There's so much great content of HSR, but if I had to choose ONE thing, I think the Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon is my favorite.

sorry to sound like an ass but how is this funny? Or the whole series in general?

>>83502207
I don't necessarily think this line is hilarious but HSR has a lot of excellent content
>>
>>83502207
the entire humor is based around tickling a part of your brain that thinks in a similar way due to similar influences. from shit like making words by cramming them together, to randomly referencing shit that sounds like other words.. so basically you need the right mindset, which requires the right influences. sorry you didn't have 'em.

I've recently grown fond of the Balogna Man cartoon

"I'll take the one shaped like there's a bite taken out of it."
"Yeeeeah, SHAPED like there's a bite taken out of it."
"Yeah, shaped like there's a bite taken out it."
"YEAH, SHAPE-ED like there's a bite taken out of it."
"That's what I said! Shaped like-"

i think some parts of it are just as good. Hot Dips is every bit what Marshie is, Joshow Show channels Coach Z's depression fantastically, and is probably accurate to what his life would be if he ever had a son, and i mean shit, hector and kovitch? i could watch them forever.

it may not have lasted long (keeping it from being played out) but the cardboard marzipan and homestar thing was damn funny. the way that they outwardly denied it, then the cardboard version just admitted the real one was on vacation or something. and hearing them do impressions of each other... and then when they actually met.

i think you're thinking of.. like.. almost all other flash animators of the era. or maybe one of the webcomickers of back then?
the brothers chaps' first major post-homestar project was a movie with the jim henson company, which unfortunately no studio would buy
after that matt worked on a bunch of cartoons, and i believe he still is here and there, but now their major project is 2 More Eggs, a bunch of shorts. funny shit too.
>>
>>83530616
The Brothers Chaps? They've been doing work for television here and there like The Aquabats! Supershow (there was a character who was literally live action Strong Bad in one of the skits) and Wander Over Yonder.
>>
>>83530752
whoa, matt was involved in Wander too? i only knew about gravity falls and star vs. and like, one other..

and that's setting aside all the one-offs, like that one sealab episode or that one uh... what.. there was another.

pretty damn good stuff, unfortunately you could sort of FEEL how inefficient it all was
like, the teen girl squads you do yourself.. were funny, but not as funny as just watching one, since you had to muddle and think a lot more than you should about something so mindless. and they had to put a ton of work into the logic and branching paths of each one.
there were a lot of great gags about gameplay, but few of them were worth the sort of joke-gaps involved in being a game instead of a toon. more than anything, there was only one real moment that felt like it was worth the big buildup of what youd done, and that was the end of the whole thing. and even that relied on you having also followed the behind the scenes stuff.
