I have significantly more hope than I ever had for BvS, partially because if the DC's mainstays are mishandled, their fringe elements, the psychos, the strange magic and occult, the non-capes etc. end up being much more interesting. If you ask me it's just another case of a classic character being redesigned for current aesthetics. If Joker walked around town in white face paint and a big puffy coat people WOULD think he was a pimp and no one would take him seriously. The way he dresses, the way he conducts himself, his mannerisms and yes, even his tattoos, paint him as not only a criminal but a well established crime lord. He looks like the kind of guy that not only went toe to toe with Batman but has enough gang bangers to hold shit down.

This is why it's a poor design choice, it doesn't match up with his personality....this Joker might knock it out of the park in terms of characterization but visually it still doesn't really match up right.
