This run looks overrated as fuck if you've read enough of Ellis' work. Mark is another one of Ellis' protagonist with nihilistic sense of humor that says edgy one liners. If you haven't read anything or very little by Ellis, this seems revolutionary. Shalvey and Bellaire were on top of their games though.
>>83556258
>>83556312
>>83556373
>>83556300
However Ellis did manage to capture Mark's voice and did some pretty neat things with the character that still affect him 2 years and one reboot later

Never read this except for that one silent chapter, so thanks for dumping. Heard this was one of the best examples of american action in comics in recent times.
>>83556848
Awesome run.
This shit is great, thanks OP. The best story is "Scarlet" (not yet storytimed) imo.
>>83556883
Is it over?
>>83557111
There's a bit more to this issue, and two issues after that. Maybe OP is kill?
>>83557262
Fuck me, this is only issue two outta six.
Not OP, but I do want to share the wonders of Moon Knight with y'all. Here's a link!

>>83558177
>>83558195
>>83558066
Contrarians galore.
Well, to be fair, there's no "substance" to this run, it's all a series of combat based oneshots.
But style is it's own reward, so why not enjoy it? If you like Redline you can like this.
>>83558211
>>83558228
>>83558225
Maybe people think everything has to be "deep"? That you can't enjoy a comic for the art and composition.
>>83558149
The "thing" of this issue is so cool, I was really thinking it would play a part later in the series, like this whole issue was a Chekhov's Gun, but as far as I know, it was never mentioned or used again.
>>83558254
>>83558274
>>83558225
I think that straightening out the sad mess that was Moon Knight's backstory is both an herculean feat and substance enough to warrant a read.
>>83558285
>>83558303
>>83558299
how was it straightened out? I have basically never read moon knight.

>>83558419
>>83558434

>>83558270
Welp it doesn't help that Ellis only did five issues which kinda felt like the day to day activities for moon knight and the writers that followed were more concerned with doing their own thing or emulate Ellis (neither of those bad choices), that most plot devices that Ellis planted were barely used
>>83558464
>>83558492
>>83558512
>>83558434
I really liked this part
So what's some stuff to look into if I'm trying to get into Moon Knight?
Pop in a suitably hype soundtrack (Hotline Miami works well), cause we're doing the best (and most action packed) issue in the run.
>>83558585
>>83558585
is this the textless one? Noice.

>>83558640
>>83558658
>>83558684
>>83558548
You can completely enjoy this and the next run by themselves, but if you really want to get in there and don't have a problem with older comics, his original solo title is solid and the Chuck Dixon stuff in the late 80's is cool too. A lot of people like to recommend the Charlie Huston/David Finch ultra edgy "Not-Batman" run, I hate it, but check it out if that's your cup of tea.

Reminder that Ellis wrote the following in 2002:
"It occurs to me that an awful lot of trouble in Gotham City could have been averted a long time ago if Batman had just ripped the Joker’s nipples off.
I mean, treatment doesn’t work, does it? They stick the Joker in the nuthatch, he comes out again and does the same things.
A man with the nipples ripped off him does not make the same mistakes twice.
Criminals are a superstitious, cowardly lot, and need the nipples ripped off them.
I mean, who’s going to argue?
“Batman, I’ve heard disturbing reports that you ripped the Joker’s nipples off.”
“Choke on my fuck, Commissioner Gordon.”
“…okay.”
I mean, crime in Gotham City doesn’t exactly seem to be affected by a man dressed as a bat flapping around the place. But no-one disobeys a man wearing a necklace of human nipples.
“I’m Batman” isn’t cutting it in the striking-fear-into-their-hearts stakes. But “I’m Batman — and I’m here for your nipples” is an entirely different proposition.
Criminals would see the error of their ways after a man in a black leather pervert suit had their nipples off with the edge of a Batarang, you mark my words. Or a Bat-Denipplizer.
I’m off to ring DC Comics."
I'm glad he finally got to live out his nip-ripping fantasies.

Honestly, I really want to see this version of moon night in the Punisher series on Netflix. He'd bring in a good amount of mysticism and otherworldly qualities that the Punisher lacks while complimenting his persona. I don't know how they'd team up since they're both lone wolf types though and maybe their personalities are too similar.

I feel you. Boards always "go to shit," but that's the nature of anonymity.
That, and the whole acting like idiots will make real idiots appear thing that I can't seem to google ATM.
But there's fun stuff like this that happens, so I suppose it's worth it.
>>83559439
"Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they're in good company."
>>83559420
thanks Op and support, I've been meaning to check this out
how do you want your moon knight netflix /co/
one shots like this, a "what is real" type like the new run or something like some older runs?
i could love the shit out of the "what is real" type, just adapt the newest book and they are set
>>83558066
No it doesn't. People fellate Ellis and this run here. Some people just use buzzwords and some have legit criticism but they literally fellate this run.
>>83559502
I think a series of one-shots would work very well with the Netflix format, but what do I know.
>>83559346
This is pretty interesting. Black Spectre's just unlucky, which is the correct opposite of Moon Knight.
>>83559420
And he doesn't even kill him.

>>83559095
It's a real shame the other writers didn't use Ryan Trent more, since he was probably the best part of the Ellis run (besides Issue 5 obviously).
What more is there to use? He's a spent idea, basically.
You'd have to build him up again from the basically nothing he is now.

God damn, that's pretty fucking good. What was the name of the run again? All-New Moon Knight?
>>83563844
Look at the post directly above your own. See those last three links? Those are the volume you're asking about divided by writer.
>>83556470

When will artists figure out how bullets work?
At this point I'd figure it's common enough knowledge that at least a few are still drawing them like this to piss people like me off.
>>83558759
Actually... what happens when his money runs out?
>>83566889
he goes hobo
>>83558254
Some issues had a story and a plot to go along, like the first one and the last one. Even though the art and storytelling was based, I didn't find the other issues that good. I find the run to be overrated tbqh.
>>83558950
Fucking Kek.
>>83559502
Should be a different style for each character and villain he encounters. For example, with Werewolf by Night, the episode should be in black and white and the tone fitting a Universal Monsters kind of atmosphere from the 30s. For when he has to deal with crime bosses and team up with Scarlett, the tone should switch to Noir.
What are some Moon Knight keys I should look into getting before the TV series airs? I've already got some big ones like Black Specter, Glass Stained Scarlett and Wild Midnight. Any others I should be on the lookout for? Obviously his first appearance and origin issue is what out of my price range at the moment,
>>83559823every single time
>>83567170
>>83566023
Can you explain anon? As a complete noguns I'm not sure what I'm missing.
>>83568633
Most basic explanation is that when you fire a gun, the bullet is separated into the casing and the actual bit that is fired.
In >>83557548 the pointy bit at the front (you can see it in the cross-section clearly) should have been shot forward, but the rest of it should have been ejected
>>83559568
He actually put up a surprisingly good fight. He lands several hits on Moon Knight with next-to-no-budget on his side.
>>83569055
You know, I missed that. I did know that the brass should of ejected but I totally missed it in the comic. Thanks for explanation though anon.
>>83558950
So is Ellis the one making all the Gordon rape threads
>>83570340
Yes, foreshadowing his next big arc.
