School taught me that though

I always loved chitterlings but never knew why we ate them outside of them tasting delicious until we saw a movie in elementary about slavery and shit
>>
>>83506884
I had chitlins once and bit off about a nibble. Maybe i was too sick from the shitty cooked intestines smell in the entire goddamn house.

Whoever cooked them didn't clean them well enough if the house has that smell. I know exactly what you are talking about it is a horrific stench that can make you just want to bomb the house with air freshener and open every window.

so Whites doent eat intestines? shit is delicious. we deep fry 'em or grill 'em and dip it in soysauce/vinegar/chillipeppers/garlic.

>>

Sure we do, sausage and whatnot. But when guts are the only thing you're given to cook with you can't blame people for getting creative. The problem is, as Boondocks said, it's not the kind of food you should eat all the time.
>>
>>83506842
But that's not fucking true in the slightest.
"Soul food" is shit white have been eating in the americas LONG before slavery even really took root here.
Or are you going to tell me slaves were forced to "make do" with porkribs, whole chickens, buttermilk, and fresh fruits and vegetables a long with the fucking POUNDS of expensive spices niggers insist on pouring on everything they make.

If you want to look at the kind of food that develops from an oppressed population who only has the most basic of scraps to live on look at traditional irish food you cuck.
99% random mush in stews that they would keep cooking for months at a time, throwing whatever random scrap of meat or bit of potato they could into the pot when they happened to find it.

Pretty much ALL cuisine was formed out of making do witch whatever you could get. The peasant food of centuries ago is the gourmet of today. 90% of the time the question of 'How was this dish created?' is answered by 'People just cooked what they had'.

>>83507251

Most people I know don't eat intestines and they think it's weird. But it's still a thing. I love 'em. Deep-fried chitlins with vinegar-y hot sauce.

Squid's delicious too, but yeah. It's less of a white thing and more of an American thing though.

Raising cattle is still efficient and a necessary part of feeding people because it recycles the waste generated by raising crops.

People probably eat too much meat, but we still need meat. I eat meat about three times a week.

That's not true though. Crops are dedicated to feeding livestock. They don't feed cows corn stalk.

>>
>>83507485

Anon, we grow grain. Then we harvest grain. After that grain is harvested we are left with stalks. We then dry those stalks out and make hay. We then feed hay to cattle.

The stalks have no nutritional value. They can't feed people. They are a waste. They are an otherwise useless byproduct. By drying them out and feeding them to cattle we recycle our waste into creating more food.

White chocolate was created as a by-product of processing cocoa beans. It's composed of cocoa butter - vegetable fats from the bean - but not cocoa solids, which give other chocolates their color.

It's no less expensive to produce than any other chocolate and is marketed purely as a result of its existence, since otherwise you'd be throwing out half of the expensive beans you paid for.

>>83507084
You literally have to wash all meat before cooking or curing it if you want it to be feces-free, because guess what? When you kill the animal, its bowel relaxes. Consequently there's a lot of fecal material floating around in slaughterhouses, and it's a testament to the cold chain that you don't get sick more often, because you never bother to wash or marinate your steak before you undercook it.
>>
>>83507594

>>
>>83507485

Cows are typically either hay-fed or grass-fed.

Which would you rather have to feed yourself? A pound of beef? Or twenty pounds of grass?
>>
>>83507574
Hay is used for bedding for animals, not food. Cows are fed the grain itself. I live in a region dedicated to growing livestock food.

It sounds like you just made this idea up as a kid and and never thought to actually look it up.

In the United States the vast majority of cattle raised for beef production are grass-fed.

There are different ways of feeding cows. Grass is the most common. Hay is used when grass is unavailable, like when the ground freezes over in winter.

Corn-based feed is commonly used with dairy cattle in order to reduce the area needed to house the herd and make milk production more efficient.

You are wrong.

>>
>>83507820
>In the United States the vast majority of cattle raised for beef production are grass-fed.
Show me a source because that runs contrary to what I have read, unless you count grain and corn as grass.

