Mary Sues don't have to be loved by all, they just have to create a strong reaction in everyone. However, the people that hate mary sues in universe are usually shown to be wrong or evil, so your points do have some merit.

A mary sue is a self-incert character (or prefabricated to be an avatar for the viewers/readers) with too many good qualities, too competent and superficial "bad qualities" like "being hungry all the time" or "love work too much" or "melancolic"
