but yours is way better.
>>83562962
Well yeah, he wants him dead but he has manners.
>>83563053
It helps that he doesn't spend most of his fights smack-talking his enemies.
>>83563026
She thinks he is hers, which he is, by what we know. Doesn't mean they are a couple. Poor Danny.
>>83563086
I dunno, he doesn't seem to mind.
>>83563026
No, she's saying she loves him. Which means the defining moments of their relationship are: meeting through a fistfight, bonding over a friend getting kidnapped, bonding over her getting kidnapped, and her stopping a kung fu duel with raygun.
Well, that's an inventive way of getting around "No shoes in my dojo!"
>>83563108
Spider-Man is such a dick.
>>83563105
Comics, Anon.
>>83563049
What the hell did you do to your hair, Colleen?
This fits in with what Fraction had in Immortal Iron Fist, yeah?
>>83563135
Why do you think his enemies hate him so much? He pounds them into the dirt, and insults their costumes, their names, and once their mother.
God damn it Spidey, you had one job!
Damn it, aren't you supposed to be fast?
>>83563108
They can't be that thick of boots considering they fit underneath his shoes. Colleen's being fussy.
As you're probably noticing by now, Colleen can be downright bloodthirsty.
>>83563205
Maybe she just doesn't like him? He is the kind that's hard to put up with.
And then Spidey gets freaking backhanded like a punk!
>let them alone!
>SURPRISE HUG 4: ENDGAME!
>panel 2
And now they're officially a couple.
Also, I do have the issue where Spidey met Misty, and I'll storytime that next.
And here's Yu-Ti, surprisingly NOT being a colossal bag of dicks. He's actually being surprisingly nice.
>>83563311
>And now they're officially a couple.
Not any more. She's riding Captain Falcon's dick now.
Guess Danny couldn't keep a sister satisfied.
This is technically NOT part of our major Power Man and Iron Fist storytime, but I found this on the way through, so I thought I'd share it, the first issue of Marvel Team-Up!
>>83563340
She's been with other men before, but she always gets back with Danny.
>Date with Gwenny
And that's how you know it's old. Gwen Stacy hasn't been Gwen Stacy'd.
... Wow, when did Flint Marko where this horrible thing?
... Really, you made a net to capture Sandman? Does that EVER work?
>He's not MY responsibility
Didn't that attitude get your uncle killed, you twit?
>If anybody should know the Sandman's MO, it's the Fantastic Four.
Wait, what? Isn't he a Spider-Man villain?
And there's that famous afro!
And there they go!
Yes, that's all we've got of Misty in the issue.
So yeah, the "dude in a flyin' bathtub" was the Human Torch.
OH, so he stayed an FF villain when he was with the Fearsome Four. Or is it Frightful Four? I haven't read much Fantastic Four.
>"Just give me five minutes with my ma?"
Don't you love when the capes and criminals have a truce for the holidays?
>And he ran away anyway
FLINT, YOU PRICK!
>>83563388
Is Luke the only one allowed to get married?
>>83563421
This is a costume that's long been forgotten, and for good reason.
And unless somebody wants me to storytime the issue I mentioned at >>83562988 then that's it for the night!
See you tomorrow for Deadly Hands of Kung Fu!
>>83563778
When Bendis finally leaves and someone is allowed to interfere with one of his OTPs, we'll find out.
>>83563504
...Johnny, what the fuck are you wearing?
>>83563835
He looks like Austin Powers.Yeah, baby.
>>83563504
Sandman was a longtime member of the Frightful Four even while being a Spider villain.
That's where he got the ugly suit- from the Wizard.
>>83559523
That could be one of the plots of his show, once he comes back to NYC. Colleen and Hogarth are his only allies as he tries to clear his name.
>>83565903
I hope not. Every Netflix hero has a "character is blamed for murder and has to be cleared."
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Daredevil season 2...
>>83565953
But, this time it's the main lead! Totally different.
>>83563421
>... Wow, when did Flint Marko where this horrible thing?
Fantastic Four. One of Kirby's biggest misfires.
>>83561408
>He's only one man!
Oh Ward. You poor bastard.
>>83562664
This issue may be the single biggest, longest, craziest "Marvel Misunderstanding" fight ever.
>>83559251
bump
>>83574185
badumbump
>>83571022
When did they stop playing Marvel Misunderstanding fights straight? In the '70s it happens a lot and nobody makes fun of it. At some point it became such a cliche that they started lampshading it.