Regardless, livestock isn't fed the the stalks of the foods we eat. They have dedicated land to feed them and it takes 10 times as much land to fed a cow and then feed a human with that cow then it does simply to grow crops for human consumption.

In Denmark we have this cake/pastry thing called Romkugler(Rum balls) which, at least originally, was made by a baker, from left over batter and unsold stuff from the day before, which would be made into a new mix and rolled into balls and covered in sprinkles. If you just by them in stores now, they use a batter specifically made for them, but I'm pretty sure bakers still makes them the old way.

Remember that different cultures have to stumble on these things. Letting a fish accidentally sit in its own juices for months was probably a pretty easy thing to accidentally do.

What do you expect from American or African American history classes? They're not going to talk about how the Arabs or Greeks did slavery because it's irrelevant to the subject. And I know when I was in school I was definitely taught that slavery happened between Africans.

The only reason to qualify it with "yeah it was bad BUT OTHER PEOPLE DID IT TOO" is to coddle people who feel guilty learning about it. And the people who bring up the "WELL OTHER PEOPLE DID SLAVERY TOO" always want to ignore how American chattel slavery was much more cruel and dehumanizing than most if not all other forms of slavery in that time period.

>What they don't talk about is how badly indians are still being treated. Why haven't SJW's even talked about the plight of the native americans who are still fucked

I know at least in my AP U.S. History class they taught us about it. And in the places they don't talk about it, it's for the same reason. People think that teaching about anything bad that America or white people did in the past is inherently an attempt to make white people feel guilty, so they fight to keep it out of the books or at least make it not seem so bad, like how this Alabama textbook from the 70s tried to make slavery seem like a sweet deal for black people

I'm not american, so that might be why I don't look at it as "just america".
>And I know when I was in school I was definitely taught that slavery happened between Africans.
Most people just seem to either not know, or have forgotten this. They always use the word "enslaved", in stead of "slaved" which are two very different things. It gives people the wrong idea of what happened, and is disingenuous, not only to white people, but also to Africans.

And I'm not saying that "other people did it too" is an excuse, it was clearly a bad thing, but with the way it's being painted, it's also important to remember that is was a normal thing that has happened multiple times all over the world. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm tired of seeing the colonial era of slave trade as being pointed out as anything more heinous than the slave trade that took place before it.

I might agree if we were talking about an entire course dedicated to the history of slavery all around the world, but these are courses focused on America taught to American students. Why would these courses need to compare the intensity of American slavery to slavery from different countries and different eras? What purpose would it serve to go "Yeah, this was bad, but compared to X, Y and Z countries did, it wasn't the worst thing in the world" other than to protect the feelings of people who get teary-eyed when they learn that some bad things happened in the past and the people who did some of them were white Americans?

I do think they're still affecting us. Momentum sets us along predetermined paths. These paths can be broken, especially with the rapid acceleration of machine applications.

In short, I think the recent landscape is a fuck of a lot more important, to the point that bringing up those old battles is almost always a laughable attempt to distract from something awful.

In a decade, tops, the Cold War will be far, far more important to the ongoing events of the world than WW2, despite all the History Channel bullshit. Because everyone involved in WW2 will be dead and gone (true already), most of their children will be dead and gone (largely true), and most of their grandchildren will be senile (almost fucking there.)

That is not what is being suggested. What is being suggested is to put American slavery in its historical context so that students can fully understand the practice and how it was conducted in the West in comparison (both in terms of similarities and differences) to how it was practiced in other parts of the world. I feel it's important for students to learn that such things do not simply happen in a vacuum.

Okay, I've been reading a bit, and it turns out cattle are raised on pastures until they are heavy enough, then they are shipped to feedlots and THAT is where they eat feed that is grown on land that would otherwise be used for human food, like corn. Roughage like corn stalks are fed to them but that's more to help with digestion. Corn is one of the most productive crops for Calories and nutrients so naturally it is one of the main means cows are fattened up before slaughter.
