Morning all.
I realised last night I was having trouble writing Act 1 of the VN because I haven't planned out the routes themselves yet. Having stuff to foreshadow and include in more than one of the routes should pad the story out and make it flow more naturally. Looks like it's coming together a lot better now.
There are a few other things I've been thinking about:
I'm going to need backgrounds for the scenes to give the game some atmosphere. They can't all be stills from the show, as there aren't enough of them for all the locations there'll be. As I see it, I have three options: someone/a few people draw all of the backgrounds; I steal generic backgrounds from other VNs; or someone edits some real-life photos to be blurred and more pastel-coloured.
Obviously there are problems with all of these, but it's something that has to be figured out, and is a fairly big priority. I'm partial to option 3 myself.
The second thing I've been thinking about is getting some artists to draw key scenes for the game, like the end of a route or other emotionally charged moment. I don't know the minimum number I'd need, but I'd probably be able to take as many as were made. Art stylic consistency would be less of an issue her than with the character art, as different would be able to influence the feeling of the scene better. Of course, I actually need to plan out the scenes, so this'll probably be one of the latter things to figure out. This isn't really a priority.
The last thing is music. Unless we want the mouse house calling a C&D, I can't use any music directly from the show, per se. I've not done much research, but there's probably some fanmade and/or acoustic versions that I could find a use for. There's also a ton of generic royalty-free music available that I could use as BGM and such. This isn't a priority.
Anyway, lots of planning being done for now, getting writing soonish. Let me know what you think of things so far.

I get the feeling that it'll be a lot more reasonable to expect help when people see the project's making progress. Art is great, but that's not what killed the last VN project.
People probably don't want to get their hopes up or risk wasting effort until they know it's going to come to something.
Ironically, I am the biggest obstacle to the game's completion.
For now though, I'm just looking for some feedback on how things appear to be going, suggestions and advice, and to test the waters for people who might want to help out in future.

The trick will likely be in making them interesting and distinct, but not so vivid and detailed that they distract from the characters. But if need be, it shouldn't be too difficult to adjust them with Gimp or whatever, so don't worry about it too much. If you look up some VN backgrounds, hopefully you'll get what I mean.

I've been a lurker for some time now, but I can say with confidence that this fandom, like this general, is one of the most civilized and well-meaning I've seen in some time. The shipping and fanfics are cute (and perfect), the namefags are very kind and open throughout, and the show itself is fun and familiar to those who grew up with 90's cartoons but is creative enough to be fresh and new. Just my two cents.

Yea really, we desperately need something that reveals Jackie's personality to us so we know what we're working with.
Once I finish the epilogue to the stories, I think I'm gonna hold off an anymore big stories until most if not all of S2 has aired. I need new canonical material for the characters.

That's all the side characters though. Star and Marco and Toffee are really the only proper characters. It's the biggest problem with the show for me so far. I took my sweet time, but finally finished reading both stories:those two chapters are action-packed and very dramatic (though I also liked the short comedic relief moments of the "Hope vs" arc), and I was pleasantly surprised of the convergence element: I'll be looking forward to the epilogue, and the final confrontation with the fusion of Spade and Korrovetka.

Hmmm... I never felt like the sentences carried on too long. More like there were a few where the descriptive terms repeated. Something I've been guilty of before myself and you can probably go back into my stories and find places I over looked it. Juggling terms to make the sentences flow without repeating is an annoying but useful mental trick.

So I read Dream Girl all the way through. Going to applaud you on the length of the story as it's filled with a lot of content from beginning to end. I'm not really fond of the greentext style of writing still and I think there's plenty here that it could be structured like a regular story without much problem. The punctuation felt a little excessive though, commas were used in abundance when I feel they may not have been necessary. As where people talking in all caps at times. The conversation flowed pretty well. There were times when it felt a little stiff but overall everyone talked like they should.
The subject of the story was well done and it opens with a good misdirect. I was going to complain that the sudden shift from the classroom at the beginning to the start of the adventure was a little too hard, and I still think the transition could have been smoother. But I see what you were doing throwing us around so much. I also compliment you on not making Marco too heroic when the story mostly focused on him. He's not a natural hero and shouldn't be treated as such, even if he has heroic tendencies. Jackie was also handled respectfully in this story too along with Star. Though the ending kind of knocked me back for a second since it seemed to be a lot more suggestive than everything that had happened previously. But I give you an over all positive score, good single short story.
