Drop Inside Out to Low-Tier.
>>
>>83486566
It was alright. It wasn't nearly as emotional as any of their other films but it was an okayish film and wasn't nearly as disappointing as Brave.

The biggest issue I had was it didn't need to be part of the Cars brand and it could've easily been a stand alone original film spy parody.
>>
>>83486537
Up and The Incredibles are pretty good. Ratatouille is watchable. I used to really like A Bug's Life when I was a little baby. The rest are trash.
>>
>>83486838
Up is god tier
Inside Out is a overrated but still very good
>>
>>83486778
No spoilers but the film hypes up the incoming conflict to be more badass then it really is but takes a very different turn on what everyone expected.

And I don't mean different as in "new" or "original" I mean different as in "Wow this is a lot more dumber then I would've imagined".

Up drops down to average after the first couple of scenes
I've watched the movie 2 times and I barely remember a thing outside the depressing flashback and the end.
Inside Out can be dropped to either high or mid
>>
>>83486566
At least it wasn't a thinly-disguised retelling of "Doc Hollywood." With cars.

"Cars 2" tried to be original within its constraints as a spy thriller. It didn't gel properly, but at least the story was more original.
>>
>>83486537
It doesn't make sense to me when people rank Toy Story 3 as one of the best Pixar movies. You know there's more to the movie than the last 10 minutes right?

The Good Dinosaur is an excellent landscape Tech Demo. It's worth a watch just for that
>>
>>83488221
It was a fun romp of whimsy and creativity with a narrative of letting go of moving on from grief.

My favorite Pixar film is actually Finding Nemo as it also deals with letting go (i.e.: main character can't let go of the past and lets it dictate his every action, and secondary character cannot remember a thing and thus live spontaneously) but I think Up was Pixar's strongest film overall.

Honestly, the only thing not perfect inthe film is the villain. Even then he serves the purpose very well; to show the danger of being consumed by obsession.

The first ten minutes of UP was sentimental, heartstring-pulling sewage. You would have to be intellectually bankrupt to fall for the obvious bait they pulled with that one. I bet the guys who like it are the same fags who ejaculated buckets over that shitty weeb short, Pendulum. The rest of the film was good.

I can't even remember what was supposed to be so good about the last ten minutes of Toy Story 3. As far as I can remember it was just yet more tissue-wetting shitwater, as the characters all held hands (yes, literally) in, appropriately, a garbage dump. Although the film as a whole was also good, because at least it had a Totoro plushie.

Incredibles is obviously best, purely from an aesthetic standpoint, with its excellent use of style. But in the end they're all kid's movies, aimed at people too stupid to think critically and easily entertained by magic flashing lights -- and I'm not just talking about the children. They manage to appeal to dumb parents who spend their lives socialising and dealing with children and never doing anything worthwhile, and of course the odd manchild unable to let go of the "good times" when making friends was so much easier, and he didn't have to pull his own weight in order to fund the unhealthy hoard of kid's miniatures he "collects". But hey, at least they're not Disney.

You Story 3 was good, but it didn't have the same juice the other two had.
Maybe I'm just a nostolgia fag, though

He just fell for the incinerator fakeout, and thinks that makes it a better movie.

Yes, I wouldn't expect anons on this board to understand the finer points of art, which this unfortunately is, no matter how base an example it might present.

I'm sure you think that "plot" is "important". I'm sure you think that it's the defining feature of a work. Nothing of the sort could be any further from the truth.

The themes UP explores are simply adequate enough to be judged "good"; I must keep my expectations reasonable, given our subject matter. The twofold reflection of idolisation, mirrored in Carl's relationship with Charles -- and Russell's relationship with Carl. This is combined with -- conflicted with -- the mirroring of obsession, a hungering for the unobtained that each character thinks will complete them (but in reality is just a plug to fill whatever loss they feel); Charles' hunt for the bird (which really covers his loss of scientific pride, and abject humiliation); Carl's march to the waterfall (which really covers his feelings of disappointment, of having missed out on all the memories he wanted to have with his wife -- and his child; his loss of stability in a now alien world [hence his exile to a supposedly more alien world, where he ironically is more at home]; and of course the death of his wife); and you can't forget Russell, with his hunt for the "Assisting the Elderly" badge (which he will go on a "guttersnipe hunt" for, in an amusing nod to the main themes of the film), because he thinks it will finally bring his father home. This reaches its climax as Carl realises what Charles could never; that he must let go of his obsession, and seek to find what he can in the world he is in *right now*.

Like it or not, UP is an acceptable film, which is what passes for "good" around here.

Oh, so you've descended to petty ad-hominem, have you? You disappoint me, anon, you truly do. But I do not think I can say that you surprise me, and indeed perhaps the only thing that surprised me was that it took so long. For a long time I sought for some appropriate forum of discussion for the media that I believe are worth analysing, but this was a child's errand. Nevertheless, I held some hope that, perhaps, this site would be welcoming towards intellectual debate. That was foolish.

Inside is overrated (good concept, poor development). Up too (good start, generic development).

Nemo is Top Tier.
Bug's is Mid.
